Hi Julie, I tried your method on a thrifted dark green dresser to use in my kitchen. It worked out well. I used a cotton tablecloth, with Mod Podge, and I used a hot iron (no water) to heat set it. I painted the dresser first, then cut up my tablecloth for each drawer. I also used decoupage of some pages from a Woman’s Weekly magazine on the inside drawers, as one of the drawers I use for my roasting pans. I sanded the drawers after sealing & leaving overnight. They are silky soft! Love how it turned out! Thank you ever so much for sharing your tips on this process, I’ve referred ppl here to your page to try fabric on furniture for themselves!

I often wax over a sealer because the sealer might be too shiny and I prefer a more subtle look. The sealer for protection against wear and tear and the wax to make it glow. It works very well.

What a great tutorial... though disappointed in not seeing the finished piece. I love that fabric. Thanks a bunch. I enjoyed it so much.

I so agree about the lovely voice. Some how-to vids are ruined by harsh voices.

Thank you great tips, I have been wanting to try this but I was concerned about it looking rough and I wouldn't have been brave enough to sand myself. Now I am super keen to start.

It would have been nice if you had showed us the face of the drawer after you finished. The flat view doesn't really show much.

If a piece of furniture has curves on top is it harder to trim?

Thanks for ur inspiring video. I am living in a council property with very ugly kitchen worktops. I am goint to be doing a boho/retro kitchen & i am planning to fabric decoupage the countertops. The worktops are black but the fabric i am going to be using is a multicolour patchwork affect of mainley blues, yellow, limes & red. What colour would u suggest as a base coat before applying the fabric? Ur advise would be much appreciated please?

I would use the palest colour on the fabric if you wanted that to remain the same.

Hi Julie, I just wondered if you have ever used silk fabric on wooden furniture? I was thinking about using this for a small chest of drawers. Also I have looked furnishing fabrics but wondered if that would be too heavy? Thank you
