One of the most romantic scenes from the musical is when Maria and Captain von Trapp dance the Laendler together at the party - and begin to realize that they’re falling in love!
The Laendler is a traditional Austrian Folk Dance that has been popular since the 1700s.
We recreated the iconic scene from the film and a step-by-step tutorial so that you can learn the dance, too!

This was so beautiful.
I am 68 now. My mom an I went 14 times to the Movie to see it again.
When it came out on vhs I bought it.
But that was not the same as going to the mooie in a theater.
So than the movie came with Christmas every year so we went there always. I have so enjoy the time with my mom.
Than in '95 my husband and I immigrated to Canada.
My mom and all our family is still in The Netherlands.
Our youngest son did Balet from When he was 4 years old.
I am always happy to see you tubes from you both dancing.
Next month is our 48wedding anniversary. Still in love.

That was awesome! Sound of Music was my favorite movie too. I think I've seen it at least 50 times. This movie came out when I was in High School and at the time I was studying in P.R. We presented our version of the "Do Re Mi" song and actually won first prize. I'm 76 now and remember those times very well.

Oh how I love the Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella movie. I watch the that when I was a little girl and just loved it. Then one Christmas my husband surprised me with the video, I watch it often on even now. Love you both, you are awesome people. So happy for your future new precious baby boy. ❤

You guys are so beautiful! This has been my absolute favorite dance scene for over fifty years. Your teaching was so well done and easy-to-follow. I no longer have a partner to dance it with, but I'm going to share it with my son and his new wife. They're musicians and dancers and lovers. :-) As for me, I think one day I will dance this with Jesus in the New Jerusalem. So thanks for the instruction!

In my opinion one of the nicest dances ever. I learned this dance 45 years ago in a college folk dance class. I remember the instructor calling that triangle shape with the arms the 'little window'. Greetings from southern Alberta.
