Wow 😳 coming from someone who has owned 3 101b heads, a classic head and now a XTC 20th head Synergy and Bogner has nailed it.
yeah my thoughts exactly
Nice to hear these modules demonstrated with standard tuning. That's where I live. Even if I drop everything a half step sometimes, I still use the traditional tuning. So many of the heavier amp videos have the extra drop on the E string and that fattens up any amp sound so it doesn't provide the best example of how the amp really sounds without the assist and many of those players never really stray too far from the 2 low strings so that makes video evaluation even harder. All of the Shawn Tubbs videos are really well done.
A Bogner Ecstasy and Shawn Tubbs. Now that’s my idea of killer combination!
My god, man, that sounds INCREDIBLE!!!!
Thanks Ben! This module is one of my favorites!
the cleanish tone /edge tone is pretty wonderful
That sounds chewy as fuck with the strat. Love it
I was sold on Friedman Deluxe 50 three channel amp, now I'm having second thoughts!!! This is not fair! You make everything sound awesome!!!
Thanks! I love my 100 DLX. Doesn't the 50 have a different clean channel?
@@ShawnTubbs Yes, it has the sought out "Buxom Betty" clean channel. It's a pretty versatile rock amp with that Buxom Betty clean channel. You get HBE, BE and the Buxom clean. Only thing missing is the Vox and dumble tone!
Inside Out I’m still hoping to get a Buxom Betty combo amp one of these days.
Inside Out I’m still sold on my smallbox limited but would’ve preferred this if it was out at the time. Smaller to send for repairs. But it is the best amp I’ve ever owned, heard or felt.
...and two ....glad to see that my invitation has encountered your favour 👍🎸🎸🎸
....my last question mark ...the Fryette 😁
It seems very versatile. Great demo!
Awesome 👏 playing! Great piece of gear!
I finally made the jump and grabbed a SYN-30 combo. The built in clean is almost worth the price of admission by itself. The cab simulated DI is AWESOME, fantastic for live gigging or silent practice / recording. I have the VAI module which is excellent, but looking to try this one. Sounds a little raspy / DI in this clip? Almost unnaturally crunchy? Maybe it's the cab/miking until around 3:52... that's the stuff!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Me wants!!! 👦🏻
Ok so we have the Covid-19 knocking at our door. Stuck inside? What a better way to spend it with Shawn and the new Bogner. So now I’m going to have to spend my “govt” check on a new Synergy module...👍
Awesome demo Shawn....nice licks...!!
Glenn Brand hmm 🤔 yea not anymore. It’s just too risky. Especially, being married. I had a hard enough time getting gear after I got married. Nobody warned me #gas would be an issue. After 9 yrs she’s used to it and I’m kindve done buying.
THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!!
I've been through the DS, Plexi and SLO modules. This one, for my tastes, is the bees knees.
Excellent job as usual, Shawn.
How would you rank this module, Shawn?
Thanks so much Rob! This module is at the top of my list along with the 800 and BBBE.
Sounds killer!
Fab Shawn, fab
Great demo as always. I’m thinking of getting rid of my Kemper and investing in Synergy
O really 👊🏾🤛🏾👌🏾
Great tones.
Shawn, sounds gorgeous - what a tone. The fact that YOU are playing it kinda helps...A LOT. Would love to a comparison of the SYN head with the Friedman modules vs. a BE100 Deluxe., or the full-fledged Ecstasy vs. this module.
Thanks, Shawn!
Hey Shawn.. I have a Dirty Shirley 40 combo that I LOVE.. Thinking of trying out the Synergy Syn1 and looking for your recommendation on which module. I want to run the amp's preamp for the classic rock, crunch tone as with the knobs pretty much around noon it is the perfect (to me) sound and feel. What I want is a "plexi clean" and a solo tone that takes up where the DS preamp stops. I can get awesome lead ones with boosts or ODs in front of the amp, especially playing live if I can get the master up to around 3 or so. The SLO module I think I would find too fizzy on the top end. The DS module doesn't have quite the gain on tap for that liquid, singing solo tone. I like the Ecstacy has it's own tone controls plus the switch options. What do you think? I have watched most of your Synergy videos.. and know you have and like the DS40. Appreciate it.
Yeah that DS 40 is such a good amp. I think (based on the parameters you've stated) that the Ecstacy would be a good choice.
Sounds awesome, I wonder why i sold my old Ecstasy back in the 90,s :-)
does one have to use the synergy module with the amps or can one use the module alone into instrument channel?
I want to hear this in a Syn 30 head or combo compared to the Bogner XTC 35. I wonder how close they will be? I have the Bogner Red Ecstacy pedal in a BOSS MS-3 Switcher with a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret and a Wampler SLOstortion, which is alternately a Solo boost when no overdrive/crunch is on. These are run through stereo fx in to a stereo tube preamp/ADA Microcab II and MosValve. I am torn about getting the SYN2 or the Syn 30 now. I was thinking first the Syn 1 to add channels, to my Mesa Nomad 100 which has 3 nice channels on it. I carve out some of the overpowering mids with an Empress Para EQ. I also changed V1 and V2 to 12AY7s to drop down the gain. I recently figured out how to properly setup my BOSS NS-2, which is more effectively working, if I add a Syn1 I will have to reconfigure the NS-2. The Syn -1 becomes the Master, but allows you to still get access to the other channels through the fx loop. I use a global eq on the Mesa Nomad 100. I am going to have to map that out. I might just rebuild my rack as a separate rig.
Sounds great, Shawn. This might be my favorite one yet. Its nice to compare apples to apples on these vids (starting with your fantastic playing). Still via the Dirty Shirley fx loop and into the Ox Box?
Thanks! Yes, I did the same signal path.
I dont know Bogner , its the first time i hear it , but the single coils sound already very fat like humbucker ,,, the sound to me is a Mashall turned in to a Mesa boogie a bit ,,extra dirty like the two of them stacked
hope you'll demo the Fryette Pitbull super lead soon,, i am very curios how it sounds from your videos to compare Shawn !*_*)
Yes Please!
Play half a note jiggle on the nobs, play a half a note jiggle on the nobs (be sure to do this in a sing songy voice)
You spelled nobs wrong, you spelled nobs wrong (sing that to yourself in a "sing-songy" voice.)
@@ShawnTubbs very slick haha and nice catch dare Shawn
Bogner mmmm
Awesome demo vids... I'm really at a loss which one to order, this one or Ubershall?...
This module Ecstasy feels a little bit bluesy and is suited for more blues, classic rock
rather than Ubershall which is more diving into metal and hair.
Thanks very much! The Ecstasy has less gain than the Ubershall for sure, but it has a lot of gain. I haven't played the Ubershall but I've got friends that are not at all metal players that love it.
I have to ask what exactly I hear. Is this the direct out of the syn 1 or the syn 1 into an Poweramp or even amp head?
Syn 1 into the FX return of a DS 40. Bogner 2x12 loaded with Cele V30's. Royer 121 / SM 57 mics.
@@ShawnTubbs I was afraid something like this would be the answer. Sound was definately great but last time I checked my bank account it said you can go for this module.... a DS40 not so much!
They didn't send you a Bogner Ubershall module? Trying to find out which is the higher gain module.
Yeah they didn't send me that one. Sorry.
Sounds so much like a cranked up Marshall..not sure what Bohner take on this modelling amp. Excellent review, as always Shawn🌟🌟🌟
I would like to hear a Magnatone Super 59 mk ii with Synergy Higaiin Marshall or Bogner Ecstacy modules through that amp. I wonder if anyone has tried that yet?
Sounds great. I haven't looked around enough to know. They have a Soldano module yet ?
I had a combo years ago, that's what I'd be interested in. Anyway like usual Shawn you kick serious azz.
Yes, a Soldano Module is out.
@@hawg427 Yeah something about Soldano amps that worked just right for my playing style. I should've never sold it. Been chasing that sound ever since. Lol
I'm gonna look around and see if you demoed that one. 😎👍
Found it
Shawn, what was the recording chain?
Syn 1 main out > Friedman DS 40 power section via the FX return > UA OX 4 X 12 .
GAS triggering
Was this with the AIR switch off and set to 100b? I’m curious how the 101b and AIR settings sound like but I haven’t seen any reviews where people open up the module and switch those settings. Probably since no other module has those two extra internal switches under the metal cover
I left everything as it came from the factory. Didn't know there were more switches under the cover.
Shawn Tubbs Okay thanks, that’s what I figured. I personally only learned about the extra switches after looking at the manual. Judging by Henning’s video it sounds like you guys got units before the manual was fully written or available so I really don’t blame anyone for missing switches that are hidden under the metal shroud.
@@JoeHeisler Yeah, the manual I had made no mention of those switches.
Just curious, do these modules have tubes?
Yep! There's 2 12 AX7 tubes in the modules and 1 12AX7 in the Syn Preamp.
Doesn’t really sound like a Bogner Ecstasy
Thanks for all you do. Not being a jerk, but I think this module sounds like crap.
Then check out Fluffs video.
Thanks for watching. Can you be more specific? Does it sound like "crap" to you based on not sounding like a Bogner Ecstasy to you or is it just not your cup of tea? I don't think you're being a jerk at all. Just interested in what you're not digging.
@@ShawnTubbs I don't know about any other listeners but I listen to all my music videos thru my Apollo Twin & a pair od Adam A7X near field monitors or at night I put my Sony WH1000X-M3 wireless headphones on. But if he's listening to videos on computer speakers and cheap headphones they just don't transfer the true sound over to the listener. Your videos are high quality and nobody can compensate for the youtube compression. LOL
@@hawg427 yep it's fooking rubbish
@@kellyjackson7889 I've got the Synergy 50W head and the Engl Savage module, the Friedman HBE & the Diesel VH4 mods and they are top notch :-). Order one and the mods you want & if it's not to your sound just return them.
Meh.. Country player repeats the same licks in every video. He's very good at what he does but he just doesn't do what Bogners are built to do honestly hard to listen to
Thanks for watching anyways.
Shawn Tubbs LoL you sir are a gentleman, even though your just a “country player”. Looool. Amazing as always Shawn
@@JohnPerryMusic Thanks so much! I've been called crazier things. ;)
@@ShawnTubbs class act.
