Macaws screaming to go outside…

- Quick disclaimer
Both of these birds are free flight trained and have been flying outdoors almost daily for about 4-5 years.
To free flight train a bird takes time and patience, anywhere between 3-6 months for a flighted bird. It’s a lot of desensitisation, positive reinforcement, a bunch of recall training, a great diet etc. There are professional free flight trainers and experienced mentors which help.
It’s great that they can tell us they want out by looking slightly unsettled, screaming and staring outside haha.
We are in Bedfordshire UK where most of the birds of prey around us are either scavengers or would never even attempt to take down a bird like a macaw so no real risk there.
Noise wise for the neighbours, their are only loud a few mins a day, after a few flies, they chill out a lot and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
Hope this answers everyone’s questions and DO NOT let your untrained birds fly out your living room doors!

i can’t even let my budgies out my room, yet there’s people flightraining budgies, cockatiels, ect. jeez! that’s impressive
Do they want to go out in the winter at all?
We take them to parks in the winter maybe 2-3 times a week for maybe 20-30mins if its above 5 degrees C, they would rather be outside for a quick fly over being indoors all day long
Very informative and awesome way to keep the birds and make sure theyre happy!
@@MikeyTheMacaw You do a super job of giving the birds an enriched environment. Who knew there were free flight trainers? Fascinating!
You are the best feather father.. no cage, outdoor funtimes. A true role model.
Man you got the really patient neighbors
Yea we are very lucky haha
@@MikeyTheMacaw Lol so am I. I have indoor call ducks.
@@WobblesandBean i’m half lucky, i have an autistic brother
Cockatoos are louder, ask me how I know. My ruby is very quiet compared to the cockatoo!😊
@@wompwompwompwompwompwompalienzcomment of my late day lol
So nice to see a bird owner who keeps their house nice.
Haha we refuse to live in bird mess
@@MikeyTheMacaw Having the house so empty sure seems like it helps too. Those large wings look like they could bring a tornado in a room full of sheets and notes lol.
It’s so amazing the hours… years of training that you have put into M&M. You both have so many balls in the air, I just want to congratulate you for the brilliant job you are both doing for the feather and human family members 👼🦜🦜❤️🇦🇺
Thank you!!!
I would adore it if my neighbour had a Mikey and Mia. They are very well trained and their calls are amazing.
Me also, itd be a privilege
SQUAAAAAA
This put a big smile on my face! Thank you for taking good care of these guys. Parrots are too often mistreated, thankfully some, like these guys, are well taken care of :)
Your commitment to these birds is amazing😊
It’s like they talked to each other and agreed at the same time to demand to be let free. Truly fascinating creatures.
i am so impressed at how u meet all ur birds needs & of course happiness. Keep showing how birds should live if captive
I love how Mikey and Mia are so comfortable in their surroundings. They are part of the family right down to that great perch in that pretty room with a view. You have a gorgeous backyard and home. Lovely family. Lucky Macaws.
Awww thanks.
If i was your neighbor, i would interact with them. Lovely creatures!
How can a father understand his children?? He is a really good dad. Be happy. God bless you. ❤😂😅😊
Beautiful family, beautiful birds, beautiful souls. God bless y’all eternally
I think it's so amazing that they know when to come back in the house😊❤
What an amazing life you offer these magnificent birds ❤
Macaws are just the most pretty colored and awesome birds ever!!! ❤
Your neighbors must love you. 😂
Guarantee local animal control people get calls about lost birds and they have to explain over and over.
Better for the neighbours than a perishing barking dog.
These birds are beautiful.
Love the indoor perch ❤
@@catherinecarter8987.....no animal is better than another
@@catherinecarter8987have You ever lived next-door to 1 of these - no - then don't make a daft comment... I lived next-door to 1 of these bird's and it was a year of absolute HELL ....
I would rather Take 10 min. The birds are loud than the dogs that Bark all the time because someone Dared to use the Sidewalk in Front of their Houses 😂
I love the set up they have in the living room looks really cool by the book shelves❤ and I love that they can fly outside and get exercise and you dont have to worry about them. I am aware that they had to be trained of course. Otherwise you could lose them. Very cool. Thanks for sharing with us. 😊
Thanks. You may want to re look of those shelves though haha. Those aren’t books
@@MikeyTheMacawcould have fooled us! 😂🥃
I have two rescue macaws two and all day consists of be quiet, you're fine, nothing's wrong with you, no one's listening, no one likes complaining, and of course they respond back not worried, good luck with that, forget it
Lil powwow before...
"Scream?"
"Yes, scream"
*SCREAMING*
I have a setup similar to yours. I bought a 6' by 8', 3/16th inch thick plastic hardwood floor protector to put under my macaw's perch area. It wasn't cheap, but it's very easy to clean and beats the heII out of having to scrub the floor each day!
Beautiful birds but I’m 100% sure I’m not built for a real life dinosaur living in my house I have budgies.. and that’s good enough for my skill level.
Haha it’s not always fun
Our budgies used to fly around our family room and unhook the curtains. Always comic. I'm sure that some people must take a double take....no, those birds are not robins. Lol
I worked at a doggy daycare and my boss had like 50 bajillion macaws. They were hell, I just want to work with some cute dogs. Nope I’d have to mop the floor in the morning in the front room where the macaws were. Morning was their free roaming time so I got macaws that don’t like me biting my mop, trying to bite me, succeeding in biting me. Every day lol, I’d pet them and be nice but they have bolt cutters on their faces.
Everytime she’d walk outside they would scream top of their lungs. 5 macaws all trying to out scream the other it was literally ear piercing from the other room. I’ve owned small parrots and they are chill but just thinking about macaws make my ears ring. My boss. Left them at the shop and had a house separate and I don’t blame her at all
So so precious 🇺🇲🦜🦜🦜
I really love your setup , they way you kept it
Wow so beautiful birds I love them. The owner trained his birds very wisely to flying in back yard. ❤❤❤
I'm happy you raised both of them well so that they won't fly away!
Months of training goes into this.
And the neighbours are like: "He let the screaming sky puppies out again." 😂
Cool birds and all but that back yard is so cute. Love the minimal grass.
Aw that's so nice that they're able to go galavanting freely like that, like a cat! Love it!
How am I only now noticing that impeccable whiskey collection?
Haha thanks.
A wonderful family 😍❤️ I am so looking forward to following your hurtles of human toys and bird toys as your little human grows..
Birds are my FAVORITE animal. Just look at how pretty they are and they fly. So cool. I even love beaks!!!! I just love birds so much. 🦜
2 happy birds
Wow ❤ if I was your neighbour I would want them out every min to c them they are so beautiful 🥰
I thought the netting had gone in the last video, brave move. They get their way by screaming now as they know they'll wake the baby if not lol So beautiful. Looks like a lovely place you have, have you moved again?
Yea the netting has been gone a few months now. Not moved again, been here around 2 years now.
@@MikeyTheMacaw glad it's worked out so well. Must be because the nettings gone it looks so different 😊
Gorgeous long feathers. WOW!
I like that you have a dedicated brush for their spot
with these guys there is no need for a tv :D
good luck with looking after those in your house for the rest of your life.
Thanks haha
I'd loved to have you guys as neighbours 🥹🫶🏼✨
What country? Absolutely the way it should be. Respect to the owner 100 %.I get angry when anyone could own exotic animals, but in this situation I'm completely happy with ownership.
We are in the UK. Thank you.
blue and gold macaws screaming to go outside
These guys are really good; they know they can fly but not to stray too far from home.
They make beautiful wall ornaments! Very decorative!
Just love them!❤❤
"How much time we must sit in the room?"thank you,at last in an open air❤❤❤😂😂😂so fresh❤❤😂😂
I total subscribed ❤❤❤❤ awwww i love it😂❤❤❤
They are SO pretty❤
I love your book case!😂🎉
Books? Haha look again
@@MikeyTheMacaw trust me, i have looked very hard. 🤣 Bird and books great combination. 👍👍
Lol, it’s a whisky shelf
So beautiful.
This is how all pet birds should live. Being able to fly free outside everyday and having a warm spacious home indoors with great food, companionship and no cage
Absolutely not. One of my macaws is a good boy but real dumb. He can handle 1 new thing at a time and only if he gets a couple of stressful weeks to figure it out. His food dish broke and the replacement looked slightly different and that wasn't ok. I hand fed him for awhile because he might have starved to death before accepting the change even though I put all his favorite food and treats in it as a bribe. The outside world is not for him and he's fine with that.
@@brianvalenti1207I'd say your boy is very smart indeed. Being fearful is what kept them (and in fact humans) safe. In the wild he would have learned from his parents what was safe and then through careful exploration and experience of his own later in life. I thought my bird was dumb for being scared of the kettle every time he bit me while I was filling it up. But then I learned that the size of this giant shiny reflective thing coming at him while he was sitting on my arm terrified him so he naturally struck at the closest thing - my arm. So the only dummy here was me for not understanding I'm making him live in my foreign (to him) environment and expecting him to react as if it's not alien at all. My bottom line is we don't give animals the credit they're due and it'd be nice if we tried to see the world through their eyes. After all, Mickey and Mia didn't learn to free fly and return overnight 😉
I’d rather listen to Mikey than the peacocks who lived about 4 houses down from me. Every evening and early morning: “mur-der!!!” 😂
Gorgeous feather babies 🥰😍
They are beautiful 🤩 ❤❤❤❤
"Open the goddamn door!!!"
Beautiful ❤
That is the most beautiful green lawn I've ever seen.
Haha thanks.
My macaw loves watching this!
Yay
Love the way you did the wall tree. Amazing parrots I have always love macaws but to scared to free fly my parrots

Love that fence!
I've followed for a while now and seen you train them for free flight I know Mikey gave u a massive scare a couple of years back but they are so good now but my heart still always skips a beat when you let them out 😂😂🫣
I love having two animals that just crap freely on the floor...
Funny how we tell them to quiet hah hah waisted breath! Love these two human owners.
So amazing that they come back!
Pakaaaaaaaaa, makes me so happy to see them fly😍🤗😘🦜💖💖💖💖💕💕💕
my god is that a WALL of scotch?
Absolutely amazing
Beautiful they can do this, I pray there’s never a mishap where they don’t return.😢
Man if my neighbor had a beautiful bird like that I’d be trying to talk to the bird. I have a cockatiel who can be a little 💩 at times. Love him though.
Ils sont magnifiques les haras ils sont très gentils très sociable
I'd love to be a neighbor, are you kidding me, that would make my day!
As amazing as Mikey and Mia are, and they are amazing, that is some whisky collection. I hope every carton contains a bottle.
Haha thanks.
Living the best life ever 🥰
Mikey has claimed that house!
Wow....both are cute❤
Such demanding sweet babies❤
They are indeed!
What beautiful birds you have. How on earth to you get them to come back into the house?

@@MikeyTheMacaw thank you for explaining it to me
BEAUTIFUL,
MIIGWECH-4-SHAR-ING
😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
We have several bald eagles and red tailed hawks in our area. If I let my parrots out like that they’d be dead. That’s just another reason why I’ll never own one.
You have class with your pets❤😊
Beautiful rainbow sky chickens
I’d have to check for hawks before I let those beauties out
where I live their are hawks and alot of bald eagles and other rapture so it's a no go for us but we do fly indoors
Did you see its size?! I don't think anything short of a large eagle species is taken a beast like a macaw down!
@@Jaysjulesa mccaw would fk up a bald eagle. I doubt they'd be stupid enough to try
Idk, I think an American eagle could put up a good fight. Perhaps there are other birds called eagles that people are thinking of?
I would be afraid that they might get lost upon letting them go outside haha
Haha months of training goes into this
I’ve never seen a bird cage made of $200k in Scotch lol
😂😂
Qué hermoso y tranquilo el lugar donde están 😊
Dang ol son u like a verity of liquor
now, that is a Whiskey collection!
Beautiful
I love this coupkes bravery. I was terrified to let my boy off his kead...stupid realky everyone said hed stick to me...he always has. 11 year old border collie Denzil, sticks to me like glue, was paranoid to let him free big tine after a bad time or two in past
Beautiful ❤❤❤
Neighbors roof is their potty..
All it takes is one hawk
There are no hawks around here we live in Bedfordshire, only bird of prey is red kites
Good luck on them being quite
I bet your neighbours love you!!!😂
They don’t 😂
@@MikeyTheMacaw 🤣🤣
Amazing perch set up!!!!!!!❤
The beautiful dinosaurs must have their space
I called my cat mikey as well 10 years ago, it's cute and weird to meet a bird who has the same name as my cat haha
