Great video, I just bought a 4.0 P38 I plan on servicing it next week. Can I ask, you drained the oil then out the sump plug back in to change the filter, Then put the new filter on then removed the sump plug - was this because the oil pan was not wide enough to catch the oil dripping from the sump plug and the oil filter at the same time?
Nice, going to look at 01 4.6 hse with 70k miles it’s been sitting for a bit gonna give it the run down, how reliable has this been always heard nightmares about p38s but honestly they don’t seem that bad

You can with this engine because the filter mounts vertically, Its not really necessary i feel.

Yes that’s exactly it. I normally have two drain pans but one was still full from another one of my vehicles.

This one’s been very reliable. I stay on top of maintenance. If you can work on it yourself parts are cheap so not too bad
