I decided to play StarCraft2, graduate college, get a job, get married and start a family, and I'm still halfway through the video
I cannot understand why this video doesn’t have millions of views 🤯 So much time and effort (and heart and soul) must have gone into this, and you deserve far more praise and credit. I salute you.
I jumped on this game towards the end of the Wings of Liberty era. It won me over so much that it was an easy decision to buy the Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void expansions when they released.
I think 1v1 multiplayer is the core of this game and my proudest achievement in gaming was my gradual climb from multiple seasons of bronze league to eventually topping out at platinum or diamond ranking. I would be remiss to say I didn't have a blast playing 2v2 and 3v3 with friends and playing a ton of custom games too though.
The campaigns are the most fun RTS campaigns ever. Each is a very solid length and is made up of distinct levels that showcase a ton of variety in gameplay. It really is the best RTS. Games these days are not as feature rich as this. I don't think we'll ever see something on quite this level again. Thanks for making a video to sing its praises and remind me of how much I love it.
Fantastic video Josh!!! I’m here from the future… Activision/Blizzard has been purchased by Microsoft… and.. they have said they are looking into bringing back StarCraft…
I used to take the manual of the first game and read it at school, and look at the artwork. I was very happy to hear about sc2 coming out, and throughly enjoyed playing, even losing 5 matches in a row in 1v1
In 1998 my cousin's goth boyfriend came to our house for a party. He asked my dad if he had the internet and if he could use it to install a game for me and my brother. He proceeded to download a pirate copy of Starcraft. How this was achieved at the time still blows my mind. This was the 90s people. The matrix didn't exist yet, but about a year later when I saw that movie I was like. Hey... That dude who put starcraft on dad's computer was a hacker. Anyway, it was obvious to me even at the time that this guy wasn't really great at talking with people, but he still obviously wanted to do something nice for some kids he had never met. That really resonated with me. Suffice to say, I don't remember that guy's name, but I remember being in awe and I thought starcraft was the coolest thing ever, something cool hacker dudes like. I have so many memories of SC but this was the first one.
>don't remember his name (anonymous)
>couldn't interact with people well
>hacker
My man, that wasn't your sister's boyfriend, that was the infamous hacker 4chan!
Unsung hero of the glory days
The Nova Campaign actually had the best story of the 2nd game!
Dude, this video convinced me to start playing starcraft, thank you, keep up the good work
I enjoyed this.
This video is criminally underrated.. Me also being a huge StarCraft II fan and dedicated player it makes me sad that videos like this about a trully amazing game that actually demands something from you has so little views. But it does not change the fact that this game also gave me as much as it gave you Joshua and I had great time watching this vid :) Cheers to you!
Great vid
Long format well written reviews? Sign me up great video man!
The fuck, this deserves even 100K views. This is great!
I loved bw as a kid and sc2 changed my life in my twenties and thirties. I play more fighting games these days but I still watch starcraft every single day. Thanks for this!
Edit - I always enjoyed sports, I'll still cheer for the Yankees or Knicks. But starcraft and now also fighting games have absolutely replaced sports for my day to day entertainment.
And the first SC is great as well!
Honestly Starcraft 2 was the last great Blizzard game, i love playing Starcraft, i love watching Starcraft, i love a moving my 200 zerglings into the objective, i love making an unbreakable wall with bunkers, engi bays, and siege tanks, and nothing beats warping in reinforcement behind enemy lines because that one probe made it.
Great video! The 1st game’s story was leaps and bounds better!
😂 I was already a full ass adult when SC 2 came out. The first one was my jam in middle school!
I like how Flash was introduced as just some guy who played brood war who now moved to StarCraft 2 and not the greatest StarCraft brood war player of all time. Hearing Flash described as an underdog elicited a genuine gut laugh out of me.
if it's thje hardest game - it';s debatable, but for sure on of.
I mean, u have quake, u have fighting games which are also very hard to get good at, you have sim racing - where players are literally on the level of elite pro racers, so yeah, gaming became so popular, that if u want to be like top level player, u need to sacrifice pretty much whole your life towards this goal.
Another very impressive gaming - are speedruns, where player fight for pixel perfect run, to the very miliseconds.
So there is a lot of very hard gaming going on :)
even the pro players r so nice and cool
love starcraft. ty for this, played that shit so much the disk busted inside my pc. still playing one of best games ever, you know your stuff life is the goat! you could talk for hours about how the sc modding scene created entire genres , i would assume most dont even know games like dota and among us are actually just aeon of strife and the thing brood war custom games lol it’s incredible!
StarCraft is so good, that is a national sport im Korea
Wings of liberty was my favorite game of all time. Lotv isn't fun for me. I just play open lobby WoL custom 1v1 now.
Used to love sc2 a lot. But the constant changes they made to balance etc stopped me from playing. Instead of being able to figure out new systems, perfecting builds the game forced you to do so on their pace instead of your own.
I much prefer the C&C style RTSes, particularly Generals. You can build anywhere, have no unit cap, and the strategies (and units) are far more varied.
Loved the video. Played to Masters in WoL. To diamond 1 in Hots and Lotv pretty much turned ladder into a fiesta. They messed up the balance big time and the what used to be high masters became low plat. The skill ceiling of the game went through the roof and from plain old fun it became something else. I'm still waiting for a good remaster of wc3 or wc2 even. - But nonetheless, your video was fantastic.
A harder game makes ladder a Fiesta to you? Hmm.
Broodwars better
