Lol im new to ark, building in this game is so much more complicated than other games of this style lol. All this work... to make a circle xD props to you guys who take the time to figure this out. Took me like an hour to figure out how to build a simple bridge last night
Thank God this came up on my recommended vids! Such a baller way to build a circle. I have been watching building tutorials for a while and never seen this method before.Defo gonna make a couple of these. Was it all your own idea? If so then it is genius. Thanks for sharing :)
Had my own way of making a 12-sided "circle" of foundations, but this 24-sided monstrosity is awesome. I would add that, if you aren't concerned with resource use, you can skip the final, outer fence foundations, attach a staircase to the inside of the outer wall you made, then attach an actual foundation to the bottom of the staircase. Repeat that all the way around and then you can destroy all the walls and pillars and use the outer foundations as a means to work inward until the entire base is actual foundations and only a couple feet off the ground. With this method, you don't need to switch to thatch, either. Also, just so others know... You don't actually HAVE to use wood or stone. Metal works just fine.
"snap a fence foundation in between the 2 ceilings", I have clicked the mouse firmly between the two wood floors, but the bardur doesn’t appear. And thank you very much Aaron for your video tutorials.
Wow, another great build. I built this on Valguero as a starter building and love it!! Just wondering if, after the floor is finished, can I destroy the wooden fence foundations?
This looks beautiful but why can't I get past step two? The fence foundations weren't snapping in between the ceilings on the hexagon despite straight snaps being enabled. Does Structures Plus eliminate the need for these steps?
Ive watched a few of these videos and the items NEVER place as easy as they do in these videos. I get so frustrated because Im doing exactly as they are and it just doesnt work :/
It’s difficult to get used to and the angles can be different for others for some reason. Just gotta find the sweet spot and use that angle for that placement
Does work for me. I tried standard and S+ blocks. When I destroy or pick up the second tile the fence foundation breaks. Tried many times many angles, same effect. There are easier ways to get a circle base on relatively flat ground, I was hoping this pillar system would be better for uneven ground.
I did the same thing and then realised that I had to start my first square ceiling at a different snap point. Each one has to go between the join of the triangle foundations.
Thank you for the explanation!. It was the easiest method I found for this type of construction !. Now I will pass on this knowledge with my constructions !. I love your videos is a great teacher and builder! A hug from a big fan here in Brazil.
I'm no pro , but can u can snap a pillar 1 or 2 higher ? , (remember there's still pillars beneath). There4 there's should be no problem. Just repeat the sealing part over the # of pillars of your choosing.
I just used this in a build on Lost Island. Had some problems getting a dinosaur gateway(width of two) to fit so that it is aesthetically pleasing, don't actually like the way my solution looks. This seems to be due to not having and edge at the circle that is two ceilings on which to place. In the past planning to use a gateway ahead of time give way to being able to make it snap centered on two ceilings. Just couldn't find a way to have two adjacent ceiling align with the center joint for two ceiling at the perimeter. But I do like this and will be using this else where. Thanks for the excellent videos!
No problem can't take credit for the technique though it was The Pilgrimz Project seen his video and thought it needed to be shared with as many people as possible so I decided to make this tutorial!
Is there a video showing finished house with decor? You did great here for the building nerds but you forgot the icing on that cake for us decorating geeks 😢. Love your work
@@AaronLongstaff, thanks for the reply 💘 Maybe you can revisit can complete? Some of us are not as creative and would like to see the amazing house that you could put on this engineering genius of a platform. Thanks again for sharing your fun and work 👌
I’m kinda confused as to why you need fence foundations on the outer ring...due to my ground not being perfectly flat the walls aren’t flush...I can just snap ceilings below the top ring of ceilings without the fence foundations. Other than that an awesome build vid 👍
This maybe because on the server your playing, clipping is permitted. That is structures are allowed to clip the ground (be hidden by the ground). On PC Solo play this setting is located at: Main Menu ---> Host \ Local ---> General Tab ---> Disable Structure Placement Collision Checking this box "Allows players to place structures the clip into terrain." ON PC Solo play the default for this is unchecked. I assume that this is the same on official servers.
I have a question, how many ceilings can you go out with this method? Is there a limit before it becomes too difficult or the circle shape becomes deformed? Additionally, I had an issue with the second major step where you are placing the fence foundations after the triangle foundations have been laid. In this step, the fence foundation would break once I picked up the ceilings. I solved this by turning my character and placing the ceilings on a different set of the triangle foundations. I had to repeat this till I found a starting point that wouldn't delete the fence foundation after I picked up the ceilings. From then every step after went smoothly, except for what WEC_ID has pointed out in his reply, at 6:18 in the video. So pay extra attention to where you place the ground fence foundations to help align the stone walls to close off the outside of the build. I managed to miss place 3 of them and that ended up ruining the perfect finish to the build.
Cool I always wanted to have a circular greenhouse, but never managed such a perfect circle, but I have built a castle on the tree platform based on your video the other day.
Now make a birthday cake with two layers of circles and put 16 pillars in the top for candles. Paint/frost your cake and place camp fires on the top of each candle. Happy birthday
One question, may you do your videos without flying? Because it would be better for making the builds normally. Also, is it possible to use all stone or all metal or Tek for the full stuff?
This was fun! Thank you. Only thing I had a problem with was that I used S+ and for some reason the S+ stone fence foundation wouldn't snap to the thatch ceiling. NP though, I just used vanilla stone fence foundation and all was good ^_^
There is more than enough foundation support due to the pillars as they give you an additional 2 foundation support you could even go 2 more out from the last pillar if you like
The final stone fence foundations wouldn't work, but square foundations went down without an issue (maybe an xbox thing). building the outer walls off of the foundations (rather than the ceilings) enabled ability to put a roof on this and remove all of the inner pillars so you can live inside it. thanks
Have you ever tried extending this further? I would assume the trick to that being that you'd have to find exact in-between snap points for pillars starting at the 3rd outside row.
I love your videos Aaron Longstaff but I don't really see the point of this method over just using a combination of square and triangle foundations. For uneven terrain? But what about internal snap points? And the ceiling?. Again no hate just curious as to what advantage this circle method has over any others

I need help for what ever reason after i place the wooden fence foundation between the ceilings and then remove them, the foundation breaks. What do i do?
So what i ended up doing was making thatch cielings ,wood pillars and ladders did it on official you have to be looking almost straight down to place things
Awesome video! Quality as always. Question for you though. Using this method, I'm struggling to get a dinogate to sit on here and have the rest of the ceilings where I removed walls be supported. Any tips?
Aim for top of thatch roof at an angle and it should snap at floor. Take a bit of position. Snaps ahead of ya a pillar or two. Aim for one away from you. Not the ome you'd stand under/next to. If that makes sense .-.
Great build as always Aaron. I wonder, would it work to put the stone fence foundations on the ground below the thatch, then place wall on them. But after that, delete the rest of the center and build ceilings inward off of the fence foundation walls? That way you have a x1 high "foundation" instead of the x1.5 high foundation. I want to do a greenhouse/aviary with this method.
I made this on my island base and it worked wonders! But now that I'm trying to do it on scorched, the first fence foundation breaks whenever i remove the ceilings, no matter which snap point i use.. did they change something, or am i missing something? vanilla, no s+
Depending on how you lay out the rest of your base, you could easily put a hatch frame in the middle and keep your generators down there. Just pop open the hatch when you need to refill it.

I had to build a small structure to stand on so that I was looking down on the thatch roof. Or you can do this from the saddle of tall tames.
Nunyabusinesse yes
Aim for top of thatch roof at an angle and it should snap at floor. Take a bit of position. Snaps ahead of ya a pillar or two. Aim for one away from you. Not the ome you'd stand under/next to. If that makes sense .-.
This is so cool!
Thx ive been wanting to know.
Can u make a tutorial for a pvp build which looks nice and is organised and has defence
I made this on my island base and it worked wonders! But now that I'm trying to do it on scorched, the first fence foundation breaks whenever i remove the ceilings, no matter which snap point i use.. did they change something, or am i missing something? vanilla, no s+
Nice work👍
