Randy, I have been looking forward to August for 11 months now! That's when I discovered the swim jig in 2023, and the "snapping or stroking" method. I was junk fishing last August, sweating my butt off from the bank and, I decided to tie on a swim jig. I was getting hung up in grass so, I started snapping it out to dislodge it. Voila, they started taking it! They took it on the fall half the time even though the fall was probably 2 feet. Sometimes after the snap I twitch it to make it look like it's injured and, the snap was their last gasp. The best part was, almost all of the fish were BIGGER FISH! It's a great technique in the heat of Summer because, you have to draw those reaction bites. They aren't really hungry or, most of them have eaten at night like you said. Also, if they are really tough to catch, I throw a Ned Rig. The Rapala Ned BLT is their favorite and for me has replaced the ZMan Finesse TRD as it stands better and is easier to rig. You have to slow down a bit and sometimes drag it but, the snapping off the bottom works here too! Draw those reaction bites or go home skunked. It works!
Just stumbled on your channel a few weeks ago and have been learning SO MUCH--I really appreciate you putting this content up man. Lots of gratitude coming to you from Michigan.
Yeah, we really appreciate you passing on some of your tips you've learned thru your many trips after the illusive largemouth! Please keep up the good work. Your response to the 'computer' game bass fishing with forward facing radar was "right on". Another good job by you and your friends! I live in Western KY not far from KY and Barkley Lakes just about a 30 min. drive from Reelfoot Lake. Holler if you're in the area and maybe we can try some of the best bass, blu-gill and crappie fishing in the Southeast part of our fine country. J B Pierce III.
Very different views; Matt @Tactical Bassin tells us to "embrace the suck" and go out during midday to catch big ones. Most anglers hit the water early or late, and a few at night where possible. Depends on your conditions, I think.
Im also curious what part of the country you are from. August baits in texas that are affective vs august baits in my waters north of hwy 8 in wisconsin im sure are much different. You should start generalizing a zone you are speaking about from south to north when speaking of these "working" methods.
When you say an 1/8 oz slip sinker are you talking about a pegged Texas bullet weight or an unpegged cylinder shaped weight? Saw a couple questions on depth below. Remember to stay above the thermocline in August.
Most lakes up here in Ny DONT have smallies -i think alot of people that arent from the north just assume all we fish for here is smallmouth. We deal with the same august and september problems as the rest of the country
I feel like you're talking about largemouth. The behaviours of smallmouth and largemouth are somewhat different. Where I fish it's usually smallmouth bass. Glacial lakes mostly. Whole different ballgame in water temperature preferences. Smallies will school up more. Though, of course, many of the lures and techniques cross over.
Water level is extremely low and looks awful. so hot these days. I use Dark sleeper, trick worm or senko , shallow or floating crankbait. I cast them where deep is 6fy to 8ft because of the water recede 3ft low. Not the same last year and year before last year. This month and next month is extremely difficult challenge.
Why is there never a video of you catching fish though ? All this talk from how many years ago cannot tell you how much more difficult it is than a black worm an dark sleeper Randy ( an I love the sleeper )
I have 2 levels of lures: primaries, new lures I bought, or, secondaries; lures found and refurbished that I will throw into the cover and not worry if I lose it. 2 kinds of investors in life, those that take low risks and those that take high risks. Make calculated risks if you want bet high.
If you want more viewers, GET OUT ON THE WATER. Everyone has opinions , you aren't going to grow your channel giving opinions. There are 1000 pros with UA-cam channels and most of them are on the water getting their rod bent. Have you ever seen a golf channel that someone giving golf tips from their truck? NO because golfers want to see someone demonstrate what they are telling you to do. A 30 handicap can sound like a pro if they know the terminology.
I had an old timer tell me he uses gummy worms… I’m going to try em, just wacky rig I guess🤷♂️ Please do a breakdown of Cochiti Lake in New Mexico, I’ll buy it ASAP.

How can you teach anyone nowadays wtf you are talking about without Randy? Thank you Randy!
what does your comment even mean?
@@stevet876 I means he rambles on from his house instead of actually showing his rod bent.

I will have to give the black worm a try
Sounds good for my Oklahoma water 😮
I got snagged 10 times looking at that crank bait🤣
Randy, would really like to see you on the water showing these techniques
Once he gets a boat, it’s guaranteed. 😅
@@GW-yz8fo Bull shit, he has had boats forever and how many videos have you seen that were on the water? 5?

Very good video I’m all in on the black worm. If I could only have one color it would be black. I have got to try the dark sleeper.

I'm trying to figure out how magically that crank bait crawls over laydowns and branches with those treble hooks🤔
Is it really that time specific ( August ) or prevailing conditions? Air temp, water temp, light, etc etc.
In florida you're either fishing off shore hydrilla or flipping/punching thick grass mats.

Late july that black worm was king. Really would like to fish that crank but 20 bucks for a crank when I'm fishing around so many weeds is risky

When you are talking about deep water, what depth are you referring to?
I'd like to know that too.

Do a night fishing video please
I'll try it at night. It's too hot here for day time.
I can't find that crankbait in stock anywhere 😂
Available on the 29th…www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_Super-Z_Z2_Crankbaits/descpage-MBSZ2.html?from=INTAG
I found that one a couple of weeks ago. On the bank!
@randyblaukatintuitive That's the End of August that defeats the purpose Randy but thanks
I have to fish from the bank and I lose my lures 😮
I use a kayak and find a lot of lures
First tip is to fish at night time.
I was always afraid to throw a crankbait into cover, I always fished alongside of it. 🤷♂️ Thanks Randy!

I ain’t buying no more crank baits

February and September are my least favorite months to fish.
2 times ive had to sit through a Kamala advertisement. To watch your vids,1 more and i will unsubscribe and never be back.
I just reported the ad as false advertising and never seen it again

Texas(unpegged) rig with a 3,4/0 straight shank. That's what Randy would say
😉
