  • In the middle of a busy thoroughfare in Cavite, an unexpected brutalist housing for a corporation's employees stands in an attempt to make low cost housing sexy and sensual - affordable without compromising aesthetics or comfort. This 45sqm lot area and 62sqm floor area home cost PHP 1.1 million, a fraction of the cost of neighboring homes.

Please create more of these videos. It's refreshing to see Filipino architects and designers going beyond the usual house designs in the Philippines. Designers who articulate and embrace great philosophy and marry them with practicality and functionality.

I am a fan of Design Seed, Never Too Small but finally, a concept or content for Filipino viewers is here in the Philippines. I can live in a home as bare as that, but my concern is the moisture from its walls, but I presume the architect and the designer of the house has a solution for that type of aesthetics.

Been following those two channels also. I see your concern. I also thought of the openness of the house because it always rains in the Philippines. Especially the open bathroom. I would want the option to have it closed or open depending on the weather.

I guess the open bathroom is fine since you'll also get wet when taking a bath. Hehehe. But seriously, it is still ok with me to feel a different vibe, because ever since my whole life I am using a traditional enclosed T&B. Kaya lang, on "Ber" months it will surely feel much colder lalo na pag mahangin pa.

@@emongstar8768 yup. if you ask me parang pinag exsperimentuhan sya so this architect can be artsy. tignan mo naman yun may lababo sa labas sa tabi pa ng pinto sa tapat pa ng hagdan. may lababo pagkaakyat na pagkaakyat mo, lababo. ang labo. well muka namang masaya si kuya. too high art for a home if you ask me. I'm not even sure kuya shares the aesthetic sensibilities of the this architect. gaano kaya nya matatagalan yang ganyang minimalist na home tapos unfinished pa yung walls. I get that yun yung aesthetic pero I'm betting hindi nya matatagalan yan. mag pipintura rin yan. tapos mag dadagdag na ng kung ano anong gamit. in due time matatambakan yan ng sobrang daming gamit tapos wala na yung wabi sabi vision na yan.

Wow, this design is truly impressive! It exudes a wonderful minimalist aesthetic that I find quite appealing. However, I can't help but have some concerns regarding its suitability as a model for low-cost housing. At present, it appears quite bare, and considering the fact that many Filipinos tend to have an abundance of personal belongings in their homes, I'm not entirely sure if this design aligns with their typical usage patterns. I envision lots of monoblock chairs, Orocan drawers, and rice cookers placed on top of those drawers... you know, the usual Filipino household items. While I admire the artistic style that these talented architects have incorporated into this masterpiece, I can't help but wonder if they took into account the specific needs and preferences of the target market for this low-cost housing.

I'm glad I found this channel. Thanks for sharing this. The owner of the house talks about loving ownership and location, but doesn't say that he loves the house. In the next episode, you should show what became of a house that may not have asked people what they want or how they live. It might surprise you. At the very least, it will surely be brightly painted and partitioned for 4-5 kids, assuming they survive the stairs. I imagine this is better than "low cost" options, but developers can still do better.

im back again with this video after watching a bunch of architectural videos i noticed something...sa mga small lot / house very important yung position ng kitchen toilet stairs to maximamize the space...at sa mga small lot very important na may big sliding door na may courtyard..and windows ..(correct position too) why? because it make the house big saka for lighting and ventilation na rin.hindi nakakasufocate .tapos yyung courtyard dapat may mga greens kase sya ang nagpapacozy ng bahay at dapat high fence para may privary sa neighbor specially sa mga small lot na dikit dikit...at important din na hindi matingkad sa mga paint ng bahay beige or white or neutral colors it makes the house big too.. yung mga bahay na may ibat ibang kulay ng tiles, nagmumuka syang cheap talaga..at saka yung bahay na maraming bling bling masyadong nagpapacrowd sa look ng interior kaya nagmumukang masikip... minimalist as much as possible sa mga small houses.. iwasan ang mga sobrang kagamitan na nagpapacrowd ng place.. maganda mga built in cabinets for storages ..

I'm sorry but this is not Wabi-Sabi. Wabi-sabi celebrates `Honesty` and accepting the beauty and property of the material. The walls are not honest because it's a rendered hollow blocks pretending to be solid concrete. The walls should give a hint of the hollow blocks. Windows are plastic and out of proportion and Light is not celebrated inside the house. Natural sunlight should pierce through the depth of the building. It looks dark, damp, and cold. far from the warmth of Wabi-Sabi- I like the Isamu Noguchi Lamp though- Just saying.
