Gorilla, you gotta learn about houses with access and garages behind the house! You rode right by an alley with only garages. Next time you’re there check it out. I think it'd be sad if you sold the Z but it would be understandable. I think the SV650 would be a better option than extra wheels/tires, modifications (including maybe custom fab), and not being able to daily ride the Z just to have it trackable.
Oh I did know about them but yes I 100% missed those bad boys 😂 I'll spin back that way soon and have a look. I'm really going to try not to, I think I'd regret it a lot considering all I've done to it. Yep. Easier to get parts for too and spare wheels are cheaper etc. just makes way more sense. Plus if have to to enter the races I want to
Love the SV650 idea! I have always wanted one of those bikes, especially the 2nd or current generation. It may be worth looking at the Gladius, as well. As far as I know it was the same bike. I usually see lower resale value on those, because of the bad reputation due to the styling. I know several of the SV race parts Robem Engineering makes specifically list Gladius compatibility. If you were going to strip it down and put a race fairing on it anyway, it may be all the same. Just throwing it out there, I have little doubt you’re already aware of all that! 😄
Me too! I've always liked them, always had a weird feeling I'd end up owning one too :D Hahaha would you believe I have a saved search for the Gladius and SV650S mainly. The gladius are cheap but when you factor in everything else they'd need to meet the rules it gets pricier. I'm honestly looking to spend about 1800 on a SV so I don't have to sell things. But definitely a consideration as they tend to be newer and lower mileage too!!
Great videos! Recently picked up this bike and got the ecu flashed by Ivan but still have quite strong engine braking and the engine is still prone to lurching on uneven roads (e.g. if I hit a drain cover or pothole). Wanted to ask if you've had the same/similar experience?
I have not, sorry to ask as I'm sure it's grand but have you checked your chain tension? That can also cause that. If that's fine I'd honestly call Ivan, maybe something he put on there didn't quite take or something. Mine has been 100% smoother since the flash.
You should give the triumph speed triple a look if you’ve never tried one before too! I know you’re pretty tall but I think it might work ok for you and they are solid track bikes!
@@zachreid1484 I've ridden one, great bikes but they don't really fit in to any of the classes I want to race in, if I was just staying doing only track days I'd probably just keep using the Z .
I have gone down the dedicated track bike route. Yes it wont get used as much, but it is set up for the track. No registration/insurance costs either. Sounds like you are going down the same path. I am currently setting up a 2000 Aprilia RSV as a dedicated track bike.
Yeah exactly the same. Plus I want something I can enter in to certain race classes. I want to actually race more than just do track days, obviously still do those too 😂 Oh that will be a beast.
I love it, but this one was crashed so I could afford it already and I fixed it up. The other issue is it's not for a track bike per se I need to meet certain class rules if I'm going to race, so it's easier just get an SV650
@@TheGorillaBiker got it.. The sv650 is a fantastic bike specially for the track aftermarket parts is huge. Pls try to keep the Rs I really like your videos. You may not believe it but you’re one of the reasons I purchased mine two years ago when you did a video with the dark green Rs with the black cowl and how you like that bike.
Exactly, and it covers a big range of classes I can ride in. It is very unlikely I will sell it tbh, it'll be an absolutely last straw and hopefully be avoided, really don't want to sell it! Oh really!? haha that's cool, I'm glad you liked it after buying it :D
XSR900 ? 🤔 Nostalgic but with possibilities . . . . The SV650 is just a bike that leaves me cold. A lot of people seem to mod and race the, so that seems like a good road to take. Certainly better to go out there on something you are not paranoid about destroying. I still can't believe how short lived those tyres are 😯 I could not have afforded to go racing on those! Good luck with this new project. Looking forward to lots of race prep videos. 👍
XSR would be cool but even used they're pricey. My decision was honestly be made largely by the classes myself and Tom are aiming to hit, landed on an SV650, if we both have one we can race each other and then have a spare bike for team endurance races etc. Yeah the Q5S tyres will not be getting a kind review :D Thanks amigo :)
So Irish lol. We have neighborhoods not estates 😂 I say keep them all and buy more, always my answer. Lastly, I think sv650 is most bang for your buck, really fun bike
I dunnooooo they look like estates :P They call them subdivisions over this way also. Keep everything is the aim, but we'll see is that possible I need to buy a trailer as well for getting to the races. Yeah for sure and lots of support and parts for it too
Great to see that you have accomplished your desire to mod and race your RS, such a great feet. As we go on in life we live and learn on the things we might find desirable, but cannot do all the things we would like them to do. At the end of the day all bikes are about having fun, Track/Race or road riding they are awesome machines. I find your riding skills for a very tall fella are more better than most other men at your height, experience I suppose?. As the saying goes, we cannot throw all the eggs in one basket for we have other important things in life. Enjoy what ever your doing and keep safe. Cheers
Do I buy another bike? Yes. Hahahahaha. Get an R1. Non registered for track only. BMW S1000RR. ZXR1000. GSXR1000. Sell the 900 even though it is beautiful. The Strombone’ is a great road bike.
Yes you should :P Not getting a 1000, limits the races I can enter and I'm not talented enough to use one anyway, I'd rather learn more going slower! :) I'm going to ignore that last sentence unless I have to follow this correct advice 😂😂
I bought and built an sv 650s after your old vid from your review. I found it a great beginner track bike. I put k tech front forks, hyperpro rear shock, brembo mc, hel lines and brembo pads. Running s22s as it doubles up as a road bike too. I'm only 5 10 and gen 1 I prefer. I think with your height gen 2 might be better. I found it to be good torquey nimble road/track machine. Great for mondello. Bit of a rolling road block on a fast straight though. Best wishes with the racing. Sv is loved there in the US.
It is indeed loved here, a gen 2 is 100% what I'd be going for, more so for the availability of classes to race in than the bike itself tho! Glad the vid helped you find a nice bike :D I miss Mondello. I'm already a road block in a straight line on the Z900RS tbh :D
Of course the grand plan is to not have to sell anything, which hopefully I can make work but time will tell! The main thing is I wanna race 😂
Just sell it! 😂 get a proper race bike 🏍️
@@wuhaaaaa I'll only sell it if I absolutely have to, I only bother going to work to buy bikes so ideally I can pick up an affordable SV!
