Rest in peace and harmony Cecil, I only heard your playing and knew what I could of you through repeated watching of this particular video, but from what I can tell you were a genuinely nice guy and a beautiful pianist. May your legacy live on

When I was at Cornish their great older Mason&Hamilin was being completely gone over by a great elder statesman of a technician in Seattle RIP who upon my request explained the basic difference in design philosophies in the piano world. This explanation included the relationship between the rim and the soundboard and soundboard thickness as well as rim thickness. Now I understand why the innovations made by Steinway and Mason & Hamilin were so significant in extending the dynamic range of modern instruments.

Franz Lizst described the M&H sound as "fire and ice". I've enjoyed every M&H I've ever played, with their rip-roaring bass, cello-like midrange, soaring treble, and responsive action. They are wonderful instruments.

Your playing was wonderful/splendid and the sound of that piano... no words. Thanks for sharing what Rachmaninoff thought of Mason and Hamlin - I see why he made that remark.

Radial tensioner rules! The Darker American instrument yet still capable of going fully bombastic.

Hi, I would like to ask a question . Mason and Hamlin invented a screw stringer tuning system. Why are you not using it ? (ok, I understand that 100 years ago it was too expensive, but now days , with the new technologies .... ? )

It is "The Prayer" sung by Josh Groban and others. It is commonly performed vocally or instrumentally at weddings.

Is it just me, or are a few of the notes slightly out of tune? Seems a bit of a “whoopsie” for a demo video of your premier product.

    • @Freewheal

Yes; One or two treble notes are 'ringing' as I term it!
