    Pebble has it right. All it is missing is a voice assistant and it would be the perfect smartwatch.

    • @RoseDillinger90
      @RoseDillinger90 10 років тому +2

      Exactly. If the Martian smartwatches can pull it off, I don't see why the Pebble team can't make it happen. I'd happily buy it if it was connected to Google Now... And maybe throw in a heart rate monitor to use with its fitness apps :) keep the ePaper display though.

      Bad Apple Productions I agree however I'd like to see some implementation of color, perhaps only primary or such.

    • @benbauer7866
      @benbauer7866 10 років тому +1

      I don't see a point cause you can't watch videos or anything on a smartwatch anyway. It would look prettier with color, though.

    • @robertyoushock
      @robertyoushock 10 років тому

      True but imagine the possibilities color would provide and make pebble a master watch

    • @RoseDillinger90
      @RoseDillinger90 10 років тому

      Robert Youshock I like the option of color too. However, I don't mind the black and white screen as I find it retro like the Gameboy. Though, changing from black and white to color in the settings for the next Gen Pebble would be nice :) especially with possible app compatibility issues

    I personally own a pebble and I love it. I like the look of other smart watches but at the time I'm having to deal with classes and a minimum wage job and on the pebble I can just set it to a normal looking watch face, put it in sleep mode, and nobody notices it isn't just a normal watch. I don't have teachers thinking I'm cheating or a manager thinking I'm texting on the job.

    There is nothing missing on the Pebble price and value is awesome. Battery life is a must for a smart watch. Don't want more to charge at night

  • @tonydavis202
    @tonydavis202 10 років тому +4

    Why compare the 1st gen Pebble with the week old Android wear devices? When you put an G Watch or Gear Live next to a Pebble Gen 1, it makes Pebble look crappy.

    • @Pocketnow

    • @tonydavis202
      @tonydavis202 10 років тому +2

      Pocketnow No. You use old footage of the Steel and thats why its not in the comparison shots. Side by side you ONLY used the Android Wear devices w/ the 1st gen Pebble

    This is the comparison I've been waiting for since Android Wear became available to the general public. For the time being, I'm going for the Pebble, which I intend to purchase in a week or two.

  • @zone07
    @zone07 10 років тому +3

    Yeah, no matter how you slice it Pebble is done. 7 days on a single charge? Did you get an extended battery on that thing? The fact that it works with iPhone may still keep it alive until the release of iWatch.

    • @Cholitowoof
      @Cholitowoof 10 років тому +5

      7 days on a single charge is normal with pebble, no extra battery(i hope that you're being sarcastic with this)

      They are definitely not done yet, they have an opportunity to fight the coming storm. If they can release a new and better iteration before Android Wear gets it's "sea legs" as michael puts it, then they can stay in the game for a lot longer than you would think.

    0:50 There you have it, the biggest factor to get the pebble. E-paper technology is the way to go. Long battery life and you still get notifications from your watch.
    Just like going for e-book over any tablet device if you're getting a device to read the whole day. E-Ink technology, long lasting battery life and most importantly delivers what you want..

  • @ChillyPeppers

    Being able to easily see its screen, and the fact that it lasts up to days on a single charge, is why the Pebble stills wins for me.

    I'm told the Pebble is the better bet for BlackBerry owners and I noticed the Crackberry website in your video. I lean towards the Samsang watches for bike riding with its heart rate monitor/ health suite. Is the Samsung too temperamental for that? Does the Pebble have access to fitness software?

    It's something you have to wear on your wrist, so for me the design is very important. I'd like to buy the gear fit (love the curved display) but I'm waiting for the moto 360. Remember, it's a (smart)watch, it has to be stylish ;)

    I love my Pebble. It's discrete, waterproof, battery last a long time and does exactly as advertised. Maybe its me, but I rather have plain and simple over fancy and "the the heck?" No disrespect to other smart watches out there, just my opinion is all.

    I feel as if the pebble is very simple with almost a weeks Worth of power. But still I do not like how it can only be used as a watch ,like he showed us a stopwatch, or a watch that you can read your messages from which I do like but not that simple.

    I bought the original pebble and honestly it was the biggest fuckin mistake. The damn thing can't maintain a solid BT connection, and the (Android) pebble app literally is the most broken app I've ever downloaded. It literally crashes about 75% of the time. Can't wait till the moto 360 comes out so I can get rid of this "smart" watch.

      @MrIrapandgame 10 років тому +4

      android wear is better and i dont mean that as a fanboy or anything i mean that from an objective stand point you see sonys sw2 has many glitches a not so user friendly experience and it has a poor screen to be honest from what ive seen so far the samsung gear live (android wear samsung device) is the best the g watch has some visibility issues outside that the gear live does not with the amoled display which is nice if youre outside and the device is slimmer which is why it is better in most peoples eyes the g watch has a bigger battery then the gear live and is there fatter on the rest fatter then the original pebble in fact so i think its between those devices i can say a 4 day battery on the pebble is great as is the 5atm water resistance but if you want android wear or sony sw2 go android wear

      @arfived4 10 років тому

      Yup.
      When you consider what else you can buy in the smartwatch price range, why would you settle for some ugly plastic crap from a white goods manufacturer whose "smart" capabilities amount to not having to take your phone out of your pocket as often, something that nobody has ever complained about?

    • @thepeddle
      @thepeddle 10 років тому +3

      arfived4 well you gotta look at the big picture not just keeping your phone in your pocket. I and a bunch of my buddies ride Enduro dirt bikes, so our phones are locked and sealed tightly in our back packs away from dust and water. So taking them out is a MAJOR hassle. So having pregnant wives or other important stuff that you might need a notification for, a smartwatch would come in pretty handy. So you should consider there's plenty of reasons to own a smart watch. The whole world aren't just going to school or riding on the subway where taking your phone out isn't a hassle. And to answer your question YES a lot of people complain about taking their phones out in certain situations.

    • @arfived4
      @arfived4 10 років тому

      ThePeddle I can see how these could be useful for cyclists and joggers, but I doubt that they will become a compelling purchase outside of certain niche markets, as opposed to spreading to everyday use, so, to that end, they are only relevant to the "small picture", rather than the "big picture".
      Secondly, any watch aside from a cheap one is usually also used an accessory, purchased for aesthetics. Aside from the Moto 360, these devices all look cheap when compared to conventional watches in their price range.
      With more functionality, better design, and the ability to, in part, replace your smartphone, then, yeah, I can see these working, but the current generation are near-pointless.

    This is just my opinion, but there's just no comparison. The display is obviously the most important thing to me, and the pebble is not only rectangular, it's not even color!!! Monochrome? What is this the year 2000? lol
    I know this isn't a comparison of hardware, per se, but it's worth noting...if compared to the Moto 360, pebble is simply dead in the water. I'll pass and wait for the Moto 360.
