I totally agree she still looks young why can't she play moana😢. We need video of the characters. We love to a live action movie to me it just makes sense
This comment...you said it. I enjoyed his movies in the past, but last few years.. I just can't. He wants to do everything, and take control over everything, and be the center.... stop please. I want to still like him... but he is making it hard.
Well you didn’t accept Ben Platt as a high school student even at a younger age than Channing, I’m quite sure that would be the disappointing reaction to Carvalho if she played the role
My take from this is that they want real representation. The rock is the same color as his character and this young lady is not. It’s giving more opportunities to darker Pacific Islanders. Colorism is really and I respect her for acknowledging and trying to do her part as an ep to give space. Tbh I wish more actors were so selfless.
Colorism works both ways. I'm super offended every time someone says I don't look like "a real Puerto Rican" because I look white. Have we reached the point in cancel culture that people are even afraid to be themselves? This is deeply depressing news. I hope she wasn't bullied out of this role and that this was a decision she made alone without the influence of others. I can't help but picture the seen where she sings "I am Moana!" at the tip of the boat but now someone goes "nah your not dark enough" cut scene and movie over.
@@Luiswow719 ofcourse it works both ways but the case here is that she feels uncomfortable playing a brown skin Polynesian as a light skin one, idk why are you completely changing the subject
@@lill.2795 well because people these days are so shallow that if a character despite being played by an actor who is actually of that culture dares to have a lighter skin tone they are horrible people and should be bullied. I mean they even do that with voice actors now because I guess the amount of melanin you have will just come out in your voice. Representation really doesn’t matter as much as people say it does. It only matters to people with extremely low self-esteem, need consist validation, and who ironically push ideals shared by Jim Crow.
@@keithkoganeislife3144 we have to understand that being a part of a culture doesn't mean you won't be excluded from colorism from the same culture, many cultures follow colorist ideas and preferences like using whitening creams and bleaching their skin in order to follow a beauty standard created by someone else,in order to defeat colorism we have to address it and put more dark skin people in media of said culture
@@lill.2795 you know a lot of people who use whitening cream or bleaching products use them mostly for skin issues, such as dark circles, evening out skin tones, or even medical issues like dark spots. And every time a lighter skinned person who comes from the same background as the character they are playing, people bully them and say that they don’t belong in such a role. But if it happens the other way around, then it’s celebrated like with Cleopatra, Anne Boleyn, Joan of Arc, etc. All who are White/light skinned but whose actors are Black. So by your logic they do shouldn’t be playing those roles since they don’t match the same colour as the actual people they are portraying.
I felt the same way. I spoke to another UA-camr and we feel that Johnson was butthurt that Black Adam bombed and he wanted a win, so he is going for a Disney live acting movie. Those films printed money. To me they can age up the character a bit. Come on, if she was asked she would do it in a heartbeat. Anyone would. And yes this whole thing is about Johnson. He is likable and charismatic, but he has an ego and is a control freak. I never even saw the animated Moana, and I doubt I will give this a see. Nothing against it, it just didn't capture my attention.
I want to say, they had a lot to get done in Black Adam and for me it was done successfully! Let me take a look at those box office results, one second...
she never said it was to do with her age? playing a character physically is very different from just voicing one. maybe she just feels she wouldn’t be able to manage it physically? or maybe she just doesn’t want to! 🤷♀️
Omg she can probably play tafiti ❤ that way someone great can represent darker skinned islanders as Moana and we still will get to see auli’i in the film!
If you're not going to be Moana, then here are my other suggestion for live-action Disney Princess remakes future. Ashley Callingbull as Pocahontas Dove Cameron as Elsa Laura Harrier as Tiana Amanda Seyfried as Rapunzel Sadie Sink as Princess Merida Emma Stone as Anna
Yeah thats odd halle bailey is 23 she filmed at 21 and 22 im surprised they're not letting her play moana 😭 She looks very young still! Unless they're not planing on starting on this movie for 4 years or something but even so... You're right why does the Rock get special treatment in a way hes definitely on the older sides 😂 Well I know its because hes a more established actor but still i was really looking forward to her playing the role. But also someone knew would be fine too... I'm sure she'll help pick someone great!
You could be disappointed but saying that The Rock doesn’t look like the character hahaha he’s totally inspired on him, just throw hair on Dwaine and that’s it, hahaha she was just the voice, she a whiter older version of the character, let’s look for the girl who covers the truly ethnicity, you are just mad like always
Yup, I'm aware that Maui was inspired by Dwayne, but to actually look like him, Dwayne is going to have to gain probably about 75 pounds and lose all of his cut muscle. So for you, to "truly" play Moana, the person's place of birth and ethnicity should not be factors. It should purely be based on skin tone. Thank goodness you're not in charge. And I did 5 segments yesterday, and this is the only one where I was critical of the situation. You keep coming for me, and keep failing spectacularly.
if its not auli’i, stop that remake pls oh pls. they can replace maui this movie is all about the main, moana is aulii period. make a new made movie stop ruinning the movie
How do you know that the movie hasn’t even come come out don’t judge a book by its cover you don’t even know that the movie hasn’t even come out yet. I know it’s gonna be terrible. Yeah, very nice to say. Don’t say nothing at all. Don’t be disrespectful watch your mouth. If you wanna go there, I will watch your mouth. The movie hasn’t even come out.
Your comment is offensive. You can say matches Moana in color but not say she doesn't look like a pacific islander. Your stereotyping, and I say that as a Puerto Rican who looks white as hell so I speak from experience. Don't tell someone they aren't what they actually are because the picture you have in your head doesn't match what your eyes see.
Seems like they made her an executive producer just to appease people complaining she isn’t playing Moana…
I totally agree she still looks young why can't she play moana😢. We need video of the characters. We love to a live action movie to me it just makes sense
I’m having Dwayne fatigue

We accepted Stockard Channing as a high school student in Grease at the age of 33. She looks young enough for the role. This is disappointing.
Well you didn’t accept Ben Platt as a high school student even at a younger age than Channing, I’m quite sure that would be the disappointing reaction to Carvalho if she played the role
She only plays highschoolers. It's not because she's too old. She's younger than Halley Baley, Emma Watson, Naomi Scott, etc.

A 'Black Adam v Shazam' situation.
I feel like Dorothy in the birthday party episode and I’m saying “Please tell me you didn’t do this”
💔💔💔 why isn’t she in the live adaption
I need auli on the new live action
I really hate the rocks ego
Why do we need a live action?
We don’t
I agree that she's too old for the role but I certainly hope they come up with an incredible cameo for her.
She's not too old for it. She'd younger than ALL the other live action actors. This is a braindead take
This is disappointing. Can't tell if this is the studio or not

Can someone explain to me how the word failure is thrown around here? Im missing it.
Google says 400M... This is a failure now?
Omg I hate him and his stupid ego so much. This is so sad! She should play her! It sounds like a Disney executive told her to say this.
she never said it was to do with her age? playing a character physically is very different from just voicing one. maybe she just feels she wouldn’t be able to manage it physically? or maybe she just doesn’t want to! 🤷♀️
Dwayne doesn't look anything like the character. She could be her character. The character doesn't have to be the same age as the first movie.
Like this one. Explode this cell.
Catherine Laga‘aia as Moana
Omg she can probably play tafiti ❤ that way someone great can represent darker skinned islanders as Moana and we still will get to see auli’i in the film!

This better be some weird joke you're trying to pull!
I can see Zendaya being Moana
Dwayne out for himself as usual

Rock clearly does this project for his own purposes after recent DC failures
His DC movie made more than all the flops this year lol
Honestly, between 21-23 Don't ask me to do anything, I'm with Alui'i! Let me EP lol
Prioritize mental health and well being first and foremost!!!
There will be more roles for Alui'i!

Wtf no thanks
Lea Salonga is cancelled. When fired employees get violent, despite the Filipino's Policemen's League's efforts, they can be arrested.
Another Disney live action disappointment, another boycott.

if its not auli’i, stop that remake pls oh pls. they can replace maui this movie is all about the main, moana is aulii period. make a new made movie stop ruinning the movie
With out her that movie sucks !!!!
I dont like this
The live action Moana is gonna be terrible......

who cares the live action moana is still going to be another cash grab movie for disney
Good, they should caste a girl that looks Pacific Islander
Auli'i is an actual Pacific Islander.
