That is going to be a wonderful Christmas gift. I hope it will be appreciated and treasured for many years to come, and will lead to embracing a great hobby. It is nice that you put the help you receive into helping others. I have learned from you experiences and mine and almost always remember, before attaching anything to anything, to backtrack in my mind to the completed project to make sure everything is inserted through the appropriate places before finalizing connections. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
I received this same engine as part of a Flyer set when I was 3 months old. It was a gift from my grandmother and 73 years later it still works pretty well and delights my grandson. Thank you very much for your informative and entertaining videos.
As always, I learn something each and every video. My grandfather split all the power cords to his transformers and inserted a switch, which makes sense, but it means I will be replacing cords. Now I've seen the inside, and what it takes. Thanks! Keep on keeping on... you learn the lessons for me! (I've done the forget to insert before solder a couple times in other projects...)
Thank you and great to hear from you. I did a lot of editing as getting everything to fit properly and all line up took alot of attempts. Lol ..I'm sure I'm not alone with the solder/unsolder... happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Another superb by the master of AF restoration. That was quite a job but it sure looks good and runs so well. Whoever gets it is blessed. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I want you to know how thankful I am that we got connected back in the day. I still miss the zoom calls we did. Blessings friend.
I actually kinda like the shiny look. It looks like someone had begun parting that engine out. Love to see them rescued. I found a 1946 320 Hudson that had been parted out, but I'm going to revive that as well. Happy ThanksGiving
What are the odds that 2 guys are works on the same locomotive around the same time. Mine has the metal wheels on the tender just slightly starting to dish out like yours was. Has to be a flaw in the metal wheel. I have not come across this before either. Plastic wheels perfectly fine.
@@jas5267 thanks...but the shiny fades in a few days. Warm water, dawn soap and a soft brush is step one. Then a cue tip and mineral spirits is step three and then a wipe down is a good way to clean them. The plastic shells are not shiny so if you want that look they would need to be painted. Metal shells from AF also were not shiny.
Hey Austin, I'm working on getting that straight track together

Thank you for another wonderful video. I always learn something new watching you do a repair.
Great job getting it running. It will make a great present for the recipient.

You are welcome...and thank you for this short story! Hearing original owners stories is something I appreciate deeply.

I look forward to the videos! And happy Thanksgiving 🦃
You had to replace the main crank pin on that engine.
Yes I did. I tried to salvage the original but was unsuccessful.

Hi Austin, what paint or blackening agent did you use to get your locos so clean and shiny? I love how clean and shiny it is!
