Hey you. Yes you. -ur a pen addict - doesnt mean you can draw well but still love pens - loves notebooks - have many unused notebooks because they are "precious" - likes unusual art supplies - broke Not really accurate but yeah this is me so might be you
"Usually hauls are for fashion or make-up..." WHAT? To me, hauls are for trips to Michael's, ACMoore, Hobby Lobby, Dick Blick, etc. But then, I don't watch fashion/makeup videos, lol. I've only ever seen hauls for craft and art supplies. :-P
Over here in the UK it's Cult Pens. I could look back into my account to see how much money I have spent on pens over the last few months but I daren't..although being addicted to pens is way better than crack..I think. Haha!
I feel so silly...I used to have so many of those gelly roll pens when I was a teen, but got rid of them as I got older thinking I had "grown out of them". Wish I had held on to them...
I have had a pen addiction for years! I was the kid who loved back to school time because it meant all new supplies. I even worked for an office supply company for 7 years, starting in '97. That was the year Sakura invented gel ink and the Gelly Roll line was born. I still prefer a good gel pen over all others. The Gel Writer pens are really nice and there are several great sets of them to be found on Amazon. I also have the big set of the Tombow Dual Brush markers. Jury is still out on those. I am still a huge lover of Staedtler colored pencils and use them in most of my coloring books, especially if the book is a Johanna Basford book. Here I am, almost 51 and I am an adult coloring addict. At least my mother knows what to buy me around holidays and birthdays. She's kept me in books. one book she didn't get me was The Magic Path. That's one where I do a lot of mixing pencils and pens. I have never considered myself an artist but rather a colorist. I would love to know if there are any adult coloring books or journals that you like and recommend.
+Jas Bhamra try paytm and search for Sakura.. You get micron fine liners, gelly roll pens and other stuff.. Its not like you don't get stuff in India.. 😊
I got a pack of new gelly roll pens, and they work so well! The color just bursts out of the pen, and it's so smooth. Although you have to wait for the ink to dry for maybe a minute(if you color with them in your sketchbook).
I loved it when you said that hauls are usually for fashion and clothes, but you spend all your money on art supplies.. I totally feel the same way and identify with you completely..!! If I had my way, then I would go to an art store and buy their entire inventory of paper, pens and washi tape!! 😀😀 My friends laugh at this fantasy of mine, but if comes true I'll be the happiest person ever!! Love your haul!! Had a question though.. You live in a desert..how do you manage with the dust on your stuff in your studio??
This is similar to how I feel as well; I don't do drugs, I don't buy tons of clothes, I don't binge on make-up, etc. My guilty pleasures are art, and tea. Both of those enrich my life, so I don't feel so bad when I put money into them. :)
I can totally relate! I also have a pen addiction... Highly recommend the Sakura Gelly Rolls in Stardust (has tiny multifaceted glitters) & Glaze (dries slightly raised & shiny / 3D effect)... Also if you like Sakura gel pens, Dong-A gel pens are also excellent.
Art hauls are my fave! I really like how u review what u like and explain what the products do and how u like to use them ....the pros and cons and seeing them in action! I really like Fabre castells pit pens ..all Sakura pens are cool and I'm into inking now
You bought just what you need to do some fun watercolour resist! You can draw a picture with your soufflé pens and they will act as a resist. Then take your tombow pen and scribble on a piece of plastic packaging, dip a wet brush into it and you have watercolour that you can wash over your soufflé drawing. Just wipe off any ink that might stick to the soufflé design with a damp paper towel or baby wipe.
Girl yes!!!! There is the whole planner community that does pen hauls and I think so many of us "suffer" from pen addiction ; ) there is Tokyo Pen Shop which sells amazing pens with various tip sizes and the is also Jet Pens that sell tons of colored pens and various pen tips. It's love and you can fill your cart so quickly! :)
The Sakura Gelly Roll pens are amazing! They don't bleed through recycled paper at all! I also have purchased a Micro Pen by Sakura (size .005). Because the size is so small, it doesn't bleed. I still haven't written anything in my journal, but I will start soon!
You'll have so much fun with the tombows. Fun tip. Since they're water based you can use a regular paint brush and water or a waterbursh ( a brush that has a chamber for water in the handle) and move the pigment around. They're really cool. Enjoy all your new goodies. :) ps Sakura make a TON of different jelly pens and just art pens. I think they have a metallic water color set too. Now I have to go look. :)
Jennifer, I just absolutely love your videos!! I have had a book and pen obsession since I was very young. Now that I found you I have also been making my own books ... absolutely fabulous ! And my husband is the biggest cheerleader for my new hobby. He even funds everything. So excited! * Please keep up the awesome work you do ... luv ya!
I love pens too! I've recently gotten is big batch from Jetpens to try out new options for black lineart. I got several pens from the Neopiko line 3 (love them! They even have a 0.03, smallest tip I've ever seen and it's really handy for little details!) and some fine brush pens like the Zebra and the Kuretake. I also got a lineart brush and some new nibs for my nib holder. I haven't been so excited in a long time, this is my kind of shopping hahaha
I love the haul videos where you show how they look/write and tell us how they feel on the paper etc. Being that I have no choice but to order materials like these online, it helps me to "test-drive" the pens vicariously through you, lol.
Oh I'm not the only one who obsessed with pens! That Sakura Gelly roll is just.... God blessed their company. I have a lot of them too, I recommend gelly roll moonlight edition! It is really bright and I like how they goes matte when they dry. Check it out!
Great colored gel pens! They never seem to dry out! When they run out of ink or break. I throw them in the recycling bin as is:) I recycle all of my plastic and metal writing instruments, plastic silverware, and my mechanical pencils:) The recycling sorting grinds up them up and magnetically separates the plastic from the metal parts and tips to melt down again to be recycled into something new:) It keeps plastic out of our landfills and oceans. It's better for the environment:)
The Sharpie pens are rough to start with, but after using them for a while the tip become more soft and a little more fluid. You still have to press kind of hard, but it's not that bad and glide feels good :)
OMG ! I didn't think about using a blank 30 day calendar for doodle challenges. I've been making notebooks outta scrap paper to keep but with these monthly doodle challenges. Try using the uniball micro pen. I like them better than microns.
In my experience with the sharpie pens, the color lays on better if you use the very very tip instead of tilting it to the side. the scratchyness stays, though because of the way the tip is made.
Idk if you have these where you live, but I really love the Signo pens. They come in metallic, reglular, pastel and white and they are so opaque. I think you would really like them
So, not that you care, but here's what I use when I doodle a lot: Pilot Juice Gel Pens. They're pretty fine and the ink is translucent- ESPECIALLY the white. Comes in a ton of colors. I actually use them on top art markers. Spectrum Noir art markers. They're the poor man's Copics. I have all 168 of them and I'm actually very satisfied, aside from the fact they dont COME WITH a brush tip (and it costs about $200 to replace all tips with brush). ZEBRA Dual Tip Mildliner - They're basically highlighters in muted colors. They're an absolute joy to work with and come with a very nice range of colors. Pilot Coleto MultiPen - Doesn't come in yellow, but are an absolute joy to draw and write with. I believe they are the same pens as the Hi-Tec-C pens.
I love the Gelly Roll pens and Sharpie Markers! I've been looking for a white Pen for forever! I was so surprised that we both picked the same white pen!
I guess we all have our "thing" that we enjoy. Me. I like hardware stores. I DIY a lot ofprojects around my home. One of the things I like is huge washers and nuts and thingslike that. They look so cool.
I also love Tombo. You should try Prismacolor markers, they are wonderful! Fair warning-- they do bleed through like Sharpie but the colors are gorgeous!
Just so you know the soufflé pens are a special edition and on a thicker paper they actually are made to puff up on the paper and make a 3D effect! Try it out!
You r feeding my addiction. Or at least activating it to shop : ) There are so many and so many paper textures that do well or poorly with different pens. Most people that buy paper planner or journals do a pen test at the back (or front) of their books to see what works well and what does not. Those Jelly Roll pens are calling my name. : )
more art supply hauls please!!!! i would really like more advice on watercolors( im new to your page so ill have to check your old videos to see if ya got any! so excited to find your page!!!
Try micron pens in place of the sharpie pens. :) minimal bleeding and less scratchy. They're a bit pricey but well worth it, I tried many other pens before micron, but nothing really compares.
the tombow dualtip markers look so great and i've heard so many good things about them! especially the brush bc i love cursive handlettering but sadly they don't sell them here where i live, i can't find it anywhere ugh
I love hauls...and love pens but low budget so did go to my Japanese store, tried quite a few...uniballs, microns and ended up loving the price and the flow of a $2 by Zebra, called Surari and I got the .7 tip. most other pens were 8 to 10 and up.
I love pens! I just recently bought a ton of the Gelly Pens and now I want EVERY COLOR!! I use them when I paper craft and make cards. I was at Dick Blick and they had all the Tombow markers and I don't know what happened but I DID NOT BUY ANY!!! Grrr!! Hahaha I'd love to see how you use your Gellys and Tombows, I'm always looking for new inspiration. :)
I felt the exact same way about the Sharpie Pens! Very scratchy and pretty inconsistent color and ink flow. I thought the sea foam green one was dried out at first...then I realized that's just how it is 😑 Loved this haul 🙋🏼
The "Sakura 58176 10-Piece Gelly Roll Blister Card Moonlight 06 Fine Point Gel Ink Pen Set, Assorted Colors" pens have a yellow and brighter colours if that's what you're looking for. I suggest you take a look at the picture on amazon
Tip on brush lettering- 1. Apply pressure on your down strokes 2. When doing any other stroke try achieving a "hairline" and apply really minimal pressure 3. Go S L O W 4. Practice! It's hard to start so you just gotta get used to it. Hope that helps! 😋
Hi Jennifer!!!! Awesome video, I feel you about "haul", I have addiction to pens, memo pads, stickers and art supplies and calligraphy, is very hard. But your reviews of the pens are awesome! Very specific, and about the Sharpies Markers it bleed as you said, never tried the Pens tho. I love the Crayola Super Tips are awesome, but it bleed a little in the back. You need to try Coptic, they are like Tombow (in Calligraphy world, they use it a lot), is for painting as a watercolor, they are soft color. Also the Steadler Fibre Tip are good, is smoother than the Sharpie Pen, I like it a lot, but bleed in the back of the paper. Oh those Sakura Gelly Pens are very excelent! for the white one, I used to buy the ones from Target dollars, they are good for that price. But the Sakura's one are the best! Oh if you like pens, try the Pentel Slicci, the awesome of them is that the color is very intense, and they have a very different size of nib! they are VERY awesome, you should try it!!! I love them a lot! and it does not run out of ink quickly as the Sakuras Gel Pens.
I find that I don't like the Gelly Roll Pens in my Coloring Books. For some reason, the Glitter and Metallic especially pool up and leave breaks in my colors after they dry and I have to go over my coloring again. I like the Amaza Pens so much more
Craft Hauls are way better than fashion haul.
YES!
Ikr
true =D
Definitely!
yep
Hey you. Yes you.

Same Jennifer! I spend my money on craft supplies instead clothes!
I am a pen addict. You have to check out Jet Pens. It is sort of my crack den.
I thought it was just me...Amazon got me hooked on Jinhao fountain pens - dirt cheap, write like a dream, beautiful to handle.
gel pens are my poison
Over here in the UK it's Cult Pens. I could look back into my account to see how much money I have spent on pens over the last few months but I daren't..although being addicted to pens is way better than crack..I think. Haha!
Jane Metcalfe That's my mantra: "At least I'm not smoking crack!"
+Aynge Mackay my addictions are lip stuff. at least we're not smoking crack 😂
I feel so silly...I used to have so many of those gelly roll pens when I was a teen, but got rid of them as I got older thinking I had "grown out of them". Wish I had held on to them...
Devin Nicole Luu me too!
Same....
i very love to use the tombow dual brush pen , and now i'am using it for caligraphy and bullet journal

i looove art supplies hauls because just imagining that i own these things is just so wonderful.. until the video ends 😂😂😭💔
ikr
Same! I live in India and I'm very interested in artsy things but these pens are not available here. 😕 That's one reason I envy her.
+Jas Bhamra try paytm and search for Sakura.. You get micron fine liners, gelly roll pens and other stuff.. Its not like you don't get stuff in India.. 😊
+Akanksha Agrawal me too ,i live in india!
+Akanksha Agrawal oh okay! I will surely take a look :) thanks.
This is my aesthetic. Office/art supplies
I got a pack of new gelly roll pens, and they work so well! The color just bursts out of the pen, and it's so smooth. Although you have to wait for the ink to dry for maybe a minute(if you color with them in your sketchbook).
Oh man I ...LOVE the Sakura Metallics !
nooooo I'm supposed to be sleeping but yeeesssss a new video!

*deal with the dust (if there's any)
+Akanksha Agrawal it's hard to avoid it! I keep a swiffer duster handy ;)
SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! Go ahead and do more hauls. I like hauls it's where I come to learn of new products/reviews before I spend. Thanks for sharing!
Who knew there was so much variety in Pens! Thanks for sharing Jen.
Girl yes!!!! The Tombow markers are wonderful to use as watercolors too!
Sharpie pens=😍. Sakura pens also = 😍. Who needs drugs when you have art? LOL
this is a year old but you can sniff sharpies to be pen drugged lol
have you heard of jetpens? they have awesome brush pens, dip pens, all types of pens as well as stationary.
while I enjoy the sakura jellies, I've found the best white opaque cover is from a Signo uniball pen
The Sakura Gelly Roll pens are amazing! They don't bleed through recycled paper at all! I also have purchased a Micro Pen by Sakura (size .005). Because the size is so small, it doesn't bleed. I still haven't written anything in my journal, but I will start soon!

I love supplies hauls, pens, markers, paper and anything crafty
Loved the video! The one neon florescent yellow is so bright it hurt my eyes. I can't even imagine working with it!
I love the gelly roll pens. I used them in Jr high and have since had a hard time finding them.
I love pens too! I've recently gotten is big batch from Jetpens to try out new options for black lineart. I got several pens from the Neopiko line 3 (love them! I adore the sharpie pens for daily writing!
I'm sad when ppl make a haul videos. I want to buy everything in the vid
And I can't get them
+SketchAkabane Yao yess
Very informative, I hear a ton about the Posca pens. I paint rocks & hide them with my grands. A lot of rock painters use those. 😀
Oh I'm not the only one who obsessed with pens!
That Sakura Gelly roll is just.... God blessed their company.
I have a lot of them too, I recommend gelly roll moonlight edition! It is really bright and I like how they goes matte when they dry. Check it out!
With the Sakura Soufflé pens you can write on plastic (acrylic) and glass too.
Micron Pens are great! They have a bunch of colors that work really well and glide nicely on paper
If you like the windsor Newton you might like the Prisma Color. I have a really nice set of them and they are wonderful!
I need to get a few more jelly rolls. I have a black and white and really like them. The brush pens are something I'd like to get too.
I'd recommend the derwent graphik line painter pens, they're really good quality for doodling and they flow really nicely xx
For christmas I got the pastel and original tombow markers and a few I chose I love them so much that I went back to buy more!!
I love th sharpie pens for notes at school..I live hi w they don't smudge and dry fast and it's bold
The Sharpie pens are rough to start with, but after using them for a while the tip become more soft and a little more fluid. You still have to press kind of hard, but it's not that bad and glide feels good :)
Never too many pens, markers, ink, paint.... :). The Sakura Star Dust pen is also worth buying, very sparkly & it's a Gelli too.
OMG ! I didn't think about using a blank 30 day calendar for doodle challenges. I've been making notebooks outta scrap paper to keep but with these monthly doodle challenges. Try using the uniball micro pen. I like them better than microns.
i too have a pretty good collection along with gelly roll. Do try "Uniball Eye" for fine writing and super amazing shades.
In my experience with the sharpie pens, the color lays on better if you use the very very tip instead of tilting it to the side. the scratchyness stays, though because of the way the tip is made.
I love the Sharpie pen for writing (rather than drawing) in my bullet journal.
Idk if you have these where you live, but I really love the Signo pens. They come in metallic, reglular, pastel and white and they are so opaque. I think you would really like them
So, not that you care, but here's what I use when I doodle a lot:
Pilot Juice Gel Pens.
Micron pens are great, lately I am addicted to drawing with India ink and a brush. I really enjoy art supply hauls.
i can't even comprehend how good you are at drawing! love your channel x
p.s. these pens look amazing!
I want all of them ecxept for the sharpie one.
Tombow is the single favorite sketch-pen brand!! Neeed to check out the sakura ones ASAP! Thanks for an awesome review!
I love my G2 white pen. It's not as opaque as your white pen but it really helps clean up any blurs and highlight my art.
Tip for the sharpie pens! If you hold them perpendicular to the page or project you're working on, they are less scratchy and give more ink/color.
I love the Gelly Roll pens and Sharpie Markers! I've been looking for a white Pen for forever! I was so surprised that we both picked the same white pen!
You should try prismacolor or comic alcohol based markers! They're amazing and blend easily
Copic*
I guess we all have our "thing" that we enjoy. Me. I like hardware stores. I DIY a lot ofprojects around my home. One of the things I like is huge washers and nuts and thingslike that. They look so cool.
Your art store is a million times better than mine, it's like the art supplies are non existent
I also love Tombo. You should try Prismacolor markers, they are wonderful! Fair warning-- they do bleed through like Sharpie but the colors are gorgeous!
I always do stationary and art hauls. They're the best! I love watching them! Your video editing is so amazing! I wish I could edit like that!
OMG YESSSS DO MORE PLEASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
Just so you know the soufflé pens are a special edition and on a thicker paper they actually are made to puff up on the paper and make a 3D effect! Try it out!
the papermate gel pens are awesome
I enjoy all of your videos. And YES I love art & craft haul videos. Vicarious retail therapy. I love all of those pens! Haven't tried the W&N's yet
Loved it! You draw & doodle beautifully!
Nice haul I love Tombow pens I have to sets. The blend very good
you should try inkjoy gel pens!! they are very easy to write with and bright and they dont bleed!
Hi! I like your videos so much because it contains a lot of tips and information that can help a lot of people.
@sealemon where do you go shopping I can never find the pens you have?
I love hauls...and love pens but low budget so did go to my Japanese store, tried quite a few...uniballs, microns and ended up loving the price and the flow of a $2 by Zebra, called Surari and I got the .7 tip. most other pens were 8 to 10 and up.
For the Sharpie pens, you need to draw with the pen straight. It has to be completly vertical and then it works really well ^^
pilot gel pens are really good too
have you ever tried the staedtler triplus fineliners? they're some of my favorite pens
I thought the sea foam green one was dried out at first...then I realized that's just how it is 😑
Loved this haul 🙋🏼
The "Sakura 58176 10-Piece Gelly Roll Blister Card Moonlight 06 Fine Point Gel Ink Pen Set, Assorted Colors" pens have a yellow and brighter colours if that's what you're looking for. I suggest you take a look at the picture on amazon
So glad I am not the only one not in love with Sharpies!
Tip on brush lettering-
1. Apply pressure on your down strokes
2. When doing any other stroke try achieving a "hairline" and apply really minimal pressure
3. Go S L O W
4. Practice! It's hard to start so you just gotta get used to it.
Hope that helps! 😋
Yes to hauls and welcome to the world of many, many pens! :D
white gelly roll.was my first gelly roll pen toooo!!!
You should get the bronze metallic gelly role. It's an awesome color! Love the video! ❤
I want the classic Sakura golly rolls set so bad
I love art supplies
for sharpie pen u can use artline pens
Hahaha these jelly roll pens are takin me back to my elementary school days!
You always do such a great job with B-roll/cutaway shots! Informative vid, as usual. :)
I went to Cali and one store I want to there was buches of sekar a and belly roll pens and I got some. Literally there was hundreds of each color
I find that I don't like the Gelly Roll Pens in my Coloring Books. For some reason, the Glitter and Metallic especially pool up and leave breaks in my colors after they dry and I have to go over my coloring again. I like the Amaza Pens so much more
You should try Sakura Aqualip! They are great, i usually use it for nail art. But it can be used on plastic and glass too 😊😆
