    Another excellent video. Loved the Christmas music and that everything you repaired worked. The cinnamon rolls look delicious. Can you share the recipe?

    Hi guys and Happy New Year! .... My only fishing tip that I can offer (and it always works for me) is to go straight to a Fish Monger and purchase your fish. I've never been lucky with fishing!! Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘

      @sailingposttime  7 місяців тому +1

      We may have to supplement with the fish monger until we start catching more fish regularly!

    The new camera makes a huge difference! Great you sorted the engine out. You should see about installing a Victron BVM-712 voltage monitor. It will let you know exactly whats going on with your house and start battery banks and has a bluetooth app as well. Aloha!

      Glad you can notice the camera quality! We have a BMV-710…I wonder how that differs from the 712 🤔

    • @ryanh4889
      @ryanh4889 7 місяців тому

      The 712 has bluetooth built in so it doesnt need the add on bluetooth module.

    I bought two similar colored lures bought from POP and used them crossing from Oahu to Ensenada. Caught 7 Mahi and a Tuna. Highly recommend these. Also cedar plug lures work well too.
    Good luck!

    After seeing the starter segment I will suggest having a spare starter for a long cruise. Another thing that comes to mind is when starting an engine I would always watch the voltmeter for the cranking battery. As you turn the key, you would see a voltage drop and then when the engine starts and the key is released that voltage goes back up. If it doesn't that is your clue to shut off the battery switch instantly.

  • @arthur4818
    @arthur4818 7 місяців тому

    I've seen starters do this same thing. They stayed engaged after the engine was running and burned up. The problem was with the ignition switch shorting out and sending power to the starter all the time. You may want to verify that your switch is all clean and working well since it's out in the weather

    Nice seeing your content here again. Nice job on your sail today. However I’m confused about what happened to the 1977 As Is boat y’all purchased and was working on. Did I miss something that you sold it or do you still have it somewhere ???

    Make sure to rinse fishing poles and reels with fresh water after use.
    Also get the book Electrical for Dummies can save you much headache later on.

      Yes! Anything on the boat gets washed after sailing! Salt water works 24/7 and never takes a break! 😯

    Good job on the starter,PB blaster is great for stuck nuts and bolts.Sometimes the starter will hang up if it try’s to crank but the battery is low.Good to have a battery switch so you can turn it off if this happens.looks like you are ready to catch some fish,do you have a good gaff?

    • @sailingposttime
      @sailingposttime  7 місяців тому

      Yes! We got a used gaff at a used fishing store in CA! It’s come in handy a few times so far! We are READY to catch some fish!

    Funny, very funny, those expensive fishing will not last 15 minutes, if you don't pay attention to the size of your line. You reel should have 200 yards of 100 pound line.. and yes you need to learn to tie line abd to use cut bait or live bait. You can use you old cheap reel to catch bait. It's much cheap fishing and more effective.

    I'm not sure about this fishing tip but just pay attention to your lure selection and let me know how it goes. Years ago my brother and I did a test. He Put on a black lure and I put on a blue rather transparent lure. When the sun was shining I was catching fish. When the clouds appeared and blocked the sun, he was catching fish. This was without fail. The moral of the story is that fish can see the black (or darker solid color) better when it is cloudy. When the sun is shining they can see the lighter colors better. Hook up two rods with dark and light colors and let 'em rip. Then just let nature figure out if it will be sunny or cloudy, which can be different every few minutes or so. Let me know how it goes.

    • @sailingposttime
      @sailingposttime  7 місяців тому

      Ohhh I love this tip! We have two rods so this would work well with two different shades of lures. 😊

    • @leehoffman3604
      @leehoffman3604 7 місяців тому

      Yup, I know you have two rods! I've fished a lot in both salt water and fresh water. Fish don't hit a lure they can't see. I'm not saying they can't see one or the other when it is sunny or overcast. But the dominant color stands out. So when a fish hits just notice the sky.
