Glenn Danzig would win some brownie points showing off his softer side in 2010 when he was spotted buying kitty litter, but one year later those points would be expired after his behavior at the Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin, Texas. Danzig was set to headline the festival friday night, but following his performance the promoters would come out and publicly shame him in the press for his behavior. Even a high profile metal band got involved. What happened? Stay tuned to find out.
Danzig arrived in Austin the morning of the show. He reportedly told festival organizers it was too cold, he had a cough and he wasn’t going to play. According to Rolling Stone Magazine “He then demanded vitamins, French onion soup and a Wendy’s chicken sandwich”. Danzig claimed the temperature the night of his performance was going to be below freezing, when in actuality The temperature was mid to high 50’s.
According to the festival promoters they had to negotiate with the frontman for hours ensuring they provided him with on-stage heaters, and provide an on-site doctor to tend to his death cough. Followin those itense negotiations they were assured by his managers the show would proceed as planned. Danzig was scheduled to take the stage at 8:15pm that night, but he still refused to take the stage citing the weather again, his cough and his general disappointment with the stage setup despite the fact it was approved months prior to his performance and ok’d by his stage crew the day of the show. Danzig would eventually give in and took the stage 45 minutes late at 9pm. Keep in mind there was a 10pm curfew, and with him starting 45 min late he would only be performing for less than an hour. It’s funny for a city to call itself the live music capital of the world it sounds ridiculous to have a 10pm curfew.
Upon taking to the stage Danzig told the crowd that he was “fing freezing”. Despite his unhappiness with everything he still played a 16 song set according to setlistfm until the curfew, but the reaction on Twitter from attendees was brutal with some comments comparing it to Daznig karaoke.. At 10 p.m., when the promoters had to to enforce the city’s curfew Danzig had only made it through two Misfits songs disappointing many fans who travelled from long distances to attend the show. Danzig encouraged the crowd to riot and while many screamed for the musician to continue on with his performance no riot ensued and countless fans took to twitter to express their anger and disappointment while some defended Danzig. Here’s a clip of what went down the night of the show. \
Perhaps my favourite part of this whole story was that one of the festival organizers took to Facebook following Danzig’s performance to express his displeasure outlining the following
“Hi. I book the fest. Those that are hating could NOT be more wrong. Yes, someone has your money and ripped you off. His name is Glenn. Stop by his house in LA with some kitty litter in trade for your refund, but we still had to pay him and he didn't deserve it after what he pulled. Here is how it went down...
-glenn says it's freezing in austin and he can't go on. says it's going to be 28 degrees tonight and he won't perform (keep in mind, it's currently 71 and sunny with a night forecast of maybe 50+). he says we have to move the show/festival inside if we want him to play (obviously, that's not possible).
The organizer would go on to say they brought in stage heaters despite the fact no other bands required them
Arriving 30 min before stage time Danzig wouldn't leave his trailer to go look at the stage depsite the fact it was 50 feet from his trailer , so the lighting company drew up specs for him to look at in his trailer.
In the same statement the organizer would claim “Glenn's bodyguard gets pushy (literally) with murder city devils manager and tells them they can't have their friends watch from stage and wants them to cut their set. kicks them off stage and gets physical with the band and stafff....oh, also danzig says he's just as big as slayer and slayer is playing a bigger stage on sunday and that's bullshit and wants to play the same stage slayer is playing...or won't play. makes him look bad.

I love how he only treats his ailments with natural remedies and then wants a wendy's chicken sandwich. Here's a great story about the misfits and the time they got arrested for grave robbing ua-cam.com/video/s0fe_uSPrfw/v-deo.html and leave your suggestions for future topics....Yes I Know Henry Rollins is coming to my channel
I knew i was right about today
Hey bud, love the channel. I have a very similar story when I worked at The Virgin Megastore in NYC.
He was suppose to do a in store and asked my bosses if he and his band can get free cds. We said NO but we can get you a discount.
So the idiot said he wouldn’t do the signing if he didn’t get free merch. So we said ok go fuck yourself.
So instead of going to the table to sign he went out side and signed stuff that the 50 people that were there. What the moron didn’t know is that you had to buy his new album at the time to get a autograph. So we still made our money.
I also have a story of Gene Simmons sexually harassing a co worker of mine if you want. Lol
I have a lot of stories....
My cousin played drums in Danzig for several years in the 90's. From what I've heard, Glenn is huge diva and he has an ego that's way too big for his own good. He also owes my cousin thousands upon thousands of dollars even up until this day. I don't know Glenn, but the guy seems like a total douche bag.

I cant stand this and this is typical of what a diva would do

"Mother! Tell your daughter to bring me Wendy's chicken sandwich tonight!"

“Mother buy me some cat litter at the grocery store “
@Robert Henderson 😂😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏
Don't you mean french onion soup
"They're gonna cut our power in 5 minutes" Geez, Glenn. In that case, stop babbling and play, you can fit 5 misfits songs to 5 minutes.
It's Fine 7 if he didn’t argue
lol
But he doesn't mention he was 45 mins late starting & robbed the fans of that much music.
For real!!!
We Are 138 is only 1:38 seconds!
NOFX could have quicky ran in and played 20 or 21 songs, promoted a new beer sponsor, cracked a country joke, pissed everybody off while making them laugh, and left.
"Don't blame me". Started 45 minutes late. I hate people like that.
@Jr Reyes Fucking beautiful piece of footage.
Jr Reyes I have not but I will in less than a minute.
His delay was stupid. But bands could get delayed for real reasons. The real crime here was the 10PM curfew of Austin TX. Must be too many Californians moved in and changed everything...
I am a huge Danzig fan, but goddamn does this guy seem like a child.

IKR? Danzig knocked out: ua-cam.com/video/zfD7agP1yxw/v-deo.html
@Nexus Six Really? I think you could pick any clique or group of people and find that 4 out of 5 can't fight. I would encourage you to consider the likes of Henry Rollins and GG Allin, both were notorious for fighting any troublesome fan they could reach during concerts
@Nexus Six I don't fight unless I am attacked or cornered and have no choice. I am not a trained fighter or an instigator, just a nerdy looking 160 pound dude with no fear and a heavy right hand. I was merely disagreeing with your general statement, because there is clearly no way that you can substantiate it. Like I said, pick any group of people and the majority of them can't fight (provided it isn't a group of professional fighters). The human race is moving backwards in regards to tenacity and physical toughness. Most are content to be keyboard warriors on the internet, which is fine until a random person harasses them or a loved one for no reason. I prefer not too fight, but I'm happy to be a bespectacled ,skinny geek who is blessed with the courage and striking ability needed to defend myself in the event I am attacked or forced to defend a loved one from bullying or harassment. There is nothing wrong with that.
@Nexus Six I hear you. I don't know enough about Danzig to say for sure that I think he's a total dick, but I'm not defending the guy by any means. I was just saying I'm sure a few punks out there can defend themselves. It's a simple matter of probability. G.G Allin was a first class sleaze bag and a filthy animal, but that disgusting fuck rumbled with anyone and everyone. He was probably a little bit dangerous just by default, I mean, the dude enjoyed shitting on stage, rolling in it, and throwing it at random people. That is fucked. I mentioned Rollins (yes I know, mighty internet trolls everywhere call the dude a pussy and a loser from the safety of their anonymous location) because back in his Black Flag days, he was known to single out apparently flagrant Neo Nazi skinheads who were being assholes to people and would call them up and he'd just pounce on them with both fists flying. Unlike GG or Glenn, his frequent violence stemmed from the virtuous rejection of hate mongering extremists bullying others in the audience. I'm pretty sure Henry would have knocked GG on his ass, and I'm convinced he could beat the shit out of wannabe tough guy Glen Danzig too. If I had to choose a crew to back me in a brawl, Glen wouldn't be picked. I'd pick Henry over him, I'd pick Jerry Only over him, hell I'd pick Iggy Pop over him, because Iggy survived years of heroin use, has rolled in countless square feet of broken glass, punched himself with microphones, stage dived face first into floors, and the dude is still standing at 73 years old, he's still ripped like he's 20 under his wrinkly alligator skin, and he's still getting after it musically. He might only be 5 and a half feet tall and 125 pounds, but dude has guts and he's a survivor. He took the longest, least navigable route to success and admiration, not many people could manage that. OK I'm done ranting LOL Peace to you my friend.
@Nexus Six It's totally unacceptable to unleash hired muscle on a paying customer for anything short of legitimately threatening lives. I don't necessarily agree with these phone and recording device bans, I believe if I buy a ticket, I should be allowed to document the experience I paid for. However, I also understand that there are dishonest people who attend shows with the sole intention of recording bootlegs and attempt to market these unpermitted recordings for monetary gains. It's one thing to record a show for your personal collection, even share it free of charge with a few buddies. Bootlegging is wrong though, it's the same thing as piracy, and no artist should accept this parasitic greed. Unfortunately, a few bad apples ruin things for the rest of us. If the event stipulates that you agree to not record the show, you should hold up your end. Still, sending thugs to beat the hell out of someone who breaks the rules is totally unacceptable. Venue security should be called to peacefully remove anyone who breaks the rule from the venue. I'm even okay with confiscating and destroying any device used for such purposes. Having someone jumped by a gang is just rotten though.
Man if only you could buy some type of material made to be worn that could trap your body heat in and keep you warm
They haven't invented it in see trough mesh material yet haha
@ it was a stupid joke no one cares. Also plenty of people wear warm clothing while performing.
@@phantomlord067
Not really. Name some metal bands you've seen wearing layers of clothing onstage.
@ He doesn't need to name multiple Bands! One only needs to be aware of GWAR
@ you’re an absolute headass. If your counter to someone completely disproving you is “oh that doesn’t count because it’s apart of their stage show,” when the argument concerns whether or not people actually wear warm or hot things on stage, you have no argument. Just because a costume is apart of the stage show doesn’t mean there isn’t a real person under there who can get past wearing hot clothes to perform for the people who paid to see their show, and Glenn could’ve easily done the same thing but with a nice light weight jacket. Also, your argument makes no sense because Danzig was claiming it was too cold, meaning that the stage lights had no affect on the temperature you fucking dumbass. Moreover, Ghost, Slipknot, Gwar all wear costumes, Freddie Mercury wore his famous yellow two piece as well as a host of other outfits, same with David Bowie; just last year I saw Highly Suspect in concert and Johnny was wearing a gigantic winter coat the entire gig for no reason. If you know anything about Metal history, people have been wearing denim and leather jackets on and off stage for years. You seem really proud of yourself for playing under stage lights, I’m sure the three people at the venue loved it. And the only time I’ve ever performed on stage, I was wearing a full wool marching band uniform, so get over yourself.
Ronnie James Dio played his last shows enduring his cancer Danzig has no excuse
Warren Zevon is another one who played while he was dying of cancer.
Country singer Luke Bryan broke his collarbone hours before a show and performed with his arm in a sling.
Dave grohl finished a set with a broken leg.

Glenn must really hate the invention of video footage.
Also his well-known diva behavior hasn’t hurt his following or rabid fan base. Anyone who was turned off by Danzig’s antics probably were a lot more level-headed when it came to his music and checked out long before.
He does this is why cameras aren't usually allowed at his show. If he sees someone videoing he gets mad.
@Yoda Godda glens issue has nothing to do with copywrite. He also gos after people taking pics not just videos. Google danzig cameras and u will get a bunch of stories of him being a dick. I tend to agree with him. Cell phones are ruining shows. I was at a slayer show where Tom asked hey guys can we all please put the cameras down for one damn song so I can see your faces. He's in love with his past fame, and was pissed he wasn't on the main stage like panterra.
I remember reading an interview where he openly stated that he doesn't enjoy touring anymore because he'd rather be working on something else and does it pretty much because he has to to pay the bills. I went to go see him not long after reading that, and even tho I could see it in his face that he really didn't want to be there he still gave it his all and put on a fantastic show. @@misery13666 What past fame? Misfits are more famous now than when they were in their prime. That goes for most punk bands. When the old school punk scene was active, there were maybe a few hundred people involved in each local scene. The worldwide total in the late 70s could be measured in the low thousands. Nowadays the Misfits could sell out arenas. This is always how it works for underground bands. It just takes time for society to catch up to them.

I've heard so many horror stories over the years of fans meeting celebs
In my years of being a musician/music journalist/fan, I’ve found that most (but not all) musicians who came from a punk rock/hardcore background will accommodate their fans, engage in conversation, pose for pics, sign albums etc because they know what it was like to be a fan themselves and have the people you admired shun or belittle you. Even bands like Killing Joke and The Damned were some of the nicest people to talk to; no rock star pretension at all.

@@DoubleDJ86 I agree about chuck he was an amazing drummer
I saw him live with most of the original Misfits in Philly in December 2019. It was great.
I was there to, it was great. 👍🏼🤘🏻
No chicken No satan is about the funniest thing I've ever seen 🤣😂
Alice Cooper accidentally stabbed himself with Errol Flynn's sword right into his thigh and kept performing, bleeding all over the stage. He performed the next night as well.
I got to see one of his concerts, his theatrics are incredible. He hanged himself from a gallows after a song while in a straight jacket. It was my first actual concert
That defines heavy metal. Lol
'Danzig; No chicken. No Satan.' 😂😂
Danzig should do a tour with Pearl Jam. The Mama's of Drama your.😂
Add Tool to that tour.Well to be fair just Maynard. He won't even let a spotlight hit him.I am a huge Tool fan but at a concert about 10 or so years ago(in Baltimore)Maynard went on a 5 minute rant about how hard it is to be a genious musician like him.
But who gets to headline? Oh, yeah, Axl!
@@jimschleich8753 axl will have to fight motley crue for that.
Gregory Cox luckily I got to see Tool not only while Paul was still their bass player, but before Maynard became a primadonna & actually performed like he was part of the band. Now, he definitely seems “diva-ish”
I'm sorry, having seen Pearl Jam many, many times throughout their entire career, Explain to me the drama behind Pearl Jam or Vedder for that matter????
This Glenn Danzig looks like a tough guy, but in reality is a Twinkie! His name should be Glenn Danish!
The guy had an evil sniffle, probly picked it up on his spooky haunted flight from hell. Give the guy a break
some years ago i worked with a guy that grew up with danzig in nj, says he was nothing like how he is now...used to be super friendly, smiling and all around a total gentleman.
Money and fame does that to people.
I met him after the “Seattle” Misfits show (actually in Auburn) and he was ridiculously kind until I asked for a picture. Went downhill fast but up until that point, he couldn’t have been more friendly
Some people don't like their picture taken. I can relate.
@@GilbertSyndrome "Some people" aren't usually famous singers....
@@edwardfletcher7790 He's hardly famous... And it doesn't matter what a person's job may be, they still have the right to dislike groupies wanting to act like the paparazzi. I swear, people are obsessed with snapping pictures for their nonsense social media pages.
@@GilbertSyndrome I agree about the social media BS.
But fans ALWAYS want pics with their idols. Its a simple way of proving to their friends that they actually met him...
@@edwardfletcher7790 A lot of people just don't like it. Ian McCulloch from the Bunnymen drinks in my pub and he won't do pictures, personally I'd rather just have a few minutes of their time instead. 🤷
"Self awareness? What's that?"
-Glenn
Danzig: "So let me get this right... you want me to perform at a gig named fun fun fun fest?"
Organizers: "Yes sir. We think everyone will have a jolly good time singing along to your cheery songs"
Danzig: "Do you know who the fuck I am?"
There's nothing Glenn Danzig takes more seriously than Glenn Danzig. Not even the music or the fans.
Italians have EGOS, what can ya say, they are impossible to deal with, hot women though and good food, bang their women, eat their food and be done.
I've never heard a story about Danzig that started with "Listen to how cool Danzig is in real life "
There's plenty, you just don't bother looking.
@@GilbertSyndrome enlighten us
@@frightenedsoul You don't seem capable of enlightenment.
"They are telling us we can only play for 5 more minutes don't blame me I want to continue playing"
You started the concert 45 minutes too late it's 100% you to blame Glenn...
When Danzig tells you to riot and you cry on social media.......:
Welcome to Austin.
LOL!
When did he tell them to riot? 'I guess they've never heard of a riot before.'
Saw Danzig live in 1991 at the University of Maryland. They were incredible.
And then you have jerry only who will literally be at a venue until each and every one of the fans who wants to meet him and or take a pic is able to....and still there are people who say jerry's misfits suck?!?!?! At least jerry respects the fans!!
Walter Mahr I can totally vouch for that. I met him back in 2000. He stood outside in the freezing cold and made sure everyone got to meet him.
I met jerry at zipper head on south street in philly and he was very cool. I was walking on a cloud for the rest of the day. This was. ..in 98 or 99 I think. Jeez. I'm old.
@Steve Fitz damn. Dave brokie, rip. That sux. I saw them almost every time they came thru Memphis back in the day. I took my older brother who had absolutely no idea what to expect and I'm sure you can imagine his surprise. 😳
SO many Misfits fans talk shit on Jerry, i have always defended him. i will admit i dont fully like what he has done with the Misfits since winning the case to use the name. but i have met him 4 times and he has been totally cool every time and yes spends a lot of extra time for meeting the fans. the first time i met him in the mid 90s he invited me and my friends onto the damn bus and showed us around.
all that said Danzig is legendarily difficult, through the whole 90s he refused to even talk about or answer questions about the Misfits in interviews and would get confrontational with people about it. BUT he IS the Misfits.
@@newwavepop I dont think one person has said anything bad about jerry in this comment section. Another case of, "wtf are you talking about?!"
I guess alot of us take comprehension for granted.
Is it me or do all of those things sound like excuses because his drug guy was running late?
Idk does danzig have a history of opiate use? I was never that big into him. if so, he should be rich enough to pay a doctor off or just go on a methadone program...
🤣🤣
According to himself Danzig don't do drugs, not since when he was in his late teens/early twenties or so when he deicided it was worthless and it interferd with his budding music career. He doesn't really get drunk either, he can have a few beer or drinks sometimes but prefers to avoid getting drunk if I recall correctly.
I in saw Danzig 89 or 90 with Soundgarden open the show..one of the best concerts i have ever seen..Atlanta, Center Stage
He should have quit while he was ahead and been remembered that way.
That’s why he gets memed on so hard now
@@aaronstepien2363 Plenty of people still attend his shows and have a good time. Plenty of people continue to work with him and have nothing bad to say. Seems like you're just expecting too much from a guy who doesn't give a crap what your thoughts are.
It was surprisingly satisfying watching the old video where Danny Marianino knocks Danzig the f**k out after this vid :D
He’s amazing. Makes no apologies. Love him.
He is the only musician I have ever seen take cameras and phones from fans .
I’m not playing I’m bigger than slayer mehhh I want slayers stage mehhhhhhhh

I can't blame Slayer for poking fun of Danzig's lame excuses.
i remember that: the fight he got in backstage was his security not letting From Ashes Rise get back into the backstage to grab their gear.
Danzig is still great. I love the guy
So do I.
I have met all the Misfits (ok the big 4) through the years and...
Glenn was cool with me but I have seen him acting a fool with others. He's like that friend you have that's an ass but you just kind of tolerate him hoping he doesn't get all pissy because he has more good moments than bad.
Jerry is great and on a fan level he has always been phenomenal to people that go to the shows. Waiting to sign stuff, take pictures, giving things to fans and just being an all around good dude. The behind the scenes stuff and "selling out" label have painted him in a bad light and hardcore old school Misfits fans give him a lot of crap. I think if he would have carried on without the Misfits name he would have gotten a much better reputation with those fans. He's had a few diva moments in the past but not usually with fans.
Doyle is probably my favorite just due to the fact that I have I very similar mentality when it comes to conflict. Avoid it and try to make the best of things but when you can't fuck shit up. He's good with fans when you can find him but I was lucky enough to catch him away from the crowds of fans and once his wall comes down is really cool and down to earth and will actually talk to you for a while. Never heard of him being a diva.
Robo is Robo, but was never a jerk to fans that I know of and hangs out. Never heard of him being a diva either.
I have met my heroes and luckily have had nothing but good experiences, I genuinely feel bad when someone with a fan base leaves a bad impression on them. Now if you excuse me I'll be preparing my TL/DR flame shield lol.
Doyle isn't the most accomodating guy, but that's his choice. Jerry is a nice guy, really appreciative.
Jerry Only is a class act . An absolute genuine great guy that appreciates everything about his success . People shit on him, but totally unfair .
i saw him in houston hob 2008, his mic wasn't working for a few seconds during a song and with an aggressive attitude just threw it to the ground and walked out and the lights came on...he later came back but for a sec we thought the show was done lol
It's cute how Glenn went after Slayer - lol!
Glenn has always been a prissy little princess.
and here we have dave grohl fracturing his leg and coming back the same day.
No kiddin
Danzig said he's as big as slayer? Is he crazy?
Yep.
Drugs, man
He's barely as big as one of their 1/2 stacks.
I’d say it’s a toss up as to who’s bigger but I’d say he’s got way more talent than all the members of slayer combined and his influence to bands such as slayer is unmatched!
Glenn writes better songs
Great singer. Yet has a tendency to display moronic behavior at times.
You're right about the moronic behavior anyway.
Danny Marianino of North Side Kings knows how to handle Diva Danzig...
Typical primadonna front man stereotype. Let's see who else goes on that wall of little shame, I'll start with Axl Rose.
Not a front man but Lars belongs there too.
Who knew Glenn Danzig acting like a big fat diva would be my favorite story on this channel lol!?!

Ever since that fan knocked him the fuck out.
Haven’t taken Danzig serious.
not a fan, a fist with 400 lbs behind it.
Danzig got beaten up again a few years ago in Romsey, Hampshire, UK. He blew smoke into a bouncer's face and got pounded. There's a picture of him lying unconscious, and an audio tape of the altercation. You can hear him crying.
Ok you made me curious 🤣 do you have the link to those pics or audio?
doubtful
I don't think Glenn smokes.
In an age now where most men in bands have low T, patchy beards, and are passive aggressive, Danzig's direct douchebaggery is a breath of musky air.
Apparently Northside Kings' vocalist smoking him backstage on camera didn't humble him
The funiest thing about that is the guy who smacked him punches like my sister and he still knocked him down with one shot.. Priceless.
That was hilarious. Dude was like 3x the size of Danzig.

i've seen Danzig on two of his tours and then last year with his "Final" tour with the Misftis> Nothing like this occurred. too bad. He's so classic.
I met Danzig at a mall and he bought me a pizza slice from Sbarro's and I got diarrhea
Glenn Danzig: "WTF? You people expect me to perform in 50 degree weather?! It's going to be WAY too cold for me to take my shirt off while I sing."
