I live in NY, unfortunately, Home Depot and Lowe's hasn't had any Hoya's the entire year! I'm not sure what's going on. I've resorted to buying my Hoya's from Etsy!🤷🏽♀
OMG We're nearly neighbours lol. I'm in Kingston (not really close). I didn't realize you were in Canada! I was even more shocked when you said Ontario :) Anyways, hello from a fellow houseplant 'collector'
@@luciansteph haha Rona and Home Depot here don't have nearly as big of a selection as you but I plan to go this week to see if they've restocked. Canadian Tire has a Ring of Fire hybrid called Golden Girl that I've been keeping an eye on lol
@jennifermckenzie2968 interesting. It’s the opposite for me. CT has no houseplants. Rona’s selection is sometimes a little tired. Hope you find some at your HD. Keep me posted please 😊
@@luciansteph The only reason Can Tire has them is because I work there and talked the ordering manager into getting some lolol. I'll def keep you posted!
Stephanie, don't be afraid to get the Hoya Compacta as it's my very first one in my collection and saw it first with flowers when I went to Allan Gardens in Toronto but has no ID...it has the most unusual foliage of all the hoyas....never mind the variegated ones or splashy ones...start with 2 or 3 cheaper cuttings in a pot, so you know you will grow it without any bugs....but if course you can wash it thoroughly when you change the medium and isolate it from the rest of your plants...because sometimes I think the mealy bugs are in the soil...but I found that if they are young plants or just cuttings, they're mostly very clean without any infestation...and of course we plant parents like to see how we grow our plants from tiny to big ones....my Compacta grew from 2" cuttings to 23 inches tall in bamboo sticks within 13 months and flowered! It's in a west facing window sill, very hot in summer and very cold during winter in Toronto and I have not moved it away from that same spot and they have acclimatized...I bought more baby compactas and they grow so fast, this time I bought tall skinny planters so it can trail down....but I know it will not flower quickly as we know that if you trellis them, they grow faster, and will bloom quicker....that's why trailing ones bloom slower in general...I now have 23 hoyas but my fave is still the Compacta, it's easy going, keeps the moisture longer as it has thicker fleshy leaves, not like the small thin leaf hoyas, i find finicky, doesn't like very sunny spot, doesn't like to be watered well but like little moisture from misters but you need to do it every 2 days who has all that time? Plants are not just the only thing we like to do😂
I will accept this as the official petition for me to get a compacta. 🤣You’ve offered some great tips. Thank you. Why do you not suggest the variegated ones? Are they significantly more difficult?
What's your Home Depot's houseplant section like?

Yeah? Wonder how it tastes 😅
what is the difference between a crimson queen and a tricolor Hoya?
None that I know of or can see on the plants.I have read that nurseries just decided to start naming them that. 🤷🏽♀️
Pls tell us which branch of Home Depot you are....not all of them are created equal
Check the description! 😉
Why are they all in cages?🤷♀️
Theft is an issue ☹️
