Unscrewing the blade from the axle by rotating it counter-clockwise was key for me. Thank you!

I tried unsuccessfully to pry off the bottom, but after reading another persons description of how it was just stuck, I decided to just manually spin the blade by hand. I did it for awhile and it got loser, plugged it in and it spun a bit, I kept repeating this until the blade finally broke free of whatever was causing it to bind and it works fine now. I suggest trying that first before trying to disassemble the entire thing. All I managed to do was put marks all over the 4 hole surfaces when trying to pry it loose!

Ok I just hammered the base screw that attaches to the blade and it started working again, I’m not sure of the repercussions of this but I’m currently making coffee !

Thanks. This was a useful video. I had cleaned my Krups blade grinder with a wet paper towel and a bit of water must have got into the top bearing. When Ii tried to use it a week later, it was seized up. I guess the water had combined with coffee dust to make a paste which seeped into the top bearing and dried to prevent it from turning. This video, and it's companion video, enabled me to open the top and bottom of the grinder, remove the blade, clean out the top bearing with a dental pick (you can use a pin), free it up, and lubricate it.
    -
Note, where the vlogger used a fine hot air blower, I just aimed a hot hair blow-dryer into each of the bottom holes, pried away the bottom with a screwdriver, and the bottom came free -- the hot air is the key, to getting it off
    -
I then put two drops of machine oil on the top bearing, got it to turn fairly free (it's normal for it have a bit of smooth resistance), and reassembled the unit. I used clear postal mailing tape, trimmed with scissors, to hold the bottom on. It now works like new, and I now know how to renew the unit / free the bearing if it ever seizes up again. $25 saved! 👍

(Bonus -- while searching for this video, I encountered another video that shows how to get a better, more uniform grind from a blade grinder, resembling that from a burr grinder: pulse-grind the beans 2 seconds at a time; hold the unit shaking it gently while grinding; feel the granularity with your fingers til it feels the way you want it (should feel like fine sand); avoid creating dust This will minimize the formation of fine dust and give you a more uniform granular grind rresulting in better extraction.. ua-cam.com/video/bYS4tW-yn4k/v-deo.html )

I used this info to replace the mains wire that had broken at the entry point into the base. To do this you need to remove the base but not the blade/ motor. Mine is an old version of this model- about 12 years old I think but seemed identical to the one shown. The hairdryer worked well (I used the focusing attachment on the hairdryer to narrow the heated area and warmed for about 30-45 secs on max heat- be careful not to melt it!). I found that it worked best to warm all the points first and then re-warm the first point to lever off the base. The blade of a blunt table knife worked much better than a screwdriver that tended to damage the plastic. I also found the clips opposite side of the mains wire were easier to start the levering process- but this might have been just my unit. Anyway I shortened the mains cable and now all works well, and I cancelled my Amazon order for a new one!! So thanks for the video!!

Thanks a lot. Couldn't find a guide how to remove the blade/bowl, and this explained it perfectly. I was rinsing it clean with water, until I heard water trapped somewhere. Needless to say, that's fixed.

You're right. But it's impossible to get to the screw through the small rectangular hole. Very crappy design, if you ask me....

I thank you for your video but mine was much harder to open from the bottom. Before I tried that, I tried loosening the mechanism from the top, which didn't work. After opening, I tried to put the motor back together, but the pins on springs were a huge pain. In the end, I ended up accidentally breaking a wire and threw the unit out. Appreciate you making a video for this, even if it didn't work out for me. I won't be buying another Krups product though...

Don't bash it with a hammer! You need to remove the two screws under the stainless steel "bowl" first. These instructions are also good for the older but similar Krups F202 Household Coffeemill. For the F202, remove the bottom by taking out the two screws and then unscrew the blade from the motor. You may need a gripper like a pair of pliers on the blade and a screwdriver in the slot on the bottom end of the motor shaft to unscrew it. Then you might need to tap the motor shaft to release it from the plastic dust seal. The stainless steel bowl DOES NOT need to be removed on the F202: There are no screws below it. Remove the power cord retainer and the motor will slide out. Use a drop or two of light motor oil ("3-IN-ONE" oil is good) on the bearing at each end of the shaft and reassemble. This video and Part 2 (reassembly) are very helpful!

The blade on mine was stuck so unplugged machine & placed tea towel around blade and slightly turned clockwise to ease, very stubborn but eventually turned easily and machine started working.

Hi, did you try from the bottom using a screwdriver? One viewer suggests, you can use screwdriver if you remove bottom label. Hope this will help. Thanks

Followed these instructions. Rubber seal will be damaged. Pins that hold bottom on may break (could super glue the bottom back on I guess). Not built for being repaired. I recommend simply replacing.
