I love how there are three separate comments here commenting on how the real Paddy Mayne was taller than the actor, each one claiming he was actually another inch taller than the last guy did. Next person who comments on it is going to claim he was 20’ tall!
Absolutely love how Paddy's storytelling brings the whole scene to life! It's amazing how a good tale can set the tone for everything that follows. Can't wait to see how it unfolds!
Nothing gets in the way of a good tale | SAS Rogue Heroes - B B C 1208pm 7.1.25 Personally, speaking, i like a good ol' percy toplis eff you you stinkin' top brass half wit kindda tale. the guy toplis - much maligned and denigrated. i think they should do a decent film of that guy and give him the credit he is due.
Jack O'Connell is one of my favourite actors so many actors from 'This Is England' are just next level. Maybe Shane Meadows has a lot to answer for spotting young talent x
Paddy was a legend .. i think Steven Knight has done a great job . I read Paddy mayne's biography about 10 years ago and thought why has this not been turned into a film or series.. well now it has and I'm over the moon . Great job .. Paddy was the ultimate hero and snubbed the top brass Ruperts. His men worshipped him .. legend !!!!
Loved this second series. Jack O'Connell stole the show as usual! Suited me fine that the posh one was locked up throughout the whole series. I love to see these working class lads in action! Not these posh to$$pots
That's a somewhat revised version of the tale of Fionn Mac Cumhaill, the Irish hero. Finnegas, aka Finn Eces was a bard, to whom Fionn came to study, as was required of the Fianna warriors. Fionn wasn't exactly low born and neither was Paddy Mayne, who was the son of landed gentry and who was university educated and practiced law, before the war, as well as played rugby. Not everything in this is the exact truth, especially Paddy Mayne being a lower class hardcase, sticking it to the upper classes.
I am thoroughly enjoying the Rogue Hero's!! Brilliant cast, amazing dialogue, impeccable music ('70's girl here, love the hard rock), and handsome wiley men - and one gorgeous woman😂❤!!
How can they have a guy 5'7" playing the part of a guy 6'4" 17 1/2 stone heavy weight boxer ,rugby northern Ireland british lions, absalout fearless said even today by SAS bravest man never to recieve a Victoria cross he did not fit in with the bigger ups , reminds me of admiral Thomas Cochran should of been the greatest sailor to leave these shores inc Nelson and Drake the coward and liar blacked his name would not of been a French navy only for gambias cowardice, if you read any hornblower or captain and commander they were Cochrane also first commando ,
He was recommended for the VC by Monty, so some of the bigger ups were fine more likely the middle management. Oddly the French did award them highest honour.
Mayne was nothing like this in real life. For starters , he was 6ft 3, 250 pounds and didn't speak like someone trying to do an Ian Paisley impersonation. He was from an upper middle class family from Newtownards.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight , it's about the size of the fight in the dog , and artistic licence which all of these ww2 films or series do and yes even band of brothers
No harm to anybody but I couldn't watch the second series his accent put me right off it was brutal he didn't murder the accent in the first series as bad as he did in the second absolutely awful.
series 1 was Ok but series 2 is mostly utter bollocks with the unlikeable Mayne/main characters, stereotypical knights cross wearing ze Germans, unbelievable unnecessary subplots and shoehorned box ticking DEI bullpucky
Usually the DEI stuff annoys me more but I didn’t see too much of it in the series (in comparison to what you usually see these days) - what stuff annoyed you?

It would be awesome to see someone make a movie about Paddy Mayne operating in the future with modern day SAS operators . Paddy Mayne - Legend

'And that's why babies suck their thumbs and poor people have all the answers', lol. Having grown up with that story, I never heard it put like that.
Hahaha hardly the bedtime we were told, but stories fit purpose. Very good in all fairness
i love this series so much! Binged watched in one day. Please confirm series 3 asap
S3...yes, please!
Paddy Mayne speaks in poetry.

I love everything about this series including the music. And I'm 72.
See All the episode by now and I loved it
I love how different this all was. The BBC gets a lot of flack but this was superb.

Paddy mayne was definitely not working class,he had more in common with the Stirling brothers who were also very well to do.
@@jimduffy1967 Oh God that's ruined it for me! Why didn't they cast him as a toff in the show?
@@zs8175 Maybe you should judge a man by his character not his station in life.
@@zs8175 Nah, he still had the "Norn Iron" accent so that's fine.

Yes paddy was definitely not lowly born,he came from a very well to do background, not at all like he is portrayed here, but still an excellent series.
There is no reason to let the truth get in the way of a well told Tale, even Foinn may agree with that.!
I distinctly remember Paddy warning not to annoy Reg. What happened to that advice?
It's still there.....when I watched a couple of days ago.
second season in europe was excellent man 😎😎
"Hondootedly"
Anybody know where this is filmed?
Croatia, Istria region
Never forget, war.

Right up there with Band of Brothers
I don't think so 😂

Have you never watched the Reacher movies with Tom Cruise…….
shocking he was ROBBED of the VC.
He was recommended for the VC by Monty, so some of the bigger ups were fine more likely the middle management. Oddly the French did award them highest honour.
Why didn’t they go the whole hog and do Sterling as a Georgie or a Scouse maybe?
Stirling.
Did they really have RPGs in 1943, they did have bazookas, but the weapons paddy fired looked like RPGs.🤔
Those were bazookas

Yeah, it's a crap accent. It's really grating!

OT!!
Benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python by two TV stations--WOR and WLVI!
Why is a short bloke playing a 6’2” legend..?
size matters very little

Terrible portrayal of Paddy Mayne. That accent as well. It's atrocious!
100 percent I thought his acting in the second series was way off.
