By the time the higher rpm running small block has built power, the torque of the hemi has launched it out of the hole and the 4.10 gears are sending it down the line towards around 110 to 115 top speed. Black Ghost ran with slicks also. A small block is only going to gain after the quarter mile where its higher top end will take over. You CANNOT have out of the hole torque, low end acceleration AND top end with small blocks. You EITHER get low end grunt and massive launches with low top speed OR less thrust with higher top end. END of story!

There were lots of cars this Challenger would have beaten but no not competitive with the real fast crowd. They could get maybe mid 13 seconds on a track with a prepped surface. But the best street racers in Detroit back then were running in the 10 second range back then. This whole thing is a total SCAM. The car is real, but there is certainly nothing "legendary" about it. It is a beat up bone stock 1970 Hemi Challenger. It never won any street races, unless it was against something akin to a 350 Chevy Nova. It's all a complete joke. I can't believe Dodge (I mean Stellantis, Dodge is long gone), Hagerty, Mecum, MGM, and who knows who else, would get involved in something like this.

The Ghost would have been high 13s on it's best day and more like low 14s. Getting beat by 2 to 3 seconds on the drag strip is an embarrassment.
