I have this vacuum. I purchased it about 7 years ago. Very shortly after I bought it, (Maybe a week??), I noticed that it no longer stands up on its own and the head of the vacuum doesn't stay engaged with the floor when I try and use it. I suspect one of my kids possible broke an internal piece by not making sure it was disengaged prior to tipping it back. Is this a known issue with a fix that I can do myself? It's a good vacuum, but we've relegated it to the basement because in it's current condition doesn't do a great job. We use a Royal Protégé 7300 as our daily vacuum, which works great, but I'd really like to fix this Miele if at all possible. Thanks in advance for your help!

My U1 Eco plus smells so bad I cleaned brush roll area with alchohol wipes and put new bag and filters and it still smells so so bad !
Might be time to take it to your Miele dealer for a service. Could be dirt and bacteria in the motor housing, hair in the brushroll end caps burning or something else. Regular maintenance will keep you out of the shop for longer intervals, but sometimes you need a professional to troubleshoot it. Good luck!

Not without a lot of disassembly, unfortunately.

You can take the whole top cover off, but that requires a LOT of disassembly. So I guess the question is whether or not the dirt is bothering you that badly?
Helpful video! Did Miele discontinue this upright series ? The brushroller servicing is far easier than in their stand alone WW powerheads!
Yup, it was killed off a couple years ago with no direct replacement.
