    How does the oil cooler mount? How can we install this with an intercooler? I mean for the price, you should have multiple mounting options right?

    Just a thought...check for leaks while you have the snout off, not after you've buttoned her back up. Looks like a very nice setup. Does it have a thermostat or is it wide open?

      Hello Dick. This kit is available in both thermostatic and non-thermostatic varients. If you'd like any additional information, just check out the product page. www.mishimoto.com/subaru-brz-scion-fr-s-oil-cooler-kit-13.html

      simply take off the the hoses and blow through one side lol. but yeah good question! I would imagine it would just drain most of it and if there is some left it gets filtered.

    do you need to drain your oil before installing the oil cooler?

    • @mishimoto

      Draining will not be required, the only oil you should lose is that from the oil filter.

      +Chris Schenk Lower oil temps instead of hovering at around 240 with hard driving it gets closer to 200. Above 230 the engine will start to cut timing and you'll lose power. I'm second guessing mishimotos kit however I've heard of very bad quality issues on our cars

    can someone tell me how the water moves even though there is no pump?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 років тому

      Your oil pump in the engine would pressurize this just like the rest of the system.

    • @shadowking1711
      @shadowking1711 5 років тому

      @@mishimoto so it moves because of the force of the oil pump? Is that really how that works?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  5 років тому

      It is the same pressure that pushes oil through your filter and engine block.

    Whats the point in having an oil cooler on a non-turbo engine? If it needed an oil cooler wouldn't subaru have put one on at the factory?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  10 років тому +7

      ***** Oil cooling is not a component that is specific to forced induction. Lower oil temperatures will promote improved lubrication and reduced engine wear on any type of internal combustion engine. We have found this upgrade to be very useful for those tracking their vehicle, driving aggressively, or for those in a warm climate. The Mishimoto oil cooler reduces and regulates oil temperatures in any of these conditions. Feel free to let me know if you have further questions. :)

      +BerettaTV The twins run hot on a warm summer day. The factory tune cuts back hp. Keeping the oil cool is a plus along with the extra oil capacity.

    • @fatboy19831
      @fatboy19831 8 років тому +1

      851995STARGATE Price and weight. No they would not put one on at the factory. The take rate would be to small to even have it as an option. In normal driving not a problem. On a hot day in stop and go driving heat is a problem with the twins stock. It is funny to me when I see guys adding a turbo or SC without upgrading the cooling system. Oil and coolant. Everything on the twins has been designed to cut weight and cost.
