I recently visited Sixflags Great Adventure not too long ago with some friends, we heard a rumor that one of the problems they had with Flash: Vertical Velocity was that it would occasionally cut the power to Cyborg: Cyberspin & Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth. I thought it made sense since B&R: The Chiller had similar issues when it was still in operation.
Id go for magic mountain since along with CP its the best park in the new chain also look out for great America getting something big for their 50th in 2026
I think in my opinion Cedar Fair aka the new Six Flags is going to address this. If a new attraction is advertised for a specific year, they want it open that year. A milestone like Great Adventure’s 50th anniversary should have been planned better. The old Six Flags added Flash “at the last minute”. Kingda Ka was advertised as new for 2005 and it opened that year (a few months late though). El Toro was advertised for 2006 and it opened that year. Six Flags has dropped the ball in recent years.
Since the new people in charge now thanks to the merger it doesn’t make sense to open these coasters now. Six flags always opens their coasters late but these were also last minute additions which didn’t help either.
Aren’t you the guy that said great America is better than kings island island and cedar point 💀 bro, no they are not, cedar fair has done way better for six flags just look at the coasters at discovery kingdom, don’t know about you, but their maintenance is absolute garbage 💀💀 cedar fair is way better 💀💀💀💀
This is a business 101 move which is: Pause work so the coaster can open on the first day of the 2025 season (which lines up with Cedar Fairs model-who is now running the parks). This allows the parks to have a new attraction for 2025 and now neither parks need to worry about financing a new attraction and they can use those funds to start cleaning up those Six Flags parks to align with Cedar Fair parks. Also, they will now have the funds to dress up the area similar to what Cedar Fair did at Kings Dominion. I feel next August this new company will classify each park into a tier and I feel they will make Great Adventure their premium tier. Therefore, this will mean lots of investments for Great Adventure's infrastructure and landscaping.
2025 Capex decisions were made before the merger closed and be Selim. Last July he made his grand increased Capex pronouncement for 2024 and 2025 of 200 to 220M. If Cedar fair was making the decisions for 2025 Capex for SF legacy parks there wouldn't be coasters at a some of the parks that are getting them...ie...Magic Mountain and Great America. Neither of those parks need a coaster(I go to both on a yearly basis), their issues are all the other stuff, that CF parks does much better. Both parks have poor staffing, poor ops(5 minute dispatches at MM is the norm on most coasters) poor food service, poor food options, low capacity food locations which leads to long lines, obvious deferred maintenance that makes the parks look shabby in many areas. Not to mention the employees have a look of misery on their faces b/c they are set up to fail by poor logistics and often having to do the job for 2, This is likely the last dance for poor Capex decisions in 2025, unless Selim signed some 2026 deals that they can't alter.

The fact that SF even contracted for a a single train coaster at a park the size of GAdv shows again their poor planning, management and decisions making. The ride according to the POV has 1 min 30 seconds ride time, you take in load and unload time of 1min 40sec that's generous..You're getting 20 cycles per hour with 24 riders per cycle. That's 480/hr capacity. The notion it has 800 capacity is nonsensical. that would be 33 cycles per hour and ride and load/unload time combined of about 1:50. I heard the reason for Flash not opening is because of supplying power to the coaster. The electric company working on the project said they would need 3-4 months to build a power grid for Flash, which I guess was too long of a time for the park. So, the park officials almost decided to close Dark Knight and Justice League and use their power source to get Flash open, but I guess the Cedar Fair executives voted against it.
I approve the move.... allow me elaborate.... they have new management who don't do openings mid and late season so now they have at current time 4 new coasters (and counting) opening in the chain next year

Now it's Cedar Points move with TT2. I think it's inevitable that it's not opening up the remainder of this year and CP just needs to come to terms and just SAY SOMETHING. It feels like someone in the PR department needs to get the axe because of the lack of communication regarding TT2 because it has been way too long since any kind of real update has been given and it makes them look really bad. 😕
There’s a jolt at the end of the ride that is a clear manufacturing defect. It can be seen in on ride videos. It’s not uncomfortable but it’s definitely not supposed to be there.
I'm really curious what's gonna happen with the Six Flags Mexico tilt coaster. Track is on site but I don't think any real construction has started, and that's supposedly a similar situation to these 2.
I bought our Cedar Point family passes with the reason/promise of TT2 but no luck as of writing this. I understand about all the technical issues, etc, prototype of a prototype and all that. Iff it’s not going to open during the regular season, shouldn’t we get something for that? I know it technically opened but also closed shortly after. We haven’t rode it and haven’t visited because of this. I mean… yeah
I also wonder if Georgia Surfer being a water ride has anything to do with them deciding not to open it until next year. It doesn't look great on the park though, especially after the "Summer 2023" Kid Flash didn't open until November.
As a Great Adventure passholder, I say...eh. I wasn't terribly excited for Flash, and given the capacity issues, I figured I'd ride it during a passholder preview, and then just ignore it for a while.
I'm one of those people who got a pass assuming I'd get to ride flash. I go to college in Canada, and I'm probably not going to spend next summer at home in Pennsylvania, so I don't know if/when I'm going to be able to ride it.
Give it up on the turntable idea ... although it would certainly be nice, It's not going to happen (and I will gladly eat my hat if I am wrong about this).
The train has been onsite since May. I’ve seen the train crates with my OWN eyes. Most people commenting don’t know what they are talking about or the reasons for the delay. Just another reason to be outraged, make content and speculation. The coaster will be opening in 2025. It was a LAST MINUTE addition. The park did its best, old Six Flags corporate is the blame here. Time to move on. New corporate management in town, things will be changing and I’m along for the ride.
The turn table for flash isn’t out of the possibility since they have done nothing to the station I hope they open it for 2024 previews in the holiday park or something.
The thing is its not even technically a water ride- the water feature is just a bonus, it doesn't NEED it to operate, and supposedly the water won't even get you wet cause its shooting outwards from the track, not at the riders themselves.
surfer i buy the delay in stuff coming in. flash on the other hand has to be adding the turn table in. there is no way they are going to say 3-4 hour wait for a boomerang is good for business. either way i hopefully look forward to riding that beautiful ride in 2028.
No turntable is gonna be added for both coasters. This is not like Aquaman where it’s meant to have a turntable but SF got the one without it therefore cause it to get delayed 3 times
Rumor is that Six Flags great Adventure is having an issue powering the LSMs for Flash. It does not work with the park power supply and it needs to be wired to the main power grid of the city. Flash is close to the same spot as batman and robin the chiller in which they also had trouble powering. It could not be launched at the same time due to power issues. This makes the most sense. Great adventure does not care about flash only having one train. Medusa has been on 1 train all season. Medusas lift hill is about the same duration as Flash. Nitro still on 2. Jersey Devil who can run 4 trains is only on 2. This is just poor planning and lack of care. Hopefully Cedar Fair can take over this park and get rid of the people who let it Rot.
Very interesting points! I didn't even think about power supply- that definitely could be true. Its just sad though if power really is the reason for the delay because surely they didn't think about this earlier? Like if they've literally had this problem before did they not anticipate this being a potential issue again?
@@CoasterStudios yeah and that’s from a very reliable source that also knew about specifics about the b&m dive at great America well before it opened , so I’d definitely believe it.
It’s not a true water coaster though- the water is not mandatory for the ride to operate- it’s not an actual function like the water on a Mack water coaster or dive coaster that it doubles as a braking system. The water can be turned off here and it won’t affect anything.
In my heart of hearts, I hope the delay is for turn-tables.... in my experience it's just over budget and they're delaying to reduce forecasted financial impacts of increased cost...
SFOG get push back it would open up late September or October and its have the water feature on this ride. They want the ride have that on when its open. I go to the park alot and its not the first time a coaster get push back. Kid Flash was push back and till this is not running everyday
They didn’t even start on these coasters until after the season started it was not the merger this is what six flags does. Great America is getting a new coaster and there are no signs of it even being stated
Exactly. Cedar Fair starts building their major coasters early with the plan of them opening with the park or early season. SF has no plan to open things until July at best in almost all cases. Besides the 2 delayed coasters, they haven't even opened the pendulum at SFST or any of the stuff as SFFT(not remotely close to being done). Now, CF has issues too...ie...T2 got derailed by a engineering issue with the manufacturer, but CP was doing major construction last summer and had it ready for opening day.
let add in the city councils as well too I feel like it they have approved sooner construction could have starting much sooner flash was a last minute addition so it a bit muddy in that regards and there needs to be a 15 day notice so there's that and the merger too

It would be great competition! All for it! Although it also flirts with being a monopoly, so not likely.
@@christopherfinch-mccollum1753 how would it flirt with being a monopoly?
With USA,Canada,Mexico sections they could even include Central and South American countries 😍😍😍😍😍@@maverickheartlineroll
SFOT still runs aquaman with one train 95% of the time even with the turntable.
This is sad to hear. When I went it was on two. I had no idea they rarely use the other train.
@@CoasterStudios Yep, I went around 25 times this season and they had two trains once. Not sure if it is because one was down or they were just being Six Flags.
I was there 2 days in July..90+ degrees and with running 1 train the regular line was 15 minutes. They ran 2 trains part of the day and it was a walk on/1 cycle wait. That ride seems to be a flop and not producing the ridership they surely expected.
0 mention of top thrill two? 6:54
great adventure i have no words for that place
I heard the reason for Flash not opening is because of supplying power to the coaster. The electric company working on the project said they would need 3-4 months to build a power grid for Flash, which I guess was too long of a time for the park. So, the park officials almost decided to close Dark Knight and Justice League and use their power source to get Flash open, but I guess the Cedar Fair executives voted against it.
Very interesting if true!
They can reallocate funds for next operating season to finish construction rather than spending it this season.
As long as the rides run well when they open, that’s all that really matters
I approve the move.... allow me elaborate.... they have new management who don't do openings mid and late season so now they have at current time 4 new coasters (and counting) opening in the chain next year
I’m all for this if it means the new rides will be open by at least Memorial Day or maybe before that
@@bobbysteele7640 they’d still be working on them though. It costs a lot of money to demobilize and remobilize construction crews.
@@porcelainthunder2213 not ALOT of money..I worked construction in NY and we have had to discontinue work due to weather and if the companies I worked for can afford it I'm sure Six Flags can too
@@bobbysteele7640 weather is one thing. There is insurance for weather delays. And you’re generally not picking everything up and leaving. Construction companies usually also have clauses that if the project is delayed by the owner, there is usually a pretty hefty fine in the contract. It’s akin to a change order.
I heard the flash rollercoaster was for 2025 (building for Halloween)
What is the track issue with Iron Menance? Have not herd that one yet
There’s a jolt at the end of the ride that is a clear manufacturing defect. It can be seen in on ride videos. It’s not uncomfortable but it’s definitely not supposed to be there.
and i thought top thrill 2 was bad. atleast that ride opened at one point 🤣🤣🤣
I wonder if Flash will begin testing during Holiday In The Park I hope so
I'm really curious what's gonna happen with the Six Flags Mexico tilt coaster.
Is it possible they will do a dual load instead of a turntable for Flash? Similar to Mr. Freeze at St. Louis.
They need a turntable in Georgia
As a Great Adventure passholder, I say...eh. I wasn't terribly excited for Flash, and given the capacity issues, I figured I'd ride it during a passholder preview, and then just ignore it for a while.
What about tt2 ? They knew it was not going to open all summer but left it everywhere on there website
I saw on a Great adventure page that suposily the trains wasn’t even on site yet. Same with Over Georgia. So makes me wounder
Hmm
@@ThrillsofColdplay not sure if that’s true
The train has been onsite since May. I’ve seen the train crates with my OWN eyes. Most people commenting don’t know what they are talking about or the reasons for the delay. Just another reason to be outraged, make content and speculation. The coaster will be opening in 2025. It was a LAST MINUTE addition. The park did its best, old Six Flags corporate is the blame here. Time to move on. New corporate management in town, things will be changing and I’m along for the ride.
@@TheNitroNomad that’s true. I m sure the new six flags will try to get rides open on time
Maybe they want to wait for 2025 for hiking up the prices of annual pass, since supposedly you could use it for both sixflags and cedar fair parks
Can you guys do a video on the coaster about to be revealed at SFGAM next week when they reveal it?
Fr
After the announcement we will
@@CoasterStudios ok and thank goodness it's not fright fest because they announced that yesterday
@@CoasterStudios YES! I've been so looking forward to this! The teasers have been so fun to decode!
@@CoasterStudios🥳
Hansa park shirt is interesting
The turn table for flash isn’t out of the possibility since they have done nothing to the station I hope they open it for 2024 previews in the holiday park or something.
My HOPE is that these delays mean the rides in question will get more theming when they do open.
I think that they are pushing Georgia surfer because it’s a summer coaste that’s supposed to cool you down on a hot day
The thing is its not even technically a water ride- the water feature is just a bonus, it doesn't NEED it to operate, and supposedly the water won't even get you wet cause its shooting outwards from the track, not at the riders themselves.
@@CoasterStudios K, thanks for the info. I was just thinking off the top of my head
Flash has no train no station no queue and the list goes on
So much for the rumored Giga for 2025.....
surfer i buy the delay in stuff coming in. flash on the other hand has to be adding the turn table in. there is no way they are going to say 3-4 hour wait for a boomerang is good for business. either way i hopefully look forward to riding that beautiful ride in 2028.
No turntable is gonna be added for both coasters. This is not like Aquaman where it’s meant to have a turntable but SF got the one without it therefore cause it to get delayed 3 times
No surprises there. At this point we gonna get gta 6 before flash
Also love the content
There's no point in opening a water Rollercoaster down here in Georgia at the end of the season.
It’s not a true water coaster though- the water is not mandatory for the ride to operate- it’s not an actual function like the water on a Mack water coaster or dive coaster that it doubles as a braking system. The water can be turned off here and it won’t affect anything.
This was a messy year for Great Adventure
What does pr stand for I am Curious
do a vid abt sf great america's new coaster before or after it gets announced.
What a shame! Great adventure 50th season and they basically got NOTHING! Thanks for the new Ferris wheel that took 4 ever! GA always does this!
Now that Cedar Fair has majority control over the company, we can only hope that all these late opening s will become a thing of the past.
In my heart of hearts, I hope the delay is for turn-tables.... in my experience it's just over budget and they're delaying to reduce forecasted financial impacts of increased cost...
I could also see this as being a reason
Would Flash at Great Adventure need a turn table? Would it get that many people on it?
I feel like they ran out of budget that they could allocate to them
SFOG get push back it would open up late September or October and its have the water feature on this ride. They want the ride have that on when its open. I go to the park alot and its not the first time a coaster get push back. Kid Flash was push back and till this is not running everyday
Hyperia's teething issues don't seem as bad now, do they?
Bobcat is the best new for 2024 coaster.
They should at least install something smaller, like a flat ride in the meantime
Have a six flags day with a delay!
let add in the city councils as well too I feel like it they have approved sooner construction could have starting much sooner flash was a last minute addition so it a bit muddy in that regards and there needs to be a 15 day notice so there's that and the merger too
I was one of those who bought a Lagoon pass when Primordial was delayed, first thing I thought of when I heard the news of Flash. It’s frustrating from a guest perspective!
classic great adventure
The Flash: Lack of Velocity.
yeah what a weird 24 season
