My next album "Let There Be Fire" is in production, so here's the first single I have to share with you! I'm very excited to return to the Dark Souls lore, and I've been having fun exploring fantasy themes in general on this new album. There will be more coming soon!
The "Angel of the Dark" is a runaway warrior of Londor named Sister Friede, who has decided to hide from the coming age of fire in a cold, rotting painting. This song is her message to us, trespassers in her realm; "Return from whence thou cam'st, for that is thy place of belonging."

I really like the fact that the chorus can be interpreted to be from the PoV of either Sister Friede or the Ashen One.

@@biomegamechdudecould also be referring to the player "betraying" Friede and Vilhelm by having to uncover every little secret and set their world ablaze. Each of you do take a different route, with Vilhelm impatiently trying to stop you ASAP, while Friede simply decides to wait for you to corner yourself between her and Ariandel.

Was it just me who found this DLC rather Meta in a sense?, I mean literally the only reason we are here is because it's more gameplay (well that and Gael) with Friede telling us to leave and what Vilhelm says "I've seen your kind, time and time again.

Such is the conceit of the self-proclaimed seeker of truth" because it's an RPG and we want to uncover everything regardless if it screws other people over?.. maybe it's me overthinking things
Remember what the ONE rotting bird person who is still sane says, after you beat the DLC?
"When the world rots, we set it afire.
For the sake of the next world.
It's the one thing we do right, unlike those fools on the outside."
One of the main plot points of DS3 is the idea that maybe the world DID end.
You aren't playing as an Undead anymore, you're Unkindled-- an undead who was at least partially, but not completely successful in Linking the Flame. And thus, partially immortal and unable to go Hollow: The perfect tool for linking the flame when there are no more undead to do it. Maybe because the human race finally went extinct?
Gwynn didn't care if he was dead, or the king of an empty world, so long as he was KING of it. Linking the flame kept his reign going. And many of those who survived, ( like Friede) felt the same.
So they clung to their seat of power, like flies on a rotting carcass.
Some say that the End of Fire ending is the only "good" ending. Because it creates a chance for a future to come.
But yeah, DLC needed to happen, too.
I always chose to see it as, the Evilness dwelling in this world has already won. But it is not our job to fix that, we are summon to prolong Gywn's illusion of a Glorious, Fiery world. In many circumstances we are the anti-hero, working only to our one goal, and slaying any who get in the way of that. But sometimes, we can be on the side of 'good', like in Ariandel- to help make a cold, dark, and very gentle place, that will one day make a good home...
Not sure I share the sentimet. The Gael and the Painter story arc is light end of the tunnel. Getting the pigment and setting fire to Ariandel is ultimate peak of the story. You venture to get out something unique; Dark soul of man that has never been done before, since it's been hidden and locked out of time and seemingly space. The new painting would therefore be unique, a goodly home for all the forlorn and (possibly) even free of rot (what does the dark soul of man add to the paintings?). How I see is that the girl painter will paint a goodly home for all humans after we usurp the flame and then the cycle of endless age of fire break and age of Dark will finally follow. This would then give the forlorn humans peaceful home to end up after the cycle finally breaks. To me is how I see the ending and the DLCs at least.
@@Himax9 what about usurpation? also end of fire as ds2 says, has been repeated millions of times, it does not matter whether you link or fade, it shall be reborn eventually and so shall the curse of undeath, millions of times, ds2 mentions hundreds of dead nations many of which are simply mentioned by a single passage or npc, what was shown in vatiis unseen lands video was just a portion of what was mentioned, and that was just a drop in a ocean of dead kindoms, all home to millions of people, so rise lord of londor, and claim the painting for humanity, they may have destroyed our world, but we shall make our own
i only have darks souls 1 and i havent progressed far in it and i was wondering which dark souls this DLC is in. Im pretty sure its not dark souls 1 but idk.

I still keep some hope for possible release of new dark souls when the last sister will get introduced to us somehow. Though Im not sure if we will ever see more dark souls as finishing painting with dark soul basicaly made escape room out of Gwyn´s cycle of fire such as becoming lord of hollows to free humanity from the slavery of long dead gods.

I am amazed. Fantasy rock has always been a genre I've enjoyed, and this is a perfect sample of it. The vocals, especially the chorus are simply thrilling, and the high notes are just beautiful. It's certainly got me hyped for what's to come!
Sister Friede may be telling us to turn back, but if everything beyond this is just as awesome as Angel of the Dark, her warning may go unheeded.

Dark Soul players are easy to please considering how crappy mechanics they consider to be inventive and hard, it would be much to expect they have more complex taste for music.

this song really shows the dark atmosphere of Dark Souls
So I have to say, 100% Friede was by far my favorite dark souls boss, both lore wise and in gameplay, she presented a decent challenge but not impossible, and this song brings about a whole new perspective yet the same, it's honestly beautiful. This is the third song I've heard by you, and each one I love, so that being said, it's now time to binge listen to all music and save each one because this is great.
After listening to this song for what feels like a dozen times, I finally noticed the Abyss Watchers theme in the beginning. How did that slip by me the last dozen times?!

I find this is a very good song, not in both the sound of it and the lyrics fitting nicely, but it also really fits Dark Souls very well. I could definitely and honestly say this is one of the best songs I've heard in a very long time.
I actually confused Dark Souls and Bloodborne. That never happened....
to be honest, with some minor adjustments it could fit cainhurst castle very well (either the queen whose name I forgot or Logarius)

I've never, nor do i have the desire to play Dark Souls but i can't help but drool over this song. It probably helps that this sounds like a Breaking Benjamin song and they're one of my favorite bands ever.

Ah sister Friede, that was a fun fight. I managed to get to the third stage on my first try only to get pounded into the dirt in the end.
I really enjoy the fact that more 'obscure' instruments are used in so many songs. I.e Harpsichord, hurdigurdy and so on. It adds such a different sound.

I've just recently came back after 1 or 2 years (basically since the FNAF craze) and at first I didn't rave about your songs but I knew them by heart as me preteen heart would normaly do. BUT I've come back since I saw in my recomendations ''here come the ravens'' and another few songs. I must say, Aviators you have steped up your game like no tommorow. Your songs sound much more grown up and organised. All of this to say... DANG your songs are AWESOME!
