Our bloodhound Bruno is full of personality, loves going on walks, treats and he’s an amazing couch companion. They do need stimulation so he goes to doggy daycare to play with other dogs. He is 3 years old full of love and slobber and a truly beautiful animal. Love him to pieces ❤❤❤❤
Bloodhounds have the cutest wrinkled faces in the dog world. They are super sweet dogs. They do best in pairs or a pack than on their own in a family. One of my favorite breeds.
I laugh every time I think of bloodhounds.... My Hubby has a love/hate relationship with them. He loves dogs and thinks bloodhounds are beautiful but "hates" them because as a police officer, he has been literally dragged through mud, briers, thorns and gravel by one.... he said once they "catch a scent"... you just hang on for the ride!!!!
I’ve gotta agree with that , ours are just pets but they do drag me through anything, one of our pups went in to be search and rescue for the police in England, he’s very good at his job too , I wouldn’t have any other dog now ❤️
the vast majority of citizens have a love/hate relationship with cops. Bloodhounds aren’t the ones locking up people for weed or shooting at kids because they “feel threatened”. Bloodhounds>cops
One of my classmates' whose dad was a police officer, he's retired now, who had bloodhounds and felt the same way. He loved them because they were determined to follow a scent like no other dog but would drag you through hell or high water. He did respect their dedication and brought two in for us in elementary school for show and tell and we loved them
I had a bloodhound. I’d never have another one though. He was an adorable puppy…then he grew up. He was a nice dog, very friendly, but he definitely had his own agenda and that’s all be was concerned about. He was big and strong, drooled all over the place , his ears smelled horrible even with daily cleaning. He had a loud, deep bay that echoed like a freight train horn. He was the hardest dog to house break I’ve ever had. He wouldn’t stay out of the pool or any body of water he was around. He would even dive under the water. He loved kids though when he wasn’t busy not listening to anything you told him. Other than that he was a pretty good dog. He didn’t live very long. Just 7 years. Since him I’ve had beagles. I can’t say enough good things about beagles. They’re wonderful dogs.
Actually she never mentioned the fact that they’ve been around since 700AD in Belgium, originally bred by Belgian monks for hunting the wild boars , they actually get their name from it meaning pure bloodline, not because they can sniff out a trail of blood, even though they’re the best at that and only a bear has a better sense of smell , it’s got a further back history than she mentioned, they’re amazing ❤️ I’d always pick them now for my best friend, never known dogs with love, sensitivity and empathy like these dogs , they literally live for their owner ❤️
we love our bloodhound, and yes, most people have never seen one in person and they are even more impressive in real life...our guy stops traffic with his posture, ...it takes dedication to raise them and dont get grossed out with the slobber
Looking like a T-Rex in the first few seconds. These dogs are larger and far more powerful than I thought they were. This is bad of me to admit but true, I had an image of a bloodhound as being slow and seeming sleepy. I couldn't be more wrong obviously. Another great video too, thanks Animal Watch.
@@Burlykim13 I think there's something to that. I knew of that breed because of Roscoe's dog "Flash" on TV and I knew the Bloodhound had more German shepherd like coloring and was larger, I associated the Blood with the Bassett too much.
@@fifteenbyfive The bloodhound was used to create the Basset hound, so you're not wrong to connect them in your mind. The other breed that was used was a short legged hound from northern France (basset means low to the ground). The heaviness of the bloodhound combined with the short legs of a basset is what makes the basset hound so slow, which is useful for hunting on foot. Unfortunately, basset hounds that are bred as show and companion dogs are even slower and heavier than their working counterparts. There are a handful of basset breeds in France, that have been used for hunting on foot, they're all fairly quick and lively compared to the basset hound. The different basset breeds are not necessarily related to each other either, rather they are short legged varieties of various local hound breeds.
@@emmamemma4162 Thanks for the reply, I'm really being schooled here by you guys. One other thing that I think partially explains it is that the Bloodhound's sense of smell was always the focus re: that breed. They are so sweet and gentle they will love up who ever they are tracking when they find them. Like other hounds they live to work, and for them it is tracking.
A blood hound walked up to my cousins farm. The dog was shot , yes shot and emaciated. My cousin took him asap to a vet to be treated for his wounds. Took him in as his pet , named him "Bones". No one knew how this poor dog was shot . But it the dog knew where to go for help . My cousin has a large farm in KY . Bones lived for another 10yrs !! ❤️

Yes, it is a fact that they are seen as natures "baddies" so thank you for showing us a different side on their soft- nature when they don't feel threatened 👌
Bloodhounds are beautiful and amazing hounds. In the past used by criminals, police and hunters because of his sniffing and tracking ability. Can sniff any scent. Personally I have seen Bloodhound in the UK and is very beautiful dog

10:31 one of my favorite police dog videos is a bloodhound that track down a criminal and the criminal was in a water or a swamp or something, and the police were trying to ask the criminal questions but he was pinned down getting licked by the bloodhound. I've never seen them bite the criminal, but I have seen them just pin an lick the criminals all over, super excited like "I found you I found you I found you".😍😍😍😆 Unfortunately, hound dogs and hunting dogs scored the lowest on the international canine IQ test taken a few years ago. They are obnoxiously hard to train, but oh my goodness are they good cuddlers.
These are not toy dogs. A bloodhound is a very large, very powerful dog, easily weighing over 50 kg. Aside from their incredible sense of smell and tracking abilities, the bloodhound is the ATV of the dog world. They can handle nearly any terrain in their search for a person and their are tireless and fearless. They are also quite a handful as a pet.

I've always wanted a bloodhound, even though I come from a family of avid hunters I myself don't hunt but I was always in charge of handling the dogs we've had dmany hound breeds but never a bloodhound.
dunno if i like her or the dogs more. in different ways obviously. anyway happiness overload.
