Thank you Alexis! With your video I could open my grinder (and not lose the safety spring - haha), and I repaired the switch by reattaching it with superglue and two cuttings taken from a small cable tie, glued to the switch's neck and wedged under the securing washer and screw. Now it works better than when new. I'm delighted!
I was sure I wasn't gonna find anyone with this exact same problem but here it is. this is really helpful. I'll probably just glue on the old crappy plastic switch though since it's an easier fix even though it might not last as long
Ooooh snap. Thanks for the details on this one mate. I did the button swap same yourself (first time soldering on a circuit board) and the fact it turned back on afterwards puts me over the moon. Thanks again mate.
Thanks Alex, I couldn't get it apart either! Repaired it with a toggle switch as same as you, I couldn't face pulling it apart again in 6 months when the glue or wire failed.
So useful to see the technique to detach the clips and open the casing. If you shook the switch back into place you could activate the grinder until it dislodged again. After opening following your video I bedded the leg from the broken switch in a large blob of hot glue behind the retaining screw so it stays seated in the right place. My Krups grinder is back to life!
Thank you Alexis, you've expanded the lifetime of my grinder! without your video i would never have taken the chance of disassembling it. The faulty on/off button was not broken but not making contact with the switch, stupid to be so cheap on such an essential part! Fixed for now and if breaking down i'll just glue some more plastic to contactor. So much for German quality!
My switch broke off and fell inside just like you showed. Very helpful showing how to open. I couldn't understand why I couldn't just push the power switch. Found the cup switch was jammed a little. Got that clicking again and grinder started again. Now i just use the handle of the brush to push the start switch through the original switch hole. No risk of damaging anything with soldering modifications.
Great stuff! Thank you! I fixed my button (same problem, the tiny plastic had broken) by winding steel wire tightly around it, making a small loop for the casing-screw to hold. Works like a charm now. Thank you so much for the disassembly video! :D
I was having a similar problem with the switch, it was operating intermittently. With the help of your video, I was able to disassemble the unit. I found that the circuit board containing the switch had slipped from the retaining clips allowing it to move away from the on/off button. I reinstalled the board into the mounts and reassembled. I never would have gotten it open without your video. THANKS
Thank you for this! I dis-assembled it following your video and fixed the button retaining shaft w crazy glue, reassembled and voila! Its fine now! Took only 10 minutes! Much appreciated Alexis!
Great video to show how to disassemble the grinder to get to the switch. I was able to use crazy glue to glue the plastic tab that the switch is mounted back together. Then put a small piece of fabric on each side and glued with crazy glue. Put the switch back in and perfect. The actual switch was fine. Just the button that touches it was broken. Thanks for the video.
Success - once I took mine apart it was the sensor switch that the lid activates that was clogged up and just needed a good clean - but getting the outer case off was the main help. Thanks
I see it's been quite a while since you posted this but I wanted to thank you for it. Your video was so clear and we'll done that I was confident and able to open and repair my failing grinder (nothing to do with the power button by the way). You did a great job with the video and I appreciate your having shared it.
Thank you very much! I wouldn't be able to open it without your video. Instead of using an other button, I fixed the broken one with a cut plastic card and some adhesive tape.
This helped me a lot. I fixed my switch slightly differently. I put unscrewed the switch attachment and taped the two pieces together with duct tape, then screwed it back in. Seems to be working ok. I don;t have Alexis' skills to fix it more professionally.
You are the man! Thank's a lot! In hope og helping any of my fellow nordic european inhabitants, (if youtube comments show up in a google seach?) this machine is identical to the OBHnordic G700. I opted to use the superglue/baking powder trick on the broken part of the button. On top of that I layed a thick layer of hotglue all over the fragile part. So far, so good. P.S. Designed to fail, like this button clearly is, should be forbidden by law!
Thank you for showing how to take it apart. I cut a piece of cork and glued it next to the button, so that the button can’t fall into the unit. Works fine. Low tech solution.
Super video showing how to de assemble. I did glue an extra piece of plastic on the push bottom which also was fastened with the screw. Hopefully it works well for 5 more years. Actually its a fine Grinder. :-)
Nice, thanks. Ours has lasted several years actually. I mainly just came here to see how to get the case off. Haha. But this is a great idea. For tonight though, just needed to get to the switch.
Oh, forgot to mention, I saw the little white plastic spring for the grind size when I took off the button, then I got to the part of your video that said "don't lose this" I look, and mine is gone. Ha
Thank you for the instructions on disassembly. Similar problem to your switch, the circuit board has flexed so the plastic push button does not make contact with the micro switch on the circuit board. I braced the board from behind with a piece of foam so the button now makes contact. Working again.
Super helpful - thanks. Like jacobsteel - I used the video to help with taking it apart, then I improvised (i didn't have a switch to hand) first supergluing the plastic clip back together and I also added a support baton, using tin-snips to cut up a spare terry clip to get a flat plate. It works, but no idea how long it will last, still for people without soldering skills this approach may help. (i've ordered a switch though for incase it breaks)
Moral of this is never throw anything away until UA-cam has been checked. Grinders cost about $40 - 50. And besides, I'm always looking for something to do.
Just pulled mine apart...thanks the video was essential! My button isn’t broken though. When I press the two cutoff switches and the power button it will pulse, but not continually run. Any ideas?
Before opening - check the lid lockout switch, if any coffee dust is in the lip between the inner and outer case it stops the lid from pressing all the way down and deactivating the lockout, simply use a knife upside down to clean out the coffee from the well and it should work again!
Thank you so much. i decided to buy new machine before watching your video. it is 20 years old and still working. becouse of you. I'm very happy. Again thank you very much
Take out the Button and put everything together again. Take a wine cork cut it to the size of the button hole. Put it in end press gently. Your grinder is working again.
Thanks for the video. That said my next tip is I happen to have a little push button "try me" switch that came with some stupid battery operated Christmas toy or something. Work perfectly
Thanks to you, Alexis. I made this with a spring switch. Merci à to Alexis J'ai fait ça avec un bouton poussoir. C'est parfait. Not thanks to Krups. Pas merci à Krups.
Many thanks! I’m going to 3D print a big “button” to press the micro switch, I’ll resort to your method if that doesn’t work.... until then I’ll use a chop stick... don’t like poking fingers about when there’s electricity.
Merci pour le tuto. J'ai gardé le bouton. Un peu de colle et surtout 2 rondelles pour renforcer. La temporisation ne doit plus fonctionner avec interrupteur on/off?!
I disassembled the grinder, but when I mounted it again, the grind position wheel was not staying at a fix point (it moves when the machine is grinding, changing the grinding configuation randomly due to the vibration). Any idea on how to fix it? Thanks
Set the grinder to coarse, then insert the grinder & push gently downwards whilst turning it anticlockwise. You will feel it slot into its locked position. To remove, turn clockwise & you'll feel it unlock from the body.
What are the specs on the toggle switch you used ? What connectors to solder onto the toggle switch ?Im set in EU 240volts - what to look out for when I buy the switch and when I try to solder it onto the grinder ?
Great info about how to repair the grinder. Have anyone noticed if the grinder is little warmer on one side all the time? I think mine also slightly warm on one side. Bought it used, used it for years. Just opened it after main switch button broke. Didn't see any other issues inside.
Very useful, thanks. Unfortunately mine switches on but just for a second, irrespectively of the settings. I opened it, cleaned it using a product for electronic circuitry, but no result. Any idea? Thanks again.
La VF est que mon moulin ne se met en fonctionnement qu'une seconde, quelque soit le réglage et le démontage et nettoyage au nettoyant à contact n'a rien donné. Une idée ? Merci
Thanks, I couldn’t work out how to get the grinder apart. Your video helped a lot.
Many thanks for the vid. Took apart and now using a pencil to hit the switch. Four hours late but coffee is served. Thanks
Thank you Alexis! Fixed mine, used a plastic tab from a bag of bread to re-mount the button, fit suspiciously well. Wouldn't have gotten in there without this video!

Thank you! Just watched this video, and fixed my grinder's broken switch. Much appreciated.
Thanks! Helped our tiny office a bunch with this :) We glued the plastic and reinforced it with a small plastic piece too.
Great video Alexis, helped me extend the life of our Krups grinder.
This is amazing! Thank you so much - We did this today and it works again and one less thing goes to landfill - thank you!!!
Thank you very much! I wouldn't be able to open it without your video.
Instead of using an other button, I fixed the broken one with a cut plastic card and some adhesive tape.
I have just the same problem, now with your help I'll fix it. Thanks!
You are the man!
Your video helped me to fix my grinder here in Brazil
Thx this hgelped me fix the same issue. Myself I simply taped the button back in place. Good enough.
Thanks for the disassembly tips. Fixed my button with epoxy and good as new now.
Thanks a lot for this video. I had the same problem, now it fixed.
+Gabor NAGY thanks :)
This helped me a lot. I fixed my switch slightly differently. I put unscrewed the switch attachment and taped the two pieces together with duct tape, then screwed it back in. Seems to be working ok. I don;t have Alexis' skills to fix it more professionally.
The important thing is that it works!! Thank for comment!!
That's what I did - I should have read further, then I'd have seen your post.
Thaaanks!!! Fixed mine with your help
Gracias por vídeo, muy ilustrativo y práctico! Saludos desde Peru
Salut Alexis ! merci d'avoir pris le temps de nous aider .....je vais essayer
Thanks for the video. Managed to open the case!

Ernst Madsen thank you and good coffee :)
Excellent, and following the 'wire loop' tip below I didn't have to go find a new switch either... off for a nice cup of coffee now...
Même problème sur ma machine, super vidéo! J'ai réparé la petite patte en plastique en collant une rondelle avec de la glue ;-) MERCI
Bien fait ! Merci pour les instructions.
grazie, non riuscivo a smontarlo, adesso è tutto chiaro
Thank you for this video, help me a lot

Hola: ¿Me podrías decir dónde comprar un interruptor? Tengo el mismo problema. Gracias
Спасибо, добрый человек:)
Thanks, great video
Thanks for breakdown tip - lucky to only fix orig switch with glue
My button fell inside as well...thanks for the video to take it apart but I just took the button out and use a toothpick to press the button lol...
Thanks for this comment! I took my button out as well because idk how to solder. I just poke through the hole now 😆
Moral of this is never throw anything away until UA-cam has been checked. Grinders cost about $40 - 50. And besides, I'm always looking for something to do.

i decided to buy new machine before watching your video. it is 20 years old and still working. becouse of you. I'm very happy.

Temel Kerimoğlu cool thank :)
Thank you so much for showing us how to disassemble! Very useful video :)
Thanks a lot, very helpfull
Take out the Button and put everything together again. Take a wine cork cut it to the size of the button hole. Put it in end press gently. Your grinder is working again.
Thanks. Mine has very weak solder points on circuit board causing to loose connection. Now working again.
Thank you very much!
Great video, thank you!
P.S So many people with the same problem!
Shame on you KRUPS, I will never buy you again!
great video, problem solved
Thanks so much. was struggling to figure out how to get shell off. Should have been better design given the $$ to purchase.
Tanks for your help. I used a mouse switch botton tô fix mine.
Thanks for the video.
That said my next tip is I happen to have a little push button "try me" switch that came with some stupid battery operated Christmas toy or something. Work perfectly
THANK YOU!!!
thank you a lot i hawe fixt mine when i open it :D
Thank you! I wonder how you got the hole in the plastic?
Thanks to you, Alexis. I made this with a spring switch.
Merci à to Alexis J'ai fait ça avec un bouton poussoir. C'est parfait.
Not thanks to Krups.
Pas merci à Krups.
THANK YOU
How do you take that inside part out!!!??
Many thanks! I’m going to 3D print a big “button” to press the micro switch, I’ll resort to your method if that doesn’t work.... until then I’ll use a chop stick... don’t like poking fingers about when there’s electricity.
Merci pour le tuto. J'ai gardé le bouton. Un peu de colle et surtout 2 rondelles pour renforcer. La temporisation ne doit plus fonctionner avec interrupteur on/off?!
Merci, I bypassed the two little safety switches on mine, they are very finicky.
Vincent Swanepoel can you do that by taking the switches off and connecting the wires?
Thank you
I disassembled the grinder, but when I mounted it again, the grind position wheel was not staying at a fix point (it moves when the machine is grinding, changing the grinding configuation randomly due to the vibration).
I was wondering the same thing - is it a high voltage or low voltage switch?
Great guide. My gvx2 just grinds for 3 sec and turns off. Any hints what to look for, switches are not a problem. Tnx
Double check top cover and bottom cup switches. Make sure they click open and closed.
Hi, what is the value of big resistor R2?
Great info about how to repair the grinder.
Have anyone noticed if the grinder is little warmer on one side all the time?
I hooked up a powermeter and noticed that in stby it uses about 1w when it not is grinding, just connected.
This type of 'too'l should not use any power when not in use.
Maybee our is broken, but I'm not sure if it is like this on all in use.
I also noted that the PCB at R2, the big resistor, is little black.
I think mine also slightly warm on one side. Bought it used, used it for years. Just opened it after main switch button broke. Didn't see any other issues inside.
I have the same exact repair to make. What type/gauge of wire did you use? Thank you for this video!
hi gauge 24 or 28 or small is ok switch not draw big current!!take wire you have in stock aluminium or copper ;)
So any lamp cord or similar that I have laying around? That's great. Thanks again!
take care for not to big for hole circuit!!any wire with shield!!
Thanks for this Video. But the switch you put on.......isn´t that a normal on/off. The switch on the grinder is a spring switch ! ;)
Lars Gøndahl exact but two type work , thank
Ah.... there is no little spring! Is there always a little spring? (with the little white plastic piece "not to be lost")?
Hi, have you tried to modify the grinded bean size? because I want to make my grinded beans finer, since the finest setting is still too coarse
Shim under blade aluminium foil 🙂
@@caronalexis ah can u explain it more?? 😁😁😁
ua-cam.com/video/nduEn3j9WEg/v-deo.html not same grinder but same blade type
Work but for espresso not great! Grind quality is not good for real espresso machine
Makasih tutorialnya sangat bermanfaat
thanks
thanks m8
Have neither the tools nor the ability to do this, but I am impressed. Bummer Krups chose not to install a good switch to begin with.
thank you for comment!! Subscribe and like. find motivation for make another repair :)
Very useful, thanks. Unfortunately mine switches on but just for a second, irrespectively of the settings. I opened it, cleaned it using a product for electronic circuitry, but no result. Any idea? Thanks again.

I had the same problem. I fixed it changing the C1 capacitor (mine it was the 47K275V-X2) for a new one.
@@marcelorodacki1154 thanks a lot Marcelo, I will try, thats very kind of you
Hello, I want to order the same switch you are using. Can you provide the details? Ordering through digilink and there are many options :).
Thank you, I fixed mine some quick UV bond and adhesive band. I think it will work some time :-)
I used pistol for glue and repare the orig switch. 10 minuts:) Thanks...
