    I have cauliflower and zucchini pickling in the fridge even as we speak! And "cauliflower Tetris" was my big chuckle for the day. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

    Just picked up a jar of sweet cauliflower at the local Mennonite store. Really good stuff. The brine wasn't too 'vinegary." Like pickled beets! I did see a few mustard seeds. The calorie count didn't seem to show too much sugar. Mystery I am determined to solve.

    I make great pickled red onions, using maple syrup. Do you think that would work instead of the white sugar? I don't keep that on hand.

      Might alter the flavor but sure. They are both just sugar really. Not a whole lot of nutrients in maple syrup but it does have an awesome flavor.

    Can you pickle parboiled cauliflower or just raw? Does pickling reduce gas. Cauliflower can be hard on stomach and digestive system.

      Not sure it would keep the crunch. Just an aside... any issues arise from your body converting to a higher fiber diet. Can take a few weeks for your microbiome in your gut to get there. Same with beans. Once you adjust, no more issues. Fiber is good for you.

    What do you mean by non-reactive pan?
    I have an aluminum saucepan and a large stainless steel pan. Can I use both?

    • @PlantBasedBistro
      @PlantBasedBistro  5 місяців тому

      Stainless is non reactive. Aluminum is not. It just means they don't react to many chemicals, or even acids in tomatoes and things like that.

    I ordered the ingredients from the links provided however the link for the plastic jars and lids are not to par with the quart size reflected in the video. They are 16 oz or half the size of the quart jars

    • @PlantBasedBistro

      The link says it’s for 16 ounce jars…

      There are 32 ounce ones on the same page though if you prefer that.

    What the difference between what you are doing and canned ?

    • @PlantBasedBistro
      @PlantBasedBistro  2 місяці тому

      Mostly the same, canning sets it up for preservation, ours is more of a keep it in the fridge type of thing.

    • @jadedeyes5286
      @jadedeyes5286 2 місяці тому

      @ so you could water bath it ? And for how long ?

    • @PlantBasedBistro
      @PlantBasedBistro  2 місяці тому

      @jadedeyes5286 you would have to look it up as we didn't do that so I really can't say. Canning is very specific in order to be safe.

    Oh question.
    Can I take cauliflower florets and put in a previous pickling solution? Or does it have to hot solution until refrigeration?

    Use care when purchasing the white granulated sugar as many supermarket brands are bleached with animal char. The packaging should say vegan. Love your videos. Just being an old busybody. 😊❤❤
