The dragon tongue beans will be a family heirloom now. They came so well and easy to pick and tasted amazing fresh and then after being in the freezer for months we boiled them for dinner and oh my goodness, so delicious. Not stringy or tough at all! Delicious at every stage!

Everyone please remember to give a thumbs up for these nicely presented videos!! Giving a “thumbs up” helps the UA-cam algorithm understand that we enjoy this content and then will hopefully place these videos in others video feeds. Thus by us thumbs upping we can hopefully get more people interested in growing rare and wonderful items from Baker Creek. Just by a simple action we can try to help contribute to saving plant species!

I love, love, love Baker Creek Seeds but I could not get a single Mongolian Giant Sunflower seed to grow. I'm excited to try the Chinese spinach. It's interesting how so many popular plants are purple. Keep up the great work!

I definitely have that gorgeous grape tomato on my list now! If you're debating about Chinese Multi-colored spinach, so it! Looks like a gorgeous coleus and grows crazy fast, and it even works well in smoothies. Plus who doesn't love heat-tolerant greens? People complained of pests, but mine did fine with Neem and soap spray and knocking Japanese beetles into soapy water. It didn't need spraying that often. Dragon tongue bean is great too--great sweet and non-grassy taste and kept producing after being destroyed by leaf hoppers last year. Purple lady bok choy truly is gorgeous and super easy. It was so stunning last year that I wished I planted more.

The Chinese multicolor spinach wasn't the star of last year's garden, but it was best supporting actor everywhere it appeared. We had a historic drought in my area last year, and this variety was the only thing I had any luck growing after everything but cucumbers, okra, and sorghum had quit. It filled the space where other greens either bolted or died outright, and it's actually pretty tasty as sautéed greens similar to spinach, but be aware it will dye your dish pink.

I've had dragon tongue "wax" beans, they were a flat wax. I wasn't really impressed. Don't know if these are the same. I prefer Blue Lake stringless pole beans. You can eat them as a green been or a dry white bean. I seen a packet of McCaslan pole beans. Their dual use too, but kinds suck as a dry bean because they lose their skins that are a little tuff and they get mushy. They're also called lazy wife pole beans. I will stick with the heirloom Blue Lake stringless pole beans.

    • @hheathercakes

I used the squeeze method too! I found that they kept producing until the first light frost, at which point I pulled the remaining fruits and did the old brown paper bag trick to finish ripening them off. Good to the last bite, sweet and quite interesting in color too. Definitely going to try them again next season.

    • @RareSeedsBC

@@Lochness19 the purple nebula ones had a lot of small roots all over the carrot and held on to a lot of dirt so they were harder to clean and the flavor was weird too. Kinda chemicaly.
The grape tomatoes ripened weirdly. Like. They grew to fill size and just didnt ripen (in color or in softness) for over a month and by that time half of them were rotting inside while still green and hard on the outside.

Etymonline dot com defines and gives the root of the word as just the same that I gave. I can say no more, other than to say, you should avoid giving out words that do not jive with what you mean. Say, instead, gourmet. EVERYBODY knows what that means. Webster`s Dictionary, under gourmand, says, "greedy, a lover of good fare, greediness for food". No mention of discerning taste. Gourmet says "connoisseur of wine or food". Much closer to what you said. Just saying.
