It's also ironic that the real LeMat pistol is incapable of fanning due to the way it works but fanning is the best perk for the gun in game.
Can you elaborate on that? I know it was breakable but I didn't know fanning was impossible.
I don't know much about the irl one, so I want to ask; why is that?
Reloading the LeMat was also not possible like it is in the game. It was a muzzle loaded gun. This is why the LeMat we have in the game is the "mk 2"
@@archer260 maybe rapid twitching of the hammer would accidentally switch that tab which directs which barrel would fire qnd instead of fanning all 9 rounds in cylinder you'll fire a shotgun and then stop... Idk. Fanning was more prevalent with single-action guns, but LeMat was a single-action gun, so i dunno how it would be impossible to fan the hammer.
@@TheItzKJ hey hey! Someone else who knows their guns. That’s the first thing I thought when I first reloaded the pistol. But it still even has the tamping lever even though though you reload the cylinder with cased ammo.
Another important aspect I don't think you mentioned is pairing this with a shotgun means a greater ammo pool. If you empty the basically meme shotgun barrel you get 4 extra shots or slugs if you're so inclined. Great to go with a Crown and king
It's my combo for using the Slate atm. Just make sure you fire off the shotgun before you hit an ammo crate and you get the extra 4.

The lemat shotgun is best used as a melee weapon when you can't switch to a knife
My friends have been dissing me about using this gun since i started playing 6 months ago. Its easily the most underrated revolver out there. And despite me hating fanning, i do tend to put fanning on a lemat
Well, the gun is interesting but the video completely skip the worst aspect of this weapon: the rate of fire and the damage are terrible
So you essentially take it for a highly inconsistent shotgun and 3 more bullets
Instead you can take the caldwell conversion, pay less and have better RoF and damage (both weapons have fmj)

Note: Ambidextrous does not benefit the reload of the shotgun shells. (Wait, nevermind. Without ambidexterous it is 11 seconds, with it it is around 9 seconds. The animation does not change though which is how I got confused.)

Correct, but the double reload isn't particularly fast - takes about 6s or so (I haven't actually timed it)
Actually it does reload faster for both shells and compact ammo.

-You didnt talk about lemat slugs which makes the lemat a very good secondary if paired with fmj. It is useful if you have a single shot weapon primary and someone up in your face. The slugs will reliably one shot up to about 10 meters (saved my hunters multiple times).
-also you can use the lemat as a secondary for shotguns with custom ammo that are ammo hungry like the terminus

Look, youre just using starshells wrong. You gotta get three dudes, arm em all with dual SS and axes, fire all your flares into a boss room and blare heavy metal. Dont ask, just trust.
I tend to take the starshell just so I can have a flare pistol while still having the room to take a melee weapon, midkit, and two traps for tools. If I never planned on using the shotgun part anyways, might as well make use of it for semi-silent PVE.
The gun guides earned my subscription, the community content earned my respect, and I've been waiting for this one! My favorite pistol, with all the authoritative sound in its shots! Love it, Home Reel!!!
It also has the best legendary in the game being the Brass Flower.

How does anyone else feel about a trait that lets you ADS one pistol while dual wielding
That would be very useful . You would ADS the first one and when you empty its cylinder you aim with the other .
If only we could fire with only one pistol at a time when dual wielding . Instead of holding both revolvers infront of your face and blocking the view most of the time especially when using big chunky pistols (the lemat for example)

I don’t think I’d mind that! It’d make dual wielding much more common and viable, and you still wouldn’t be able to fan it so there’d still be an advantage to single-wielding.
That and, it would still be a trade-off because it would make dualies less effective at close range if they can only hipfire up close.
One extra detail i love about the Lemat Shotgun is that the wide spread is perfect for blindshot poking through walls. The wide spread almost guarantees a hit, although with pretty much no damage.
So, it might be stupid and kind of pointless, but there is actually a big brain reason to take starshells on the LeMat: If you're working on grinding the XP for it when you first unlock it or after a prestige. Take the starshells, and then use them to kill armoreds and hives; the XP for the starshell kills counts for unlocking the other ammo types.

also Lemat with fmj and slugs is op combo. Can wipe teams duo or trio. And is perfect side arm with fanning. worth the price of fanning which I never run unless I find it. other wise I use doctor physician and frontiersmen when I can. switch out frontiersmen for fanning. don't have to worry about healing when you can send hella lead at em.
Lemat best pistol, its a drug, as soon as I tried it I couldn't use another one, fanning 9 fmj rounds is beautiful. Even for long ranges, I got a 80-90m headshot with it the other day and felt like a god

So everyone is probably familiar with the LeMat in Red Dead, that example is the original black powder cap & ball/muzzle loader. The one in this video seems to use cartridges, which there are rare examples of them out there. Ian over at FogottenWeapons and the guys over at Brownells have a video of the examples they got a hold of. Now while we see a gate for the pistol cartridges, there doesn’t seem to be one for the shotgun rounds… which the real life guns had, so all you had to do was flip it open and throw a shotgun round in there.
Edit: Oh god, I just saw how they have you load the shotty. Break apart action… The reason why there’s not too many break action revolvers is because it’s a weak action, larger rounds would destroy that thing. But ya know, bideo game, let’s pretend. The nerd in me will just be screaming on the inside as I shove him in the locker for everyone to ignore.

I really like it with slugs, It is not that much more expensive than an upercut and rounds out a long ammo rifle loadout (my favorite here is the martini henry riposte) to make you deadly at every range.

If I’m running a lemat, it’s probably with the crossbow. With arms existing and my inability to aim, having a backup CQC option to clean up kills or when I outright miss is appreciated.

I love the lemat, but the shotgun is basically just a really loud melee
The slight increase of night maps for event got me into using the LeMat which I had previously hated too much to get used to and have since grown to love.
Good sight for head clicking and I always carry starshell for night utility just in case.
i have been enjoying the lemat recently. i ignored it for a long time and then had like 25 saved up from hunters i unequip it from. so decided to jus spam it eve3yr round for a while. got some good kills with the shotgun. it can often outrange a bayonet. or a desperate knife charge guy.

The Lemat is my goto gun, and despite the price, the slugs feel wonderful if you like a pocket romero. That said, as much as I like fanning on the lemat, the circle feels sooo much larger than the conversion, and even at closer ranges I feel like my bullets spread is super significant if I don't burst fire, unlike the conversion where I can just hold down left click and win.
Conversion has a slightly tighter, faster, more vertical spread.
LeMat has a slightly slower, more box-like spread. Easy to see in training mode against barns. The difference isn't HUGE, but noticeable if you run Conversion often
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this video for a while now! I love this pistol, the iron sight on it is super good for some reason and I've gotten so many headshots with it. The shotgun on it is kinda niche but when it's useful it's really useful. Taking this with FMJ plus a shotgun is my go to shotgun build.

To answer your question, you CAN have a shotgun in your cake. It just can't be loaded, otherwise the shells go off during the baking process.

I love the lemat shotgun for countering people rushing around corners with shotguns / counter rushing around corners.
Lemat akimbo with slug raises the slug ammo pickup rate for the slate from 1-2 to 4-7. Expensive but makes slug on the slate viable
