Ah, Tree's biggest bane so far is the burning flower. Makes sense. Flaming Espinas feels more unapproachable because it has very little recovery frames after its attacks. It isn't idle for very long, so big commitment attacks and slower counters will 100% fail. Also, his attacks are quite heavy, and you aren't meant to block several of them without all 5 guard. Your biggest issue currently is that you're spamming slow attacks without learning the monsters' openings. Essentially, all of your big booms were doomed from the start. Also, please learn to stay down after getting hit. Wirefalling or getting up has killed you a couple times.
What’s the point of this comment when he’s already beaten the monster?? He’s already learned everything you mentioned with his battered and bruised body, so your comment feels pointless to me. Yeah, he’ll probably forget all the lessons he learned, but what can we really do about Tree being Tree

Curious thing about the elder dragon classification. Yes, they are classified as natural disasters and intelligent but they can be beaten, as this cutscene showed. You suffering with espinas will always be entertaining. Great video tree 😊 Edit: when you do the furious rajangs video add the same effects as the apex rathalos
I'm so curious what they could do with White Espinas when they bring it over. I wonder how the poison flame tornado would look and work in a modern game.
5:55 gotta love being a lance main against this guy, I got into the habit of insta-guarding the charge, long backhopping into his face (with evade extender 3) and doing a quick-180 anchor rage guard to get that yellow buff and hit him right in the face. Aside from the last malzeno it is for me lol xD I can kill even the afflicted quite good by now with my duo blades, but flaming espinas? Still gives me chills and hatred 😂 I was happy when i finally had a competent group in the arena fight with espinas
I do suggest you start prepping an armor set for survival and attack for your chargeblade, Espinas (Dont know if both) give you the skill Indomitable Heart which when it goes active after you fill the blue bar it gives you, it can cut damage received by 75% making it a good survival skill.
I died to this guy so much i became great at the fight... very fun, very learnable, and his weapons mechanics are very fun and unique, i hope he comes back soon to the series.
you planning on ever going back to old MHs after you're done with rise? if so definitely give GU a try, it's everything good about rise but on a more methodical gameplay more akin to world
One interesting thing I thought of for Wilds is whether or not you can give weapon/ armor materials to other hunters you come across. I thought up this idea one time when I was playing base Rise; after a rampage with some other players I wanted to gift them the High rank rare drop of Valstrax (forgot the name) but found I could only give consumables.
I guess that the raw power and the combinations of the elements he uses counters very well the deffensive capabilities of the Cb, don't be shy on using traps and bombs becuase that's part of the hunt too.
Try not to wirefall out of every single attack you get hit by challenge *Impossible* You shouldn’t ever wirefall after being hit with a heavy attack just in case there’s a follow-up attack. So long as you’re laying on the floor after being hit you will be invulnerable to damage, so it’s a good way to scout for those follow-ups. Also never take your eyes off the monster when healing or doing anything else that would require you to stand relatively still, otherwise you run the risk of getting hit with something you weren’t expecting or you miss a big opening. And lastly, you need to take advantage of the regular AED after a guard-point because I’ve noticed you tend to waste all of your phials on missed SAED’s as well as being too slow to dish out your SAED after guard-points due to the monster being too fast to recover after attacks. Any damage that goes towards the K.O is useful for a weapon as positioning dependant as Charge Blade, and once you get that AED K.O you can safely do those SAED’s without being interrupted.
poison and fire resist my guy. we may have "god killing sets" but we can cart to some of the smallest things if we arent fully prepared. thats part of why i like monster hunter: theres a preparation aspect to it that the later game fights do sometimes require to have an easier time. but 90% of the community is just always thinking about how they can hit the monster really hard, and you wonder why they dont like fighting something like Lunastra in World. the main reason? no fireproof mantle, no windproof, no healing over time or consistent healing to outpace the fire DoT, and even still, no usage of slinger or water element to put out the fires. it makes a huge difference if we prepare for a hunt but no one ever does. IRL, you arent going to go hunt a grizzly bear with just a shotgun and hope to kill it with zero issues, and if you are, most likely you wont be coming back
I don't think there's anyway to block the boom, from my experience the explosion seems to have multiple lingering hitboxes. Also Flaming Espinas always tends to do about 3 consecutive charges, Regular Espinas on the other hand seems to do it at random. Once you get the hang of it, Flaming ends up being a lot more predictable because of this
I'll be honest, i also had issues with the guy, took my brother and i like two days, total of 12 hours and 45 minutes to beat him ONCE, worst part, he didnt need the mantle, he got 2 from fhe carves and one from the rewards, i had gotten NOTHING
Honestly, as a gunner for most of the game, I found Lucent harder than flaming. Hes definitely higher stakes but def down doesnt matter so much because a single hit is death anyways. More than anything, try to stay mediumish away from him and bring Ev Ex because he turns a goddamn dime. Never stay directly in front of him, always angle to one side or the other because you absolutely need that room to dodge back and to the side, and NEVER parry his huge fireball because he almost always follows up with another in short order.
