I can't help but imagine that bad writing/storytelling deep down must be pretty unsatisfying for the very people doing it, too... Which makes it all even worse: Why would you hold on to a practice that doesn't provide good service or value for nobody involved?
    Excellent video once more.

So true. When someone does this on YT, I tend to never watch again. Another fascinating vid pointing out things you instinctively feel, but maybe, have not consciously considered. All with a great sense of humor. A good lesson. Thank you. Best wishes.

I’m guilty of capturing viewers on my other UA-cam channel and I realized what I was doing a few months ago, so I now make a conscious effort to not do it and I try to get right to the point in the first 15 seconds. Especially if it is a “how to” video.

I get your point, and it’s certainly true that this type of writing can be a nuisance, but I also think that, when used in a literary text, it can be very valuable. Look at In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust, for example: it’s roughly 4000 pages long, composed of incredibly (amd unnecessarily) long sentences and Proust often spends pages describing a seemingly boring scene. Despite this, I’d argue that he is one of the best authors of the 20th century.

I have his series and haven’t yet read it. It’s a rule of thumb; most people are not Proust and it would improve our writing tremendously if we don’t behave like him. Although one can argue that even Proust provides value: his mastery means he can make the boring functional.

idk i feel there are just boring stories not bad ones. it is a skill to get some1 to pay attention mainly in the digital age. It sucks when big story tellers you trust let you down with red herring and subverted expectations that not pay off they way they may have hoped.
The Sopranos ending for one. your HBO film something! so yeah it is super frustrating, i have been held hostage by the One-piece Manga for 20 years....

@@onepenshow Don't worry, my friend, you are forgiven. Parker Jotters do have their uses. I use one to mark punctures on my inner tube when I repair a puncture on my Bicycle. I also keep one by my bedside when I want to write something down in the middle of the night. I would not want to get Fountain Pen ink on the bedsheets. They are click pens so you do not have to uncap and post them all the time. I have several, but I will not be buying them anymore.
