- Hey guys, ive been asked several times to do a mobile hunt break down of what my preffered method of mobile hunting is.
Here in this video I break it all down as to what stand and why and then all the accessories I need on my hunt.
Hope this is helpful!

Great setup. I’m new to run n gun. I’m currently using the Hawk helium run n gun. Love the content keep up the good work.
Good luck this season!!!
I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the Wolfpack! Appreciate your reviews and good information.
Really like mine! Thanks for the support John!
Another great review. Thanks
Thank you
Great video. Very educational on lwcg pack.
Thanks man!
Another great vid! Now Let’s see some hunting content!
Yes sir!! Working on it!
My work buddy just gave me a climber! No more heavy 1990s steel treestand, finally in a better setup, so grateful because my hunting budget is minimal this year. Hoping to put it to use in the morning!
Oh man! Thats awesome, I used a climber for like my whole childhood 😄. Ive thought about going back to one several times for certain areas I hunt.
Im hoping it pays off, headed out the door in about 10 minutes!
Thats is a sweet stand and bag setup. I have been using an Ogio backpack that my boss got me with our work logo on it. I used electric tape to silence the zipper pulls and it has a ton of pockets and mesh organizers inside of the main two pockets.
Thats cool man how do u like it?
For not being a "hunting backpack" it works great! Not too big or small the only thing id like different is for it to be camo not black, but so far so good.
Early season HSS X-1 harness. It doesnt have pockets just a harness but it is so light and comfortable when it is hot out. Also look into some 8mm linemans and tether ropes they pack up way smaller and are just so easy to use especially with ropeman and Kong.
Thanks man! Ill probably grab one lol, I had an 8mm tether but fricken lost it coming out one night through a horrible swamp. Still pissed about it. This swamp was soo bad Im not going back in to look for it. LOL, rookie mistake putting it in my pocket.
Love your videos man. 1. I always get antzy one im in the tree and in not able to shoot been burned that way more than once. Also headlamp trick....or what I do is as soon as I take my headlight off or pack it up once day has broke I flip 1 of the batteries around. I always keep a zip lock bag with a couple babywipes...been without those before lol
I used to do the same thing flipping a battery in my light until I dropped one in the swamp lol. I always take some baby wipes too lol
Good set up!
Thanks brother!
Thanks for sharing this. Heading to the UP in 10 days!
Good luck man! Hope you have a good time!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors thank you! Happy hunting back at ya!
Saddle hunting is definitely a commitment like you said. For me it was just fun to do something new this year. I am really liking it as far as lighter smaller package and just new and interesting. I have been bowhunting for 45 years sometimes you just have to do something outside your box. Keep up the great videos
David, It is a very bit commitment man! I just have a great system that is working really well for me this season. I do a lot of swamp hunting and just can for the life of me figure out how I could saddle hunt the trees im getting in. Later in the rut I think the saddle will be a better option because ill focus more on funnel areas and doe bedding and I think that the saddle will work better in these areas. Good luck to you this season!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Im in big woods here no swamps. Saddle works great early season. Probably go to my climber once leaves come down and I position in funnels and travel corridors and have to climb much higher. Hunting bedding I will go back to saddle. Just more tools to make hunt fun and productive.
Hey I'm thinking about running the stand thr same way will 1 set of j-hooks work to keep 4 minis and the double step . .the website says it wouldn't hold 3 sticks to the stand
And which length mini are you running
@@doorman6157 im not 100% sure I got my J hooks from lowes for half the price. I got 2 different sizes 2 are longer than the other 2 for when I run 5 sticks
Love your reviews
Thank you!
I must say, very nice selection of camo in the tree at 17:51. To me the pack seems a bit excessive, but then I don't video Hunt so I don't really need such a pack.
@@karmas.busdriver that was a fun hunt, super deep on public. Was hunting a true booner that year!!
Good setup! I’ve been forced to learn how to sew to fix some of my gear and now my wife is asking me for advice!! Slipper slope. Lol
Hahaha, I wanna learn how to sew so bad lol, need to just watch a youtube video
You are super Hi-Tech and love it. Minimal weight allows you to hunt in buck country🤙
Yes sir! Definitely some good ones around this year too!
Great Video!
Thanks Bobby
I was about to ask what was wrong with your arm... Nice review of the lone wolf items... Hope you get a nice deer this season!
Thanks Jay! Yeah got the fricken poisen sumac or something.... real bad
Great review.
Thanks 🤝
I ditched my pack a couple of years ago and went to a waist pack I bungee onto my stand....if it doesn't fit I don't bring it. When I carried a pack I tended to fill it 😆
Thats a good idea! I always fill mine 😂
Good stuff. I’m out there grinding to, wouldn’t be as fun if it was easy anyways good luck.
Oh yeah man its a grind forsure!! Love every minute of it too!
Another great video. Hey can you keep the cam straps on the sticks but still stack them like you did?
Thanks man! Im not 100% sure, I would think u probably could. I just like to take them off and keep them in my bag.
Great stuff. Please share some info on your lineman rope & tether. I just bought a muddy rope for $12 or something but man it is short and frustrating.
Sorry I missed this comment. I’ve tried a lot of different tethers and I’ve now landed on the latitude 8mm vapor lines and love them.
Im using the same setup except I have 4 beast sticks mounted under the seat I notice for me when im carrying in . the stand whats to pull away from my shoulders and dig into my lower back ive used lwcgs shoulder straps I also tried eberlestocks shoulder harness it still does it im pretty sure its because how the pack sits on the stand the best way I found so far was feeding the packs shoulder straps through yhe stand then attach to lashing straps hows your experience been with that
I havent had this issue, I keep my shoulder straps really tight and short so it rides high on my shoulders. Plus I have broad a** shoulders too. Did u try and tighten them up?
I’m using a Novix Helo this season, how does that .5 compare sitting the the tree? I know there is a weight difference between them but is it comparable in comfort? Also, do you feel like the lone wolf sticks bite the tree well? I love my beast minis but they are sucking to pack! Thanks for sharing the set up!
The helo is wayyyy more comfortable than the .5 the .5 is actually miserable to sit in for longer than 6-8 hours but most of my hunts are like 4 hours and Ill just stand the whole time. The lwcg minis bite the tree extremely well. I like them but prefer double steps.
Great content couple of questions
What safety harness do you recommend?
What are your thoughts on the wild edge steps?
Thank you
Thank you, sorry Imissed this one. I like an HSS harness or a Kill deer harness, ive never used the wild edge steps so I cannot speak to them sorry.
Nice rig !! I’m not a fan of how the aides stack on mine thinking about taking them off the minis the rest of the season
Not working out for you? I criss cross them on the versa button and they seem to stay better
Got rid of your Beast sticks. Blasphemy... Only kidding. Great video.
I bought a set of mini beast for my saddle setup😂😂 I traded the first set I had last year!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors I bought my Beast Sticks on their 1st order and have used them ever since. I was intrigued by the LWCG sticks, but I didn't like how my XOP sticks would always loosen up and need constant maintenance. So I figured stick with the Beasts and no moving parts. My only complaint is I am 5'8" so they are a bit long for my stubby Polish legs. I'm afraid the minis would be too short and I would need 5 to reach my desired average heights.
I love this set up and I think it will work very well with a climbing stand set up as I am a new amputee of my right leg just above the knee but I love the way you did your pack set up. I noticed that you did not include any calls or sents of any kind in your pack, is there a reason for that? I carry a grunt tube and doe bleat can along with a rattle bag in mine also since I am a diyer I also carry renewable sent wicks that a buddy and I came up with. I also carry a knife with gut hook and hatchet combo for cleaning the deer and splitting the hip bone area for me it is better that a saw I just baton it thrue the pelvic area and no splinters or bone dust. Let me know what you think. I also have a few smaller packs that I use for hunting that I water proofed with a home made water proofing agent that works fantastic but it takes time to make and do and not every one has the time to do so. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more of your stuff out there soon.
So first off, thank you. Secondly I dont use any calls in early season but will add a grunt tube in pre rut. I also do not use any scents. Interested to hear more about your water proofing regimen!!
really liking your honest down to earth videos telling it like it is. im a bigger guy too 6’3 280lbs so your videos i can relate too. just wondering how you have larger nobs on your j hooks. did you add them yourself? thanks keep up thegreat videos!
Thank you really appreciate that!! I bought different knobs from ace hardware, u ca. Find them at lowes or hd too. 1/4 20
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors thank you sir!
I went with the tethrd system and man does it make me put my hang on beast stand away. Cannot beat the lightweight and compactness of saddle hunting.
I dont doubt it man! I need to bust mine out this season!
How do you like the LWCG compact sticks with aiders? I just ordered the new 20s with aiders I was told the best thing to do was dubble lock nut all the bolts.
I like them a lot actually, they bite very well on the tree and fell really sturdy! 20s with aiders sounds real good! Maybe that will help but ive never needed to do this. I jut keep an extra half inch wrench and socket in the truck and give them a 1/8th turn when needed! Good luck this season I hope you smack a good one!
Nice video. I was |__| close to buying the new .5 Lone Wolf but then I saw he & his family are poachers, so I am looking for something else. Probably get a Beast Stand unless so other company comes out with a light weight, American made, hang-on.
I am really thinking about buying the Sitka Tool Belt for my mobile pack, I carry very little into the woods so I think a small wait pack will be ideal.
What stand did you end up getting?
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Beast Stand and sticks. Will be putting it to good use this fall. Goal is to practice in the backyard (setting up/taking down) starting this Spring. Too cold here in NE WI to be outside right now!
@@NHydeWI Awesome man! Good luck! I love my beast mini sticks! I use them when I saddle hunt.
How much does you stick/stand set up weigh as shown?
I also love my .5 with the minis. So easy to hang. What camera are you running?
Sony Rx10Iv
Definitely need a big boy review of the lwcg double steps I see they only have a 250# rating . So those may be a no go for me. Was trying to decide between a .5 and 1.0 stand and I may wait for the .75 .
I could probably do that, I only have 1 though so it might be kinda hard to do. Ill see what I can do!!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors thank you.
I have seen some reviews of the Tethered one stick and they seem to squirm a lot when you transfer weight side to side if that makes sense. I’m hoping these hold up to the weight cause I’m going to go with there stand and they integrate so nice.
How does the double stick compare to the mini sticks? The double stick seems to have mixed reviews on kick out. Thanks.
I have honestly never had a kickout on my doubke step stick. I run the strap under the taps and set it hard.
I just scored 4, 17 inch compacts with 17 inch cable aiders and two j hooks for $250 on FB marketplace. The guy kept the straps for new sticks tho so I have to buy those.
Thats a solid deal man!! I mainly use 17" compacts
I thought so!! Pumped
what stick length do you use? i was thinking of the double 20s for myself..
I got the 18s I think.
Where did you get the knobs for the j hooks?
Ace hardware, lowes has them too
I know im probably gonna get alot of hate comments but o well. Id love to get into a climbing rig but I don’t want a climbing tree stand. I want something to hang up for the season mainly one or two trees for the complete season, but i dunno what to trust. Im right at the max of almost all tree stands at 350 what you recommend? Are they under rating equipment or over rating it? I just wanna stick some bacon when im home 😁
I doubt you would get any hate, the old lone wolf stand used to be rated at 350, the XOP stands are rated at 350 too. As always Id try and find an old lone wolf stand but if you leave it up someone gonna steal it. As always too, make sure to tether in your lifeline!
Get the Kifaru One Wrap and just roll up your compression straps.
Got a link??? I googled that and nothing came up.
What’s your honest assessment of the performance hanging and how they bite the tree between the beast stick minis vs LWCG double sticks
Beast sticks wins almost every category minus packability.
I have no hole beast minis for saddle hunting and love them.
Thanks that’s what I’ve gathered from all of the research I’ve done I just got a DS .5 delivered today to go along with five beast mini sticks I bought a few weeks back gives me plenty of time to figure out how I am going to kit it all up thanks for the quick response excellent content as usual
can you do a review on the LWCG mini sticks really curious about your thoughts on them after using them now for a good period of time. Hope you and the fam had a great Independence Day 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Honestly Ive always wanted too but I have the 1st gen sticks with the rubber coating on them. So its not a real representation of the newer sticks. My opinion on them now is there awesome and I love them. I like a double stick for the top step though. I hate hanging my stand off the single step at height.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors gotcha I recently added a 14” LWCG double step stick to my set up for that very reason to stand on when setting the .5 stand and yeah i really do like the minis I’ve worked with the whole set up enough now that I’m really comfortable with my system now still waiting for the waist pack to arrive and I will be all set
Solid sticks man! I beat my minis up too! Hahah throw them out of the trees and crap lol
Did you have any issues with the double step sticks? Online says 250 pound weight rating. I’m 225/230 muscular build and want to buy but makes me a tad nervous. What you think?
Nope. zero issues. Id go with 14s or 17s The 20s would surly flex some.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors that makes sense. Okay thanks!
Do you have a discount code by any chance? Have to ask haha about to get those double sticks.
No, I wish lol
Have you tried the tetherd one sticks?
No not yet, ive held them. I haven't read too many great reviews on them so I don't really have much desire to buy any.
Hey man, what length compact sticks are those? I'm about to pull the trigger on a new rig and I can't decide on what length compact sticks I want to get. The 20's are on sale
17 inch
17s inch
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors thanks man
@@justinjhauser5110 absolutely
That’s a great setup man. Your arm looks bad man. What happens
Fricken poisen sumac just tore me up!
Hey man how do you like the two seat pads ?
It was great, until I just got the 22" post and run a .75 seat now.
Do you think the XOP Tour Seat Pad would fit the .5 ?
What’s your camera?
Sony RX10IV
I've bow hunted for more than 25 years. My eyes are forcing me to switch to crossbow to be more ethical to the animal. I'm thinking of the LWCG stand.
I like the .5 seems like the best stand to crossbow hunt out of.
check out the .75 too!
A 2023 version of your new setup? A lot has changed since this video
It has changed a lot. Ill put it on the schedule for this summer. thanks
Whats the total weight of the stand n 5 step?
You know, ive never weighed with 6 sticks. Im gonna say around 8lbs would be my guess
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors i mean the whole setup. 6 step pluse the .5 stand.
Got a LWCG 1.0 myself. Great products but no way in hell am I dropping $300 on a backpack or $150 on a fanny pack
Right on! I used a badlands pursuit pack for several seasons.
Dude, what did you do to your right arm? That doesn't look good, hope you got that doctored!!
HAHAH it was poisen sumac and it absolutely sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors yes sir, am very allergic to poison ivy,
generic Calidril always helps me
@carstensxdm45 man it got so bad I had to get heavy steroids to get rid of it. Then I got Covid lol
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors yeah, had that also, not fun. glad you are up and around, stay safe and healthy
@@arthurcarstens you too!!!
Id rather go heavier, for a long walk, then hours of being uncomfortable.
I have more comfortable options but this is my 100% go to system most of the season!!
You are super Hi-Tech and love it. Minimal weight allows you to hunt in buck country🤙
You got that right! Im all about HI TECH LOL
