jordan hicks I live in West Virginia. I don't hunt, but back when I did I almost NEVER had an opportunity for a shot over 100 yards. In the Appalachians, you're hunting in tight valleys with dense tree and brush cover, from hillside to hillside, I'd say the average shot on a whitetail deer here is probably 60 or so yards. .243 is an easy round to control, shoots super-flat, and won't destroy a whole lot of meat, and kills them dead as a hammer every time at the ranges we hunt at. We have no need for retaining energy over 5-600 yards' distance like you folks out west do.

The eye relief range on a scope would have to be massive on that rail. Hickok: “I wouldn’t call this a pistol cartridge.” Magnum Research: “Hold our beer.”
If you look up a scout rifles heritage, it is meant to use a long eye relief scope so you can have max peripheral vision of your surroundings. Don't want anything sneaking up next to you out of the bushes while you're zeroed in on your target through the scope. Also makes the rifle incredibly well balanced and easy to carry.
Ruger just sent mine back. I had some cosmetic and stock issues with it. They replaced the stock and load tested it. The gun printed a three shot group all in the same hole at 50 yards about a 1/4” to the right of dead center with test target they sent me. They also sent me a few extra metal mags with it. It’s a beautiful gun. Reminds me of a lee enfield Jungle Carbine. Just like my old American Ruger replaced with this gun it prefers FTX type bullets. Any type of blunt pistol type bullets struggle to smoothly cycle in it. I see you had to work the bolt a little to get the rounds in the chamber like I do with both Ruger 450 BM models.

The one thing I think is missing on these commercial bolt rifles is stripper clip guides. I learned to shoot on milsurp rifles and there’s something to be said for that loading system. Rifle was the same gun here but in OD green and scope.
AND it was in southern Michigan where it's a shotgun, pistol or pistol round carbine only whitetail zone.
"I like to miss one ever now and then 😁" that's a nice rifle ✌️
I bought mine 3 years ago, I had feeding issues with the Ruger mag. I noticed the mag looks exactly like my Accuracy International CS mags for my .308. The AICS mags work, with no more issues except the floor plate rattles loose even on the AICS mags.
Beautiful rifle! I love my 308 GSR...very handy. I will have to get one of these.
Would really like to see 10rnd magazines for this one. Hmmm, modified 308 mags?
Very Cool Ruger rifle , Hickok45 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate y’all from Texas ^^
Bryan Goodspeed same here

Imagine the cops listening to the audio “I’m gonna smoke this pot”

Lmao
They’d be like: alright time to ruin his life over a plant
I built an AR 450 bushmaster dropped a nice 7 point at 60 yards. Bammm love it.
I enjoyed this, Beautiful rifle!
They can take the down elevator! The wood and checkering is gorgeous!
Greeting from Sweden :D
Had mine for a few years now. Devastating on pests with 225 FTX and great on game with 275g Barnes. You don't even need the brake, its a wonderful lightweight gun.
Love those short thumpers great looking rifle👍🏽👍🏽
I feel the same way about fat bored revolvers
Thanks for missing on purpose.
Love your videos Hickok45
Thanks for everything that you do !
Gotta reload it to make it economical to shoot. I have a real hard time finding it locally
Yeah I'm glad you brought me back down to earth with that lol.... I really want one but, no ammo=no good for me.
My good God ... If there is a war conflict, I would love to be on your side, for sure. That second shot was pretty impressive.
Wow. This man so amazing.
The one thing I think is missing on these commercial bolt rifles is stripper clip guides. I learned to shoot on milsurp rifles and there’s something to be said for that loading system. The clips are easy to carry, and reloading is fast once you get used to it. Thanks for showing us all the cool guns, Hickok!!
I wish Ruger didn’t cheapen the Scout up with a plastic trigger guard!
In 1987 when my buddy bumped his Stevens Savage up against a tree and broke plastic trigger guard I’ve hated them! I also hate plastic mainspring housings on 1911’s and plastic barrel bands on lever action rifles! Some things should only be made of steel or at least aluminum!
Iron sights at 200 yrds old school accuracy before we all got spoiled . I prefer it that way .
Morning, Hickok
Thank you for the informative content. I like how hickok45 videos are concise and entertaining to watch.
When he says "hard to see" that means he has 50 percent hit probability.
Happy hickok45 makes me smile!
Sounds like the follower spring could use some beefing up.
Sorry but I'm happy to see anybody shooting anything.
