Hello, fellow FOOD TRIPPERS! Please join us on this FOOD TRIP for a new hotpot experience at FOUR SEASONS BUFFET & HOTPOT by Vikings at Building E, SM By The Bay, Mall of Asia Complex.
Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot restaurant has a pleasant ambiance and a spacious dining area. Every table is properly set and has an induction cooktop that provides a safer and faster cooking time for hotpot dishes. The buffet has a variety of hotpots to choose from making it Vikings Hotpot City offering a delicious feast and a treat any day perfect for sharing with friends and loved ones.
One popular soup base is the Malatang, a numbing spicy broth flavored with Sichuan peppercorns and dried chili peppers, still, we opted for the native Sinigang broth and enjoyed it with unexpected delight with raw tamarind fruits added to the cooking broth, creating an extra sour flavor, which we love and the semi-spicy Laksa soup, flavored with just the right amount of heat.
The chiller at the Meat section has premium hotpot ingredients of thin-sliced meats Pork and Beef, Offal meat, Chicken Feet, and Pork hocks, among others. The Seafood Section has fresh Shrimp, Salmon Belly, Fish Heads & Fillets, Mussels, and Squid, alongside Tofu, Fish Cake, Squid Balls, & Dumplings, kinds of Noodles, and a variety of Mushrooms, with baskets of Fresh Leafy, and Root Vegetables.
The wide selection of fresh, irresistible, and quality ingredients for the hotpot makes each diner's choice unique, putting one's preferences into a dish. The fun part of do-it-yourself hotpot cooking takes place before our eyes, with the flavor-packed aroma that whets our appetite. It makes our hotpot experience more enjoyable and satisfying.
The buffet has varied stations such as Appetizers with a colorful variety of Sushis and Makis, kinds of Tempura, and Nacho Chips with Meat & Cheese Dips, alongside Bread Rolls, Butter, and Pizza, which is best complemented with Pasta Carbonara, Seafood Marinara, and Pasta E-Olio.
The buffet also showcases an array of Hot Main Meals that tantalize our taste buds like the interesting dish Pork Dongpo, a traditional Chinese dish renowned for its exquisite flavor, a recipe of pork belly cubes braised in soy sauce, ginger, scallions, and aromatics, named after a famous poet known as Su Dongpo, that dates back to the Song Dynasty.
The chef in the open kitchen at the Teppanyaki Station prepares freshly cooked beef slices, pork barbecue, and gyoza, and serves fast at our table. The Teppan-cooked meals are best paired with melon fruit salad, turnip salad, macaroni salad, mixed vegetable salad, and other side dishes of pickled Kimchi Radish, Korean Sweet Potato, and Spicy Fried Potato.
Luckily, when we dined, the Desserts Section had intricately designed mooncakes, a Chinese delicacy, shared with family and friends during the Mid-Autumn Festival also known as the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival, a harvest festival celebrated in the Chinese culture. The mooncakes are shaped like round moons with red bean and lotus seed paste, symbolizing completeness and family unity, while the salty egg yolk in the middle, signifies the moon and is linked to good luck.
Other desserts spread at the buffet that we feasted on were fresh fruit: papaya, red watermelon, bananas, pineapples, cantaloupe, and dragon fruit alongside native delicacies, cakes, yogurt, and ice cream. The Beverage Bar serves refreshments of fruit juices, iced tea, soft drinks, imported beer in cans, and types of specialty hot coffee that we enjoyed throughout the buffet.
