I like it, I tried buying that miner on release day. the website went down instantly and when it came back they were sold out. They will all run at 82 deg -That is the target temp as you saw in the debug page.
Regarding fan speed you can take it apart again and pull out the third PWM wire from the fan connectors, this way the fans will spin up to 100%. If the chip temperature is 82 and you get around the same on the heatsink/exhaust it means that the heat transfer from chips to the heatsink is good but the heatsink size or airflow is not enough. Or in the debug view I think there were some temperature-fan speed commands/rules so if those can be edited you could do it this way as well.
KA Box have high efficiency, but looks on the temperature it was make me think twice to buy it... I think we need a custom casing. Try to make a holes on both side and install new fan to exhaust the heat
Red Panda Mining 82* is the target temp for the KA Box, 84+* is considered overheating, for some reason chips for kaspa mining needs to run hotter than normal, but 82* is normal for the KA Box
A 4090 used to perform 2200mh/s at 290w on kaspa just one year ago! this one can make 1.15Ghz/s at 400w, it's hashrate of 520 x 4090s using less than 2 4090 power!! impressive how fast those miners develop! very interesting video! thanks for sharing!
00:13 ohhh seductive 07:19 jiezz cryse 15:40 the KA Box looks better made than the KS0 Pro but what the heck man. why can no one figure out thermal interface material.
Said it before, I'll say it again. The new KA Gold shell fire starter Thanks for the breakdown RPM cool to see their heatsink solution. Was actually thinking to create something similar for the Ks0 Pro by combining some flat copper plates and some Frankenstein combo...
Great teardown. Most of the Goldshell units run around 80 C because that's what their fan curve is set to keep them at. Would be nice if there was a manual fan control option in their UI especially since it is so easy to change the fans if you burn one out.
I think the KA box is sweet! EPIC intro! The manual literally said "Have troubles? Don't dissassemble!" lol But I love that you took it apart, very cool to see this lil miners guts
Nice review. I think it should have cost less than 1k USD for it to be viable for small home miners. The high temps are not a surprise, 400W is a lot for such a small heatsink.
Nice. I was thinking of getting some to use with unmineable to collect some other coins, one for each coin, but now I think ill pass. Good work with the analysis.
Why was there so much paste everywhere? Are they only available to the hardcore miners right now. That is cool with the debug tip, KMSG normally refers to kernel logs in Linux. What should the temperature be in your opinion, the KD BOX 2 runs at 78 c. Since target temp was showing 82 its right on the money at 82 and if they set for 82 if you were introduce more fans or shrouds that most likely would pull the fan speed down to get the temp back to its target.
I honestly believe that every miner and standard computing device has a purpose to bring profitability, but as we are *only about 100 years into (Computing Technology) in general, we as humans will continue to make unknown mistakes and upgrade or try to fix faults when they become known as a whole. Their design most likely created some sort of rattle or hum from the internals and the placement/amount of screw bolts created a diffuser for the sound emittance. I love every machine profitable or not. I think they lacked testing quality before they shipped it to you in my opinion. It seems the first generation of everything made nowadays lacks in all aspects in some way. Things from the prior generations were built with quality over quantity. It seems sometimes the market cuts corners in today's times. I hope everyone has a good year and is prosperous in their ventures!
My opinion about it is that its good for the power consumption but a bit risky to buy for people who mine with not a lot of miner. And you're crazy for opening those two miners right away!
low power asics are awesome but for what they charge they should have a little higher standard of quality. you shouldn't have to worry about overheating or melting plugs/connectors, repasting anything or buying additional accessories to keep it from burning itself up
Ok panda.. There actually is a way to change the fan speed on box miners. It doesn't always stay though. So once you are in the box miner settings click the miner tab on the left. After that under pool settings it will show the word Miner above the temperature monitor. Click the text that says Miner 10 times and fan settings will pop up.
That’s wild…. The MiniDoge 3 had crazy issues also. I always thought of goldshell as having some of the better quality standards. Until this past December when I got those MD3’s - I only had a problem ever with 1 goldshell miner and it was after it ran perfectly for 6 months. They must’ve changed their quality control practices or something OR are comfortable selling residentially geared box miners which I think of as entry-level that average temps that would cause my 3kW+ miners to shut down for safety. I supported goldshell for a long time but as a farm owner/reseller/asic service tech - I don’t think I’ll be actively working with this brand going forward.
I thought getting under a sundress feels good, but damn, having Panda opening a KS0 Pro is getting close to that. Opinion on KA box ? Magic china box. Feels more like a lottery miner. Put in on solo and forget about it. Also, its hot as hell
80C for a home miner is surely calling for trouble for a home mining box 😬 I did order two of them, and will be looking forward to meter box' cooling mod!!!
USA - The KA Box with a separate control card seems solid. I mean dual heatsinks top and bottom, two fans to cool it 1.2 TH hashrate ... However ... Price is out of reach but significantly more efficient than the KS0 Pro!
As always discovering ourselves, the secrets of mining. I see this box as a great product, for those whose budget, energy consumption level is limited and noise may be limiting when choosing.
It might run hot, but I still think it's an awesome little unit! I've been wanting a KS1, but they're never available. Plus the KA box is more efficient, and in a smaller package that can run on 120v, wifi to boot! Hopefully I'll be able to grab one if they restock before the price goes too crazy. A shroud kit would be awesome especially if later firmware allows overclocking.
Thats a hot box for sure. I love the idea of these small home miners but I feel their lifespan is super short compared to full sized asics which makes me reluctant to get one for myself
The KA Box looks cool and probbaly easy for a home miner to have at home. Sence its so small in size and wattage use and also so silent. Wattage compared to ths looks good aswell. Thanks for this RPM!
I think the KA Box may be a bit overpriced, but I also love that it's more than the KS1 hashrate, less power and is a GS BOX format. If you could actually get this thing, you could stack a bunch of them in the same space a KS1 fits. Thanks for showing us the guts! Also, could someone invent electronic devices that get COLDER the more they run! I could AC my house. I live in the South so there's not much need for the heat off these things!
I like on this Goldshell miner how the size is, low watts and not bad hash power compare to KS1. Anyway the temp what you measured are not right I think.
82c is really not bad, modern AMD CPU’s target over 90 degrees. They could target a bit lower to account for higher ambient temperature environments but it’s aimed at homes so maybe not a priority.
Mine runs the same temp 82. I’m running mine on 120v and it’s about 440watts at the wall. Going to try and make up some sort of 3d print to see if it helps with cooling. I’m happy with it!!!
The KA Box seems super efficient but Ive seen so many pictures of Goldshell Box miners melting the 6pin cables that I wouldnt feel safe running it at home x)
All my goldshell miners run about those temps. It seems pretty normal for them, so I dunno if it's anything to worry about. Although I do wish they'd allow fan control on the miners.
Devices that are ahead of the competition are always welcome, because then the competition makes better ones. So My opinion about new miner is positive. Greetings from Norway.
Thank you very much for the test and showing the hardware. I was looking to purchase this miner but now that it gets so hot I doubt that I will. Thank you once again.
Agreed, those temps need to come down. Shouldn't have to mod something brand new. Someone will print out a new shroud soon. Feeling a bit disappointed at the KA Box after this video. Thanks RedPanda!
Goldshell box miners run hot. I have a few mini doges they run at a 70C constant out of the box. I'm not even comfortable with that. I replaced the internal fans immediately
why the fan speed (RPM) is 2220 in your miner as per the specifications of the miner it was claimed that it has a fan speed of 4500 RPM may be that will be the problem of overheating
It's a nice home miner but the temps are a bit of an issue for me. I see fully electric saying 82C is normal but I think if I got one I would repaste it for peace of mind.
Wow… I have ordered one of this and everything looks great except for the high temps🥲 I did not expect that… We will have to figure out some external fan configuration.. at least I like that it is almost silent…
Well... I was planning on getting a KA Box... now maybe I'll just stick to accumulating KS0 pro's... Would be nice to win the hashrate for a day though!
KA Box seems to be a nice competitor to the ks1 however the launch was a bit of a disaster that was handled badly by Goldshell. Not sure if I would rather have this or 4 OC KS0
I agree, temps are way to warm for my liking. I wouldn't be comfortable running this with temps that high. It does have a great hashrate compared to the power it uses.
If compared in hs, the Iceriver KS1 is the choice but has a power advantage of 200 watts. If I have 5 of the Iceriver KS0 Pro then the hs is almost the same but the power is 100 watts more. The Goldshell KA Box is the winner if you take the comparison above... but... by the way and anyway the temperature is worrying, I suspect that within a week of mining it will catch fire, especially during the day when the weather is hot 🤣😂
Great video , mine is on the way, i will put extra cooling fan on it I olso have 2 ks1 , but those are screaming in my shed, onestly i am glad that the goldshel is so quiet , gretings from eu romania
Goldshell is very high price. Might as well get a full size asic s19k for under $2000. only thing ok about is the low noise and watts. But would like to have some kaspa. only have bitcoin miners..
105c on 3090ftw3 in the eth days, this thing running cool at 81c 🤷♂️. Goldshell needs to bring back the underclock feature on ALL their products, requests have fell on deaf ears.
The RPM Tangem is ready! redpanda.tangem.com/ use code RPM for 10% off! best way I store my crypto like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Kaspa and a ton more.
I like it, I tried buying that miner on release day. the website went down instantly and when it came back they were sold out. They will all run at 82 deg -That is the target temp as you saw in the debug page.

Lmao @Dj Mines just for you.
😂😂😂😂😂

KA box would be the best home miner but price is little bit in the high end :D Great video RPM
In it for the long game bro.
Said it before, I'll say it again.
The new KA Gold shell fire starter
Thanks for the breakdown RPM cool to see their heatsink solution. Was actually thinking to create something similar for the Ks0 Pro by combining some flat copper plates and some Frankenstein combo...
Looks like gold shell has another kaspa mining box. These boxes always need optimal cooling. Great review video. Keep it up. OntarioMiner Canada

would suggest that next time you do the teardown as a final step, so you can get true 'out of the box' performance
Why was there so much paste everywhere? Are they only available to the hardcore miners right now. That is cool with the debug tip, KMSG normally refers to kernel logs in Linux. Ill test that but I know in recent previous Goldshell models they have disabled that and in new firmwares too for other models
@@RedPandaMining Didn't know that I don't have any of the recent ones.

80C for a home miner is surely calling for trouble for a home mining box 😬 I did order two of them, and will be looking forward to meter box' cooling mod!!!
That is crazy that Goldshell sent out a box that gets that hot in average temps like that. Get some air moving through that thing!
Nice goldshell box. Efficiency for home miner is nice
CONGRATS BRO EMAIL ME CONTACT@REDPANDAMINING.COM WITH YOUR KASPA ADDRESS AND WHICH MINING POOL YOU WANT THE 24HOUR hashrate.
I think the KA box could be a great unit, I have used their miners before and they work well. I just wish it was a little less expensive
I got mine sent from IR to Australia the other day. Nice colour, seems hotter than the other black ones though
brand new Goldshell KA Box already pushing out that much heat .. extar fans is a must on this unit
I'd love to get a KA box, I just think the price is a lil too high at the moment. If the price goes down, I'll buy one
It might run hot, but I still think it's an awesome little unit! I've been wanting a KS1, but they're never available.

Goldshell box miners are super hot. They definitely need secondary fans. But I'd still like to have the KA Box. Awesome video RPM!
Did the power supply come with the miner or do I have to buy that sepeartely ?
All my goldshell miners run about those temps. It seems pretty normal for them, so I dunno if it's anything to worry about. Although I do wish they'd allow fan control on the miners.
Thanks RPM for the KA Box review.I think the price should be a tad lower and definitly needs better cooling.
I would suggest having a copper heatsink manufactured for it or at the least install copper shims for safety reasons and better thermal paste
I actually like the job that Goldshell did with this box. Might be tempted to buy one just based on the efficiency…if I can find one 😂
I gotta say, I like the physical format of these units vs the iceriver
It is definitely lower in watts than the og iceriver ks1. That seems hot but i would imagine a meterbox addon would make that go down to the 70s
I think the KA Box is cool, besides the temps, maybe a future firmware update will fix the target temp for the fans.
That KA box is warm. You could make some toast to go with the egg you cooked on the KS0 😂
Love the low wattage use, home friendly! :)A little steep price, but live the vid RPM!
The 6 pins for 400 watts is what worries me, already had a mini doge box burn the 6 pin up too..
Agreed, those temps need to come down. Shouldn't have to mod something brand new. Someone will print out a new shroud soon. Feeling a bit disappointed at the KA Box after this video. Thanks RedPanda!
I like that we have another cheaper option like the KSO Pro, but i dont like all the adjustments that have to be made.
Goldshell box miners run hot. I have a few mini doges they run at a 70C constant out of the box. I'm not even comfortable with that. I replaced the internal fans immediately

I love it he doesn't even hesitate to tear it apart lol, i prefer Asics like this because it can mine more than 1 coin on same algo!
Wow! That is very hot for stock firmware. It will definitely need additional cooling fans or a Goldshell firmware fan rpm increase and/or controller.
More efficient than the KS1 However, I would be concerned with the heat output of it. Almost sounds like the fans are undersized in terms of CFM.
It's a nice home miner but the temps are a bit of an issue for me. I see fully electric saying 82C is normal but I think if I got one I would repaste it for peace of mind.
I think the Goldshell box miners just run hot. I have 6 boxes (KDA, CKB, and one HS) and they all run 84c in my garage
Have to say that this one is a good looking miner, hope it keeps performing good over the time!
I believe in the 20 GPU rig build. Keep the vids coming rpm
Wow… I have ordered one of this and everything looks great except for the high temps🥲 I did not expect that… We will have to figure out some external fan configuration.. at least I like that it is almost silent…
It needs some direct fan blasted at those heatsinks. Hasrate is sick for this small box though
KA BOX is interesting for home miners but I hope the value keeps good after long time and not need to use stuff like that as a doorstop
Thanks for the tear down on this hot box!
There is one more "secret" in the goldshell webui and it for overclocking.
It even has a RPM setting i never played around with
Just use a push pull fan set up no need for 3d printing
KA miner looks great! looking to get one, once it is available again, that is.. Thanks for the teardown, hope mine won't go up in flames haha :)
I agree with most the price is a bit high but an awesome miner by the looks of it. Can the Target Temp not be changed?
i like the sound level for a descent hashrate for inhouse mining, but it can also be used as an air fryer :D
I really like the size profile of these goldshell boxes but seems like better cooling is a must though!
I agree, temps are way to warm for my liking. I wouldn't be comfortable running this with temps that high. It does have a great hashrate compared to the power it uses.
im very positive - ive been trying to get hold of one of those goldshell miners but they arent out yet :( i want to run it on solar system 😀
I'm looking to buy one..and while doing more research, I came across your video. Thanks for the teardown.. Seems like a pretty solid unit
For some reason I didnt realize their were asics that had wifi antennas. Thats cool. Makes sense for home miners.
KA BOX is a bit late into Kaspa mining game I guess if its mining rewards are decreasing every month
My KS1 doing 50 KAS a day and about to drop. This emissions schedule is too painful to justify additional miners.
Did you ever re-thermal paste? Any mods available yet?! I just got mine up and running. Would like solutions to keep it operating safely
KA box specs are amazing, price is a bit high in my opionion. Thanks for another great video RPM!
Great video , mine is on the way, i will put extra cooling fan on it
I olso have 2 ks1 , but those are screaming in my shed, onestly i am glad that the goldshel is so quiet , gretings from eu romania
Yep, still got the bubblegum paste on the KS0 Pro. That KA box is hot! Would love the 24 hr hashrate.
Just got my Kas edition today. I would totally buy one of those goldshell boxes. Im jealous. I like it.
The box looks awesome! I do not like that it gets so hot, I hope they will get a software update that can beef up the fan speed.
What pool are you mining to with the goldshell KA box? Mine is getting tons of hardware errors temp is 57 C any ideas???
Nice progression of ASIC future with the KA Box. To me it is the next level of hashrate for home miners.
I think the KA-Box is a great way to get into kaspa mining and is the only really logical way to mine kaspa
Nice Homeminer! The KA Box is perfect for low power mining and heating 👍🏻
