    It really seems as though Tori Amos made the public think that she was raped at gunpoint, which did not occur, in order to garner sympathy from them to sell records. Also, the press would be too afraid of criticizing her too much, in the fear of being described as being heartless against rape victims.

      She used "gun" as a matter of poetic license, but the rape itself did in fact occur. She went into detail about it only once (early in her career IIRC). In a separate televised interview, she was asked why she didn't report the rape back when it first happened at the age of 21 (so circa 1984-85) and she stated: "Look, I was a nightclub singer. I dressed sexy. Let's face it, my case was over before it even began." She didn't report it because she knew the authorities wouldn't do anything.

      @@rosemarsili9159 I liked it because it is the damn truth of her life. That this song exists is her bravery! I cry every time I listen to it!!!
