The Fallout Equestria fanfic alone is longer than LOTR+Harry Potter combined. IIRC it has over 30 authors working on it, split over at least 5+ different story lines. You could also say the same about the less geekier fandoms, like sport fanbases, gun nuts and so on. so TL;DR DO NOT underestimate your fanbase, no matter what your media or content.
