    Another nice little swarm. It looks like this hanging the queen on the branch technique works pretty good. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice catch of the queen David! I love the crawdad reference. Haven't caught crawdads like that since I was 15 at my gramps place down in Georgia.
    Another great informative video!

    How did this go ? Did they successfully form a colony in a new box ?

    Would it be possible for you to get a smart TV and sync your phone or comp to it so you can get a larger live crowd? I live in Missouri and can’t drive out, but would be curious to see how the coffee chat goes. Have a moderator or two to answer questions, I’ll get some coffee and donuts so I feel like I’m part of the group.

    Why would you not put a box on the ground to capture the swarm? Put the queen inside and let them go in???

      If I've learned anything from watching Dave's videos, he's hoping to encourage more bees to cluster on the queen than just what you saw lying on the ground.

      Impressive Dave. Good job. I witnessed a swarm once. Stood right in the middle of them. A couple of “bumps” but no stings. If anyone wants to see what GOD can do, watch a swarm of bees. Thanks for the videos and advice. My girls seem to be holding their own. Just a few wax moths but none visualized in the hive.

    I had a small swarm on the ground in my back yard today. We don't have any man made be hives around here, so I'm not sure why they were in my back yard. It's early spring so they were quite small. Im not sure what type of bees they were. I hope they weren't wasps ?

    Hi I am a new beekeeper and have just caught a swarm in a five frame nuc . How long do I keep them in the nuc before moving them into the hive? Tanks Tim

    • @rickwaldripsr.5113
      @rickwaldripsr.5113 5 років тому

      Move them into a full-size hive before they use up those 5 frames. Otherwise, they will prepare to swarm again. This time of year I normally always put a swarm into full-size (but single deep) hive. An entrance reducer might be wise until they get their numbers up.

    Saw some on the ground today. A queen from my queen castle didn't make it far from the hive. Put her back in, guess we'll see. Can queens get to tired to make it all the way home? I've tripped on the stairs after a long day...

    Hi David, the small swarm I caught Wednesday while at work I found and marked the queen yesterday. They had some comb started but it looked like it was being drawn between 2 frames and not across the foundation. How can you get them not to do that?

    • @baconneggs2406
      @baconneggs2406 5 років тому +1

      If your using plastic foundations they need to be coated in wax

    • @jpthedelawarebeeman6239
      @jpthedelawarebeeman6239 5 років тому

      Thanks Brad, I'll have to check what I used I think it was old plastic foundation that I had scraped back down to plastic. I have some new single coated plastic foundation. I may switch 2-3 of the 5 out and see if that helps. I'll spray them with sugar water as well. Noobie here so I don't have comb yet. I do have 2 nucs but I don't want to steal from them yet. I just got them a few weeks ago and I'm trying to build them up a bit.

    First year keeper here. After installing one of my packages there was a cluster of bees that stayed behind in my package box for 2 days. There were lethargic. I tapped the box and laid it next to the hive opening. They were still there the next day in the cluster. I can't help but think there was a queen in there. Next day I found the cluster on the ground dead.

If you need any testimonial of your bees from an unpaid source, I am here to tell anyone they would be very happy and have great luck with Barnyard bees. We have also made 2 splits from one hive.

    One of my issues is I just started this year. I had two packages delivered from Kelly Bee, I know I know, next year I’ll order two from you. The moment I put them in small hive beetles have been all over them. I sit her every evening with the bees and chickens and I kill 10-15 beetles every night looking to get in my hives. I put beetle blasters in the corners and made traps out of political signs, which seemed to help. Now I have two large beetles harassing the bees.

    This just actually blew my mind. I see one bee in my yard and am dodging it like a lit bottle rocket with the tail cut off. Here you are digging through a pile of bees and and are picking up queens by their wings. Why aren't the bees seeing you as a threat???

    • @snowieherrera7710
      @snowieherrera7710 5 років тому

      Cause they love him. He is their keeper, hence, bee keeper. His calmness transfers to them. The only time my girls have stung me is when I did something wrong to them. And once stung, more will come.
