- Here is a comparison video of two very well know Fougeres. One a very affordable Lalique and the other quite an expensive Creed. I believe they share a lot and have a lot in common.
I LOVE BdP so naturally i am interested in the Lalique. Your knowledge is exceptional and a great educational video to boot.
Hey mate, thanks a lot for such high praise, delighted to have you stop by. You will really like the Lalique one as well. Both are such refined old school charm type scents mate, happy bunny smell this is to me :).
Pep, it is hard to capture this level of scent for the mature crowd @ this price. Also, the oakmoss is not so dominant it screams "dated".
You are right, and I should have mentioned that solid point in my review mate.
👍
I have been comming back to your older videos following up since first subscribing to you a few months ago. Your insight is truly inspiring.
Both of those are awesome! I’ll say this, BDP smells so natural with this pleasing lavender note. Lalique edp is close. The first 15 minutes are a tad off in quality, but the next 7 hours are a real treat to the nose
Indeed very well said Ibrahim.
Even though i love both, i tend to wear Lalique pour homme more often. Its slightly more modern and more pleasing to wear at least for me. Also there is something about it that its comforting to the soul. Nice video Ac.
Thank you mate, I am the same , i find it more modern and pleasant and very easy on the pocket :)
Lalique Lion Pour Homme is just superb. The fact it began in 1997 and is still as relevant for any real man today, is amazing. My go to for 20 years.
Blind bought the lalique after watching, absolute quality 😁😁.
Hey man thank you and I am truly glad you like it! makes it worthwhile doing these videos.
Smells Good 👍
AC you probably already know this by now but in case you didn't wanted to put it in here...so the reason Lalique bottles are so beautiful even though the scent is inexpensive is because Lalique is a French glassmaker, founded by renowned glassmaker and jeweller René Lalique in 1888.Lalique is best known for producing glass art, including perfume bottles, vases, and hood ornaments during the early twentieth century (Wikipedia ofcourse)
Lalique glassware or crystals are still some of the most coveted.
Indeed, I have mentioned it in a couple of my videos, I think it was Encre Noir videos :)
Hello AC. I have the Lalique and enjoy it very much. I tried BdP today in the store and it's fantastic, made me say 'wow' too! To me the Lalique is more soapy in the opening. Though my exploration of fragrances is recent, it seems I like 'old school' scents. Love Fougere's and green bitter smells which I think is a Chypre type as you said. Talking of old school, the one fragrance I did have years ago was Safari by Ralph Lauren so maybe I should revisit it! Did you try it? I remember wearing it once when visiting a friend and her cat tried really hard to mate with me Haha! Best compliment I've ever had with a fragrance! Thanks for the great video, very informative as usual. 👍
I always gain great knowledge 📚watching your videos! 📹 👀
Greatly Appreciated!
I am almost shocked that your reviews don't have more views, your passion is obvious.. This pencil shaving reputation is very exagerrated in my opinion. I very much enjoy Lalique White, it's quite fantastic for summer. Thanks for this interesting review. Do you think it's a blind buy candidate ?
I am as shocked as you :), but I am very happy with the subscribers and the views I have.. they are awesome people and I have a good chat on here, hopefully I will get more views in the future. Lalique White is just gorgeous for summer as you say.
I would never recommend a blind buy but let me help you with your decision, if you like green slightly spicy woody fragrance that has charm and is slightly grown up then you may want to pull the trigger, but if you don't like it you may end up hating me and my opinion, which I don't want :). There is also this odd sharp note of Red Cedar ( pencil shavings) that is slightly out of tune which may bother you but it goes away after a couple of hours... so see what you think.
well, I got it and I love it, beautiful scent, very smooth and comforting. Drydown is incredible. Can thank you enough mate. For the price, Lalique is a gem, fantastic quality and something you will never sniff elsewhere.
My friend, I am so delighted to hear this, makes doing reviews worthwhile. This Lalique is beautiful and least talked about ..... a true hidden gem and as you say, quality is amazing!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾As Usual. Your Knowledge Of Fragrance Second To None.
Thank you , glad you enjoyed :)
Very very informative review - thank you so much 👍🏽
Hi Rene, thanks for the kind words my friend and I am glad you liked it.
The quality of lalique pour homme is just crazy good. I never smell Portugal. I'm sure it's very good. However, with lalique I get beastly performance with 5/6 sprays. Good good video 👌
Thanks a lot bro, I can say thanks enough for the mazing support you give me, I owe you one mate! I have never tried more that 3-4 sprays of LPH but I will try it next time I put this on. Creed is good but superseded IMHO now..
We all are a team...many reviewers forget that. I missed Bella note, but I ordered amber mystic and jabyira by Nabeel. I am SURE they are excellent, and I will mention you suggested it to me.✌
Oh, with lalique, I do 2 sprays bare chest, 2 on neck and 1 to shirt or neck. That is for 6am to 8pm with no reapplying.. that is damn good. Also, I have equus and this one. I want the fawn head lalique, but it is Discontinued and pricey.
Thanks Chad! I hope you like it. You are right some reviewrs get into a bit of a slug fest ... we only do this to share our passion for scents. Its such a nice hobby, I am lucky to be a part of it.
how's the performance on the lalique ? mine turns into skin scent after an hour :(
Really enjoying these reviews very informed
Thank you , I am very pleased to hear you are enjoying the reviews :).
I think that Lalique gets a little too much play. Don't get me wrong, because I have several of their fragrances and enjoy them for what they are. Encre Noir in particular has been hyped to death. And when I first smelled it I thought there really might be something to it. But there really isn't. It is rather basic and simple, and while decent for about 30 USD it simply cannot stand up to power houses like Route du Vetiver from Maître Parfumeur et Gantier. Nor should anyone expect it to since the latter is in an entirely different league. And to my nose the same holds true for Lalique Pour Homme. It is a very nice scent for what it is. And it won't set you back a small fortune. But when I bought this one I have worn it maybe three or four times and haven't pulled for it in a very long time. Why not?? Well, because there are any number of fragrances in my cabinet in a similar vein that are higher quality and better blended, perform much better, and simply smell better. One really nice plus of Lalique fragrances is that you can over-spray with reckless abandon and not worry so much about how much money is flying out of your wallet every time you press the trigger.
Just got this today and it's really nice. Very good blind buy.
Its truly fabulous, specially in this weather :)
@@SmellsGoodfragrancereviews Got the Encre Noir L'extreme too which is really nice and have 'White' on the way. All such good value.
I have today got Lalique lion EDP 125 ml bottle.TO my nose it is almost similar to ARAMIS TUSCSNY UMO EDT.A classic fougere fragrance.
Also, as good as the opening is, BdP is an amazing drydown.
True, its through and through beautiful! and so is Lalique PH.
First lalique was on your right hand, than it was on your left.
What?
Im so upset brother I searched
Macy's , Dillards , Nordstroms , Saks 5th Ave , and Chanel boutique today no luck with Pour Monsieur even searched out YSL Pour Homme no dice ...This Lalique Pour Homme is a hit I just ordered Floris Elite great informative video
P.s. you sold me on Paul Sebastian
Wonderful Luca, I am glad you liked PS Fine Cologne, now you should try Sandalwood Cologne by Geo F Trumper :)
If you want to go for Pour Monsieur then please go for the EDP. If you search ebay you may get it :)
I am elated you liked LPH :)
Lalique is a masculine scent, with similar vibe to Bois du Portugal. If you buy it dont expect it to smell like Creed you will be disappointed. Lalique on it's own is a very nice fragrence.
Super great take AC! Thx for all awesome reviews,I do have the Chanel pour Monsier from 1955 and it is so awesome even this Lalique Pour Homme edp !But i don't have the Creed Bois Du Pottugal, but i got happy that these two are so a like:)thx mate!!!Have a great evening and upcoming week,All the best bro.cheers
Amir, thanks for the kind words and the amazing support bro, its a pleasure to create good quality videos because I know its gonns add value to your day mate, that what this is all about bro isn't it! The joy of sharing.
I love pour monsieur and Lalique as much as you do. Lalique also is slightly more interesting with that different sort of cedar in the middle isn't it?
Hey AC! Hope and wish you are having super weekend,That is true, thx for the share brother,i do like your videos a lot***,keep up the great work, yes i even do like Lalique a bit more,do have even Encre Noire edt+edp which i do like a lot as well.what i mean i do like this house a lot and you are right that lalique is a bit more intersting, thats why i do have one as a back-up too !All the best, cheers mate
Back up bottle lolz, I try not to because I currently have 250+. I have tried all 3 encre noire and loved them all mate. This fragrance though is so nice, you can wear it to any daytime occasion and it fits the bill.
That's me mate , if i do like a perfume a lot then i always get a back-up at least or two,i do have encre Noire all 3 + 1back up!!Honest i never said it to no one over here caz maybe gana be like a brag but to you bro,i currentley do have about 450 !! plus some back up,like Midnight in Paris i do have 125 ml + 5 bottles of 75ml as back-up.i just keep them as a fun . it is a joy as you mentioned it.did order a bottle of Balmain from the Swedish website(parfym.se) yesterday, they do like me there cas iam a retrun costumer in many years!!have a great eveing, all the best, and keep up the great work, cheers mate
Loved reading the message Amir, I have 250 + and I am sweating man! when will I wear them and you have 450 plus!!! hahahaha. Good on you mate. I have recently found something that borrows from Midnight in Paris and lasts longer than the EDT will review it shortly. Have a great evening mate and as always thanks for the fabulous support.
Fantastic review!!
Thank you buddy :)
Don't know the Lalique...but, Bois du Portugal is so sparkling, fresh and green, I Love it :-)
Great review brother !!!
Thank you Mohamed, I am delighted to see you enjoyed :)
Great review AC,
Haven’t tried any of those, they sound really good.
Talking of the smell of Pencil Shavings in Fragrances, I really get that in Bentley Absolute, any similarities to Lalique Pour Homme?.
Hi Jon, great to see you after a while, I missed not having you on my earlier videos, but great to have you back. The pencil shaving effects you are getting in Absolute is from Papyrus and Olibanum combine in the heart I presume. Here the smell is of pure Cedar with green top and spicy base, Lalique is greener and woodier than Absolute which is oriental woody and richer. I would wear LPH day time on a smart casual or formal and BA in the evening.
Thanks for your reply AC, Very Knowledgable as ever.
Did you try Bentley Intense edp?If so what did you think?
I do Look forward to your reviews but trying to ration myself on purchasing Fragrances, it’s so tempting when listening to your great descriptions in your videos.
Perhaps in the future you could do a Best Buy Review listing your favourite ‘Bang for the Buck
Fragrances in your collection. Keep up the great reviews AC, and thanks again.
Jon, no problems, its always a pleasure replying to queries, that is the best part of doing a review TBH. I will definitely take up on the idea of doing a great bang for buck list, I did for Autumn, unsure if you had a chance to check it out.
I did order a sample of Bentley Intense AND loved it! Manly, opulent and amazing performer. I am going to order a full bottle soon. Smells like the inside of an Old Bentley would.
I think you are doing the right thing by rationing, self descipline on spending is an art my friend. By the way, there is a cheaper way to enjoy Niche and that is through decants, I have tried this website so enclosing a link in case it interests you:
www.scentsamples.uk.com/
Smells Good Cheers Mate.
ORDERED LALIQUE POUR HOMME EDP 75 ML TODAY. LALIQUE POUR HOMME EQUSS NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO COVIS 19.Please do a review on lalique equss edp too
Love ur reviews.
Thank you my friend, I am glad you do :)
Nice comparison AC! I am fan of both BdP and Lalique but I would like to know what you think about Guerlain Heritage. Thanks!
Thanks for the lovely comment mate and i think very highly of heritage. I own the EDP version and absolutely adore it. i will review it very soon.
AND YES LALIQUE AL EXTREME AS YOU MENTIONED IN YOUR REVIEWS THAT IT MATURES WITH AGE IS ABSOLUTELY TRUEI HAVE BOTH LALIQUE SPORTS FOR SUMMERS AND AL EXTREME FOR WINTERS BOTH ARE FANTASTIC ORIGINALENCRE NOIR WAS NOT WEARABLE TO SOME EXTENT AND WAS STOLEN FROM MY SHOP
How is the projection on Bois du portugal? I bought Viking and the projection is almost non existent.. That's why Im afraid to pull the trigger in BdP :/
Please test it out Nicola as its quite an expensive purchase. On me the projection is for about 2 hrs and the longevity is also quite long , about 7 hours, which for Creed is quite high IMHO.
@@SmellsGoodfragrancereviews Thank you, 2 h sounds great! but would you say that people will notice the projection? Because with Viking it's so close to the skin from the start that people around me barely smells it..
I have both. They both are amazing but smell nothing alike. Of course BDP has a much better quality though. Lalique is way sweeter to my nose but still good.
Hey AC...nice take on this. I've seen lalique pour homme...may pick it up, based on your take. It's the edp version, right? Check out my last video...surprise for you!
Hey Ben thanks a lot bro, I will check your video in a minute and sorry for the late reply bro!. You will not regret this one ... its well worth it . Go for the EDP version and go heavy ( 6 sprays) will last you all day and you will smell amazing I promise you.
I am considering getting the Lalique soon. Do you recommend the EDP over the EDT?
Mate, I haven't tried the EDT TBH, I highly recommend the EDT though.
@@SmellsGoodfragrancereviews EDP or EDT? for closer BdP
Excellent video, subscribed! 🙂👌
Thank you my friend and much appreciate the sub :).
what is called the second one u picked
HELLO AC PLEASE SUGGEST A PATCHOULI FOR MEN FRAGRANCE WHICH HAS ONLY PATCHOULI NOTES THAT LAST LONG AND IN BUDGET E RMENGILDO ZEGNA JAVANESE PATCHOULI IS SAID TO BE VERY LONG LASTING BUT ITS TOO COSTLY HERE IN INDIA
Sunil, I would say try Molinard Patchouli, thats great
Nice job.
Subbed. 👍
Thank you mate, I am really glad you liked the video and very tankful for your subscription.
Hello mate I'm viewing this late I know. Where did you get your lalique bottle from? I've tried Notino, eBay, amazon (stupid prices), & allbeauty. All quite expensive. Maybe the prices just went up. ..
Hi mate, I got mine in 2015 for 19.00 I remember. It is currently on Notino for 29.59, so the prices are up. I may have got it while it might have been on Discount, but the current prices are not bad for 125 ml bottle EDP, I think.
Smells Good OK thanks for the fast reply.
Are there any good clones or alternatives to Creed Bois Du Portgual?
you just watched the video on a very good clone my friend :).
Smells Good i just smelled Lalique and I don't know why people aren't saying it is in the same family as Creed BdP?! Without doing a side by side, it clearly smells very similar to BdP. Wouldn't you agree?
Yes
Do PS or Lalique pour homme smell like old perfumes from the 80s?
Absolutely not... I wouldn't be recommending them otherwise :). Lalique is very close to the Creed but go for the EDP concentration.
No
Sir where are you?, please contact me , where ever you are hope you're safe and fine.
Lalique is very linear imo
Lalique PH smells rather synthetic and somewhat cloying to me...BdP is perfectly balanced and wearable. While I nor my wife cant stand the Lalique.
I didn't smell ANYTHING "Manly" AT ALL in Lalique Pour Homme. It smelled to me like 100% a woman's smelling fragrance. Worst purchase ever for a man imo.
They bottle the product CHEPLY confusing also not labeling them correctly. I suppose there is a reason it doesn't say "For Men" on the bottle. To each their own, but imho Lalique Pour Homme isn't worth even $2.
I won't buy anything from Lalique ever again I feel I got ripped of f $25 buying this womanly smelling fragrance.
I tired giving it to my 25yr old daughter she hated it even. Basically have to throw it in the trash or keep trying to give it to someone who might like it. My wife didn't mind the smell of it but she can't wear purfume sadly.
Anyways, if you want to smell "manly", then this isn't the one to buy for a man.
