This game is a rollercoaster of emotions. Love, Hate, happy, sad, but I feel like if I hadn't played through it I would have missed something special. So I'm glad I played it. In the end I hated that I loved it. No regrets. Epic game.
It's a whirlwind you just have to get on and accept. It's impossible to predict where you'll end up by the end of it, but my advice is just to press on and let things unfold - even as bittersweet as this video's ending may have left you.
Looking forward to watching the rest, it’s good to see new playthroughs by people who weren’t influenced by the irrational hate campaign before and during launch. I’m sure by the end you’ll understand the game and appreciate the narrative and story they wanted to tell. It’s an amazing achievement in gaming on all fronts.
@@genesiscda4847 and I’m not saying everyone who disliked it is part of that campaign. Now, you can’t deny the hate campaign was there, it was driven by several UA-camrs even. You can dislike the game and criticize it fairly all you want, there’s valid criticism for it and I respect that, what I don’t respect is the opinion of those who let bigotry and intolerance get to them and become part of that hate campaign.
It is an intense, yet beautifully written story about the cost of our actions and where revenge leads us. You have all the same emotions that WE did playing it. You got this!
*MASSIVE SPOILER AHEAD* . . . . . I loved the game and I didn’t have a lot of issues with the story either. The story is relentless and doesn’t care that Joel was the main character in the previous game. What I don’t like is that Ellie chose to save Abby in the end. Don’t get me wrong, I kinda liked Abby and felt empathy for her. But that’s because we got to witness and play her story. Ellie has no idea whatsoever. The only thing she has seen is Abby bashing Joel’s head in. It makes very little sense that she would spare Abby after killing hundreds of people on the way there, only to stop just at the end. Naughty Dog trusts in themselves that they had compiled a good enough story so that ending would be acceptable and logical. I’m not entirely sure it was. If they didn’t want to outright kill Abby, what they should have done, (if they really believed in it) is to let the player choose in the end. That would put the trust in the player and I think would have impacted us even more, because we chose not to go through with it based on our experience. (Or we would have killed her based on our and Ellies experience. And that’s fine too.)

Obviously he makes mistakes and does immoral things, and he’s not perfect by any means. That being said, people like the soft side of him with Ellie. It’s how in a world full of violence and destruction, he was able to bring himself to love another person again. He didn’t just kill anyone he saw, he has helped people like Sam and Henry, he rescued Abby… etc. In a post apocalyptic world, people kill each-other for their own interests. Everyone’s trying to survive mate. Joel is a great father figure for Ellie and people love that side of him, as well as the relationship he has with Ellie and others. Hope this helped you to understand a little bit why he’s such a loved character.

He became hardened and uncaring for others after losing his daughter and learning to survive in a hostile world. But Ellie helped him change and see the world differently again. I honestly think that Joel and Arthur Morgan are the best fictional antiheroes I’ve ever got to play as in a game.
To whomever will read this, except Ray :-) the way all the characters, main and side, "act" in the scene where Joel reveals his name, is so well made, the nuances in their behaviours and body language is totally in line with their motivations/backstory as we discover about later. Amazing what motion capture can do these days. This is a very well made/well directed scene.
This game is among the most beautiful I have ever played. This is an emotionally challenging game. Moments will make you feel sick but what you’ll come to appreciate, and the feelings you will experience, will be among the best and most meaningful you may ever have. You can say TLOU2 has a cheap manipulation or I can say AoT has a cheap manipulation, it just matters from which side you’re seeing things. Ive played Part 1 so many times.. because I loved the main character Joel. So this was hard.. I still don’t know.. but I did have a hell of a time (emotionally speaking)

Really glad you're playing this game - it's probably the best game I've personally ever played (note: I will probably not play it againi for a year or so). Some notes that might help you (non-spoiler of course): - Take your time and explore. This game is jam-packed with detail and mini stories told though notes etc. - you can tell how much care and love Naughty Dog put into this game. Dont feel the need to rush along simply because it's supposed to be a lets play. - Take breaks. At certain points the game became a bit too much for me. Putting it down for a day or two helped a great deal - make sure to give the experience time to breath and come to terms with what happened. This game throws stuff at you in terms of "difficulty" that no game I've previously played has.
For me The Last of Us Part 2 was an absolute masterpiece it is a very emotional game. For me Joel's death play a major part in the game storyline. Yes I was absolutely sad and furious when Abby did that took me a while to get over it but I got over it finished the game and I loved the game so much it was a masterpiece. I believe they had to bring in that emotional shock in the game for losing Joel he has made some terrible choices in his life. This game comes with a valuable lesson.
I've never been jealous of a PS4 game. I've never seen this cool graphic on PC before. These facial animations are just the hottest shit! "Unbelievable what you could get out of the PS4."
I'm NOT a gamer, though I still have my old PS3 from when my daughter and I would play Tomb Raider, Heavenly Sword, and Resident Evil back in the day, so I have been trying to get through the original 'The Last Of Us' for the past few recent weeks. . What makes me sad is that since 2013 when the first came out I have watched the walkthrough to quite a few games, but what Neil Druckmann created with TLOU for me is not a video game. It has been a gripping and heart-wrenching interactive novel that I have watched more than a dozen gamers play from start to finish. Some of them took over 20 hours to make it through just Part One. (which I absolutely loved that masterpiece!) , Yet I have watched even more people play Part 2 and though some did not like it compared to the first one, I loved it even more than the first. Personally, I do not have a huge passion for first person shooters that get so amped up at shooting and killing with no signs of remorse but what I have an even more distaste for is that all-out bloodthirsty-vengeance that we watched both Abby and Ellie experience. . Watching that coaxed almost as many tears out of me because not once does the person we are seeing through the eyes of, stop and imagine for one second why that enemy they are fighting so hard to bludgent or shoot to death do what they did , which is what made me want to travel down that exact same path and do myself!?! . It bothers me that playing the game is keeping my focus on winning the battle at hand and not making me as emotional as watching walk-throughs and experiencing the emotions the gamers share with us. . Then again, I'm just an old guy that admits I am no gamer!
I'm watching you play because I was too angry when this game came out. I had seen the spoilers. My Joel & Ellie world ended with them standing above Tommy's town. And there, they live happily ever after.
I'm going to have to watch this in chunks as 3 hours a time is a bit long, but I'm glad to see by your early reactions you appear to have been able to avoid spoilers. Thought you might like to know that Mel in Abby's group is played by the same actress as Aloy in Horizon.
There seems to be something wrong with that clicker. I had the same problem. They're not supposed to see you, but every time I was in front of it, not in cover it would discover me every time.
Give this game a chance, no matter how it makes you feel. Such an amazing story with great characters and situations. And when you get to certain bigger, more exploration areas... explore! There are amazing scenes you can miss entirely if you just follow the main goal areas.
yes I second this, please don't be too nervous when exploration is offered (like those houses in the snow) ...not every part is scary, you will miss a lot of great items and story moments if you just fast play this game. btw you still missed checking a few houses I think, moments like this might happen a lot where you feel you've covered everything, it's good to double check at times.
Well, if it makes you feel any better, after watching this vod, I dreamt that Joel actually had a happily ever after. He said his goodbyes, and sailed off on a boat with a big smile on his face... it was almost weird lol.

Ive played Part 1 so many times.. because I loved the main character Joel. So this was hard.. I still don’t know.. but I did have a hell of a time (emotionally speaking)

Really glad you're playing this game - it's probably the best game I've personally ever played (note: I will probably not play it againi for a year or so).
Some notes that might help you (non-spoiler of course):
- Take your time and explore. This game is jam-packed with detail and mini stories told though notes etc. - you can tell how much care and love Naughty Dog put into this game. Dont feel the need to rush along simply because it's supposed to be a lets play.
- Take breaks. At certain points the game became a bit too much for me. Putting it down for a day or two helped a great deal - make sure to give the experience time to breath and come to terms with what happened. This game throws stuff at you in terms of "difficulty" that no game I've previously played has.
For me The Last of Us Part 2 was an absolute masterpiece it is a very emotional game. For me Joel's death play a major part in the game storyline. Yes I was absolutely sad and furious when Abby did that took me a while to get over it but I got over it finished the game and I loved the game so much it was a masterpiece. I believe they had to bring in that emotional shock in the game for losing Joel he has made some terrible choices in his life. This game comes with a valuable lesson.
No matter what happens, keep playing.

I'm NOT a gamer, though I still have my old PS3 from when my daughter and I would play Tomb Raider, Heavenly Sword, and Resident Evil back in the day, so I have been trying to get through the original 'The Last Of Us' for the past few recent weeks.

What makes me sad is that since 2013 when the first came out I have watched the walkthrough to quite a few games, but what Neil Druckmann created with TLOU for me is not a video game. It has been a gripping and heart-wrenching interactive novel that I have watched more than a dozen gamers play from start to finish. Some of them took over 20 hours to make it through just Part One. (which I absolutely loved that masterpiece!)

Yet I have watched even more people play Part 2 and though some did not like it compared to the first one, I loved it even more than the first. Personally, I do not have a huge passion for first person shooters that get so amped up at shooting and killing with no signs of remorse but what I have an even more distaste for is that all-out bloodthirsty-vengeance that we watched both Abby and Ellie experience.

Watching that coaxed almost as many tears out of me because not once does the person we are seeing through the eyes of, stop and imagine for one second why that enemy they are fighting so hard to bludgent or shoot to death do what they did , which is what made me want to travel down that exact same path and do myself!?!

It bothers me that playing the game is keeping my focus on winning the battle at hand and not making me as emotional as watching walk-throughs and experiencing the emotions the gamers share with us.

Then again, I'm just an old guy that admits I am no gamer!
I'm watching you play because I was too angry when this game came out. I had seen the spoilers. My Joel & Ellie world ended with them standing above Tommy's town. And there, they live happily ever after.
The feelings you get throughout this entire game is desperation and "it's not fair." It's exhausting. But, completely worth it.
Despite the start, that is a helluva game. Don't give up on it (I almost did).
I'm going to have to watch this in chunks as 3 hours a time is a bit long, but I'm glad to see by your early reactions you appear to have been able to avoid spoilers.
Thought you might like to know that Mel in Abby's group is played by the same actress as Aloy in Horizon.
There seems to be something wrong with that clicker. I had the same problem. They're not supposed to see you, but every time I was in front of it, not in cover it would discover me every time.
Sad you missed a lot of the stuff in Joels house. Hope you got to play it again.
Give this game a chance, no matter how it makes you feel. Such an amazing story with great characters and situations. And when you get to certain bigger, more exploration areas... explore! There are amazing scenes you can miss entirely if you just follow the main goal areas.
yes I second this, please don't be too nervous when exploration is offered (like those houses in the snow) ...not every part is scary, you will miss a lot of great items and story moments if you just fast play this game. btw you still missed checking a few houses I think, moments like this might happen a lot where you feel you've covered everything, it's good to double check at times.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, after watching this vod, I dreamt that Joel actually had a happily ever after. He said his goodbyes, and sailed off on a boat with a big smile on his face... it was almost weird lol.

Didn't bother me at all and I was pretty pissed off that so many so-called fans concluded gay=woke. Neil Druckman said that the gay backlash began as far back as Left Behind.
@Matthew Rendenm most of the playthrough i watch played the dlc, still they show their utmost dislike sometimes even disgust when ellie and dina kissed. it was sad. one male youtuber even said the kiss wasn’t necessary at all. like wtf?
