Only bad thing about parity is they diminish whoever wins it as a fluke championship, people already saying Last year's Nuggets chip was watered down and they say the same thing about the Lakers & Raptors championship
@@Ackshuallymmm it wasn't due to parity. The league had major financial woes that stemmed well beyond parity on top of the drastic change of the racial makeup in NBA. Games weren't even live then & the league also had a recreational drug problem (everyone knew it...we're talking about the 70s lol). The game was also slower & more half court based in the 70s, which was a drastic shift from the 60s.
Not really. 5 teams (Celtics, Lakers, Warriors, Hawks, and 76ers) made the Finals in the 1960s and 2 (Celtics and 76ers) won. But there was an *average* of only 10 teams in the 60s. So, *half the league* made the Finals and 20% was able to win one. In the 80s, 5 teams (Laker, Celtics, Rockets, 76ers, and Pistons) made the Finals and 4 teams (all but the Rockets) won one. But there were *23 teams* at that time. So, you're talking about a *WAY* smaller piece of the pie actually being in contention over that stretch.
Parity, along with high quality competive basketball (led by the best players in the league), is what makes the NBA strive as a brand. It's like the NBA equivalent of March Madness.
Parity is a great thing for the NBA. The NHL has had some good parity for awhile now and it makes it exciting for teams like the 2014 LA Kings which made an insane playoff run to win the Cup while in one series being down 3 games to none. If the NBA ratings are currently down, its just because there are a lot of options out there. This is a particular great time of year for tennis. Arguably the greatest match in the last 25 years happened 19 years ago yesterday between Nadal and Guillermo Coria. This is my favorite time of year as a sports fan, because I'm switching between hockey, basketball, and tennis with hardly a dull moment.
In my opinion the less parity is better for the league because more people seem to like the story of having a villain or somebody who are doing something that's never been done. People love to hate. So when you have a lot of different teams there harder to hate and when you have one team winning everything they can get behind the story of someone taking them out. Such as the golden state era. Or the LeBron era. Jordan era etc. the NBA needs somebody to hate and somebody that can eventually take them down or die trying. The NBA is more about the story
Every Sports league should fight for parity, but sometimes natural superteams do come about such as the 1980s Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, & late 80s to early 90s Pistons. Parity didn't really kill the 70s. They had a lot of financial woes, drug problems, fighting, etc. Expansions also help to create parity.
Parity and variety is great for the NBA! Also can we have more big men in the post and not be shooting threes all the time?! Have some defensive effort and different shot variety; less threes and some more mid range shots like damn expand your horizons!
People only are not watching because the games been blow outs.. Boston Okc and Minnesota all won in blow outs.. Knicks vs Pacers the best series to watch cause the game been close and back and forth..

Naw we wanna see competition brodie MJ was lovable so the league thrived. Magic and bird was a racial thing. The lakers early 3 peat was boring. My warriors vs the cavs after 2017 was 🥱
Dynasties are rare. Just last year all the experts were saying Jokic was better than Kareem and now what. I can’t hear you. Fans are tired of Steph KD and Lebron. This new blood was needed.
There’s nothing wrong with parity. The biggest problem with the nba is the lack of respect the players have and the poor play on the court (defensively.)
If parity isn't good for the NBA, there's really no point in having teams outside the large markets. Might as well have a league of the Lakers,. Warriors, Mavs, Suns, and Rockets in the west, and Celtics, Knicks, Sixers, Hawks, and Bulls in the east, with the rest being a junior league.

They see all tgese dominant black people making alk this money just to play basketball and the very rarely see any good white players out there and it makes them sick. That's why tge NFL ratings is are so dominant because they have white people that can compete with black players on the field
THIS! and for them at least the majority of quarterbacks are white, players wear helmets so during play the angst about black and brown ppl not as resonate, and not a slew of guaranteed contracts for the Antonio brown types that we KNOW turns the majority off
Horrible take. The NBA has been predominantly black for decades. Stop playing the victim.
The Lebron superteam era is the worst era in NBA history we need these superstars today to stay put.
NOT going back to that! AAU culture not dying...and Europeans NOT taking over JACK! they tend to "stay put" 🤔
Let me get this straight… So there was “parity” in the Jordan championship era because Jordan beat different teams in the finals? Huh?
Anything is better than the destruction of the superteam era
Its good basketball but I hate that everyone eats
Parity is overrated when the regular season competition has declined with the lack of defense and load management.
The new CBA creates parity
The Blazers won the title in 1977.
You missed Portland in 1977 I think
As the Superstars not just LeBron get older the NBA can breath again lol
Nba has becomd unwatchable over the last 10 years imo
I agree wholeheartedly
Nah golden state Cleveland 3-1 series was the best finals I ever seen
Legit hatin on warriors.. 🤣🤣🤣 still bitter boi? Hahahaha
It's only you. We love watching it the last ten years!
@TheMethod-rv5gr 2016 finals were good but that whole era was the least interesting regular season and playoffs cause everyone knew who were going to be in the finals
I like it!
I think its good I like international football but leagues like the Spanish have Barcelona and Real winning every year.
Did anyone else google parity? lol
Rob I’ve been thinking, Should other teams win Rob or should the Lakers win every title? - Broussard
bru missed the trail blazers in 77!
Not really because if there is a new champion every season then it will water down the landscape of the league.
this is a MJ fanboy take. Lol the league is watered down because so many teams won a ring lol. Get yo weird ass on. This is the greatest era of nba ball
@@BIGJERSEY908I agree, how dare this person have an opinion and share it.
@@BIGJERSEY908 you don’t know me to call me weird. But you can take that bum ass 49ers gear off and get some new kicks. Look like you wearing some 2004 adidas. And that jersey fake. You look like a ex junkie.
Exactly
Seeing den win finally and the bucks after 50 years and the raptors get their first wad awesome same for cavs and mavs
Am I tweaking or am I the only one that thinks it’s “parody” not “parity”
lol ALREADY writing Denver off for this year!
Of course its good for the league, think about the other fan bases they deserve to see their team win. They're spending their hard earned money on tickets and memorabilia like everyone else
Nope. Every team doesn’t deserve to win! The product becomes too weak.
@@Lucky-gk7ez how? clown take...TOO many options fir entertainment modern times. And FANS run the product viewership wise obviously...not saying EVERYONE is like me, but if God Kyrie and Boston were eliminated early I wouldn't even watch. Heat fans barley show up in arena for playoff games now so do you think they are tuning any as much right now?
Just binge on some documentaries and sit down somewhere HAPPILY! it is GREAT that Nuggs may get ousted and be one hit wonders like my hometown Milwaukee 💪🏿☘☘☘
