The most affordable simple, easier to restore, they drive great, dependable . Best trucks ever
Idk about the affordable part🥴
But still those trucks are great in many ways
@@KingStepside well once was affordable, if you buy a restored one it's crazy expensive, if you buy a junk one to restore it's still expensive..
@@freedomisntfree2089 yea I just got a c20 for 4000 and most parts are 100$+
have spent close to 2000 on my truck but it goes for 10k rn and it dosent even have a clean carb. and the price of this truck is rising everyday
@@freedomisntfree2089 I found on with no engine the mf wanted 10k
I can totally relate to those every time I pull my square out...especially the part about people saying they knew someone who had one..or want one. Everybody whos had one always kicks themselves in the ass for getting rid of it.
I plan on getting one this following weekend. If I end up getting it I don't ever want to get rid of it.
Right!
How many times has someone asked if you wanted to sell it? For me, a lot.
@@johncooper9976 haha! Want to buy one, they knew somebody, etc
@@johncooper9976
Oh man, we have one just rotting in our yard and I’ve for some reason gotten an urge to fix it up a couple days ago. Maybe because I’ve walked past it and all of a sudden I’ve realized that square body’s look amazing. But a couple years ago some guy literally sat in front of our house for hours waiting for me and my dad to get home to ask if it’s for sale. He used to have one and totaled it driving it around a hill and rolling it. And offered a huge sum of money for that rust bucket… 30 grand maybe. He really wanted it and my dad declined. Really glad he did to.
my dad bought me an 84 c10 n i almost sold it im sure as hell happy i didnt
You can buy that truck, customize that truck, make that truck your own and still pay less than a new truck.
Yup, no doubt you can sell one modern vehicle part depending on what it is and buy probably five parts for the classic Chevy truck.
Love my 85 long bed 💯 #scottsdale
After 13 years of not having one, I got another one. Yes they do bring you right back... to the sound of the steel door close, to the smell of the interior, to the buzzer noise when you put the key on.
To the thin oversized steering wheel, the thin signal light lever and clicking sound...and not forgetting the smile you get when you take it down the road after years of not driving a squarebody Chevy’ or GMC ! 😀
#4 is absolutely right. i've got an ugly primer colored 83 c10 long bed, very obviously needs work, yet the amount of compliments i get is insane. mostly from people that don't even know its got a 454 in it. i absolutely love driving it, i literally cant wipe the smile off my face until i'm back in my modern daily
One of the best things to buy to improve these trucks is the Borgeson quick ratio steering box.
My 84 GMC squarebody is much nicer to drive now. I also changed all the tie rod ends, pitman arm, etc to all new Moog items.
right on mr shifter
Love square bodies! I have a 78 crew cab dually with a 5 speed, 454 big block. You dont get the "cool factor" with modern vehicles. Keep up the vids 👍
Look, feel, sound, cost, simplicity, they're just so sweet!!
I had a 1973 GMC P/U custom truck custom interior even had a dumping bed on it. This was before custom sport trucks were popular and it sure messed with people at Solo II autocross in the early 80s. It had a 350 4 bolt main Corvette engine in it, I put a overdrive transmission with a 3:1 first gear, lowered it slightly, put a handling package on it and a governor controlled limited slip differential with 3:07 gears. I absolutely loved that truck had it for 7 years.
I keep telling my father in law he needs to race this thing, I’m going to use this as evidence, thanks Mr. H!
Still a ton of square bodys out there. Run into quite a few in the wrecking yards.
I run into um at the light and the gas station where I live
Not anymore
@@terminatorx6766 they still hit the junkyards around here. You can look at all the ones I find in the yards. I have lots of videos on my channel
@@ClassicRideSociety whats the best way to find them?
Everytime I see a squarebody drive pass I say out loud even by self
" oh hey I have one of those
I had driven my dads 83 C-10 for the first time yesterday and let me tell you, I fell in love with it, he had been wanting to give it to me when I was older and I can see why, so glad he kept it
Oh sick I have an 83 c-10 aswell.
It has a 305 in it that’s locked up, 217,000 miles etc.
I found a guy to get me a 350 engine so I’m actually getting a new engine in it this weekend or next, so I’ll be able to drive it.
I was my grandpas truck, and then it became a shuttle truck, and then it was parked. But I’ll be able to drive it soon and I’m pumped
@@LDaniel_BDuce That's dope a hell man, they're strong and reliable trucks for sure. It's been over a year now that I have been driving it and it's given me no issues. I also found out more about my truck, it is actually an '82 step side with the silverado trim, the original engine was junk so my dad actually got a 350 crate motor back in 2016 so it pushes hard. Thinking about taking the original 3 speed auto out for a 4 speed manual, or a higher gear auto, not sure yet.
Best driving truck to this day and i stand by what i say i have a 87 Square body i havent done any modifications to the truck all stoke and shes an amazing driving truck
I just bought my first truck( im 15) its a 1970 c10 longbed for 1000 it runs with a 327 v8 but extremely rough, can wait for my parts to start rolling in
hey man i have a chevy 1983 bought it at 14 i’m 15 now
So you can sell it in a few years when some bonehead friend convinces you that you need a honda. The better option is to never let it go. There are plenty of guys in their 40's right now on their 15th vehicle and just wishing they could have their high-school pickup back. Put all that money into the pickup instead.
@@jasonhughes3587 yea I just got a c20 I’m 17 and I’m keeping it forever
I didn’t buy these trucks, they’ve just been in a sense inherited from my dad. He said whatever truck I restore of his I can keep. Which is a good thing, I learn a skill and get a truck out of it. (I’m 16)
Let’s see… what old trucks to we have…
1965 Chevy C60
1973 Ford F600
1983 Chevy Silverado C10
Unknown Chevy or GMC haven’t looked at the truck
GMC… Sierra Grande 15 I think…
I only know the years of the two bigger trucks that are old grain trucks, and the Silverado. The GMC has an engage able 4WD and the unknown truck has a fuel safe in the back.
But yea, I’ve had a blast so far working on the C60 and F600. Not in running shape yet, just done a bit here, a bit there, and painted the grill, bumper, and tow mirrors of the C60. But I am going to sink a lot of time into the Silverado as I don’t have a good daily driver yet.
@@LDaniel_BDuce that’s sweet man, i just turned 16 and I got the truck running perfect rn, I’m getting ready to get a new transmission and to change out the rear differential, and in a couple weeks I’m gonna cut the frame and put a c-notch kit on it. It’s been a blast, but definitely try to pick out your favorite truck and don’t half ass anything make it look good 👍
I had a good time restoring my 82, and I would be really bored without it just driving my modern cars lol
Yes sir…I have a 86 gmc square body long bed so cool
One of the greatest things is that it is comfortable. If you are a bigger guy, older trucks have the best fit.
I drove an 85 in high school, from 04 to 07, if I had only known what they'd be worth today.
I had an 85 c10 this same color in high school 00-03. Got it with 38k on it and regret selling it.
Yeah they worth a lot now
@@terminatorx6766 and their value will keep increasing specially if its a short bed since they are more rare than the long bed !
I have an 81 c10 and I love it
Still a dime a dozen from Mexico to canada. Get one
I grew up in Canada and learned to drive in a C10. My dad had an 86 Custom Deluxe long bed, straight 6, 3 on the tree tranny. No power steering. Just a plain jane truck that did everything. Hauled fire wood in the winter, hauled fruit in the summer, hauled rocks and bikes and everything else. My pops sold it for a Toyota Tundra in 2004 or so. I know I'll get a c10 when I retire just to bring back the memories of my childhood, driving around with my pops. Yeah, I miss the old truck.
Hell. Yeah. Brother. I have a LS swapped 73 SWB. You can't beat that smell an old carbureted SBC makes.
I’d love to know the set up you have. Size of wheels and what’s the drop in front and rear. I’ve got an 87 and that is exactly what I’d like it to look like. Thanks and great video.
I got an 83 Squarebody love it. Needs mechanical and body work tho.
You got it I have a 1985 👍🏻😀
I got a 1986 c10 silverado long bed automatic 2wd v8 for sale.
I’m restoring a 70 in the shop. Love these trucks!!!
ROFLMFAO ...yeah, owned my K10 since 1988 and won't sell it even though i yanked out part of the lift to go down from 38s to 33s!!! (...i'm too old for that shit...)
Nice truck. I got an 83 Chevy C10
My 1984 k10 was off the road for 24 years, the sbc fired right up and still runs great, they don’t make em like they used too
That's how it is with my bucket. I get people telling me it looks good or that they knew somebody with one back in the day. Mine's 1984 and has a long way to go
If you grew up in the 2000s this truck wasn’t a classic it was just an old beater or work truck haha. Cool truck though ! Coming from a Ford guy
My scottsdale doesn’t even run yet and I love it, still early in getting it fixed up, but so far am having a blast repairing it
Bought an '81 stepside a month ago. Getting deep into it at this point. All new interior first and then I'll move to the exterior/tires/wheels/paint. It's so much fun. You're correct when you say about people, "that's ok. They don't get it."
I’ve got a ‘80 custom deluxe that has been passed down since my great grandfather, no a/c is alright, I got used to it
just got a 1968 c10 swb for 675$ its rough, hope to have a nice patina driver by may!
A person should always have something to suck up all their extra money. An old C10 will do exactly that. But I do love them, and have one of my own. Peace and love to all!
The diesel your referring to is completely inaccurate. The lf9 Oldsmobile 350 diesel was only offered in the c10 from 78 to 81, and it was a diesel and always was a diesel but was moddled after the small block chevy. You can convert them to gas but it requires a lot of work. 85 would have been the 6.2l na Detroit diesel
I love these trucks, use to ride in one in the early 80s. My father had a blue square body, Plan to get one some day.
Number five is perfect for me bc i turn 16 next year and I'll be driving my dads 1984 chevy c10 and it needs some work since it has been sitting outside for 10 years i know i can fix it and it wont be crazy expensive to fox still costly but after a year or more we will have enough money to fix it and have it driving around again
I have an '86 silverado that, last yr,I put in my storage unit, because I bought a newer truck,to give it a rest. It's all original, down to all the emissions. I've had it since' 03,when it had 97000 miles on it. It now has 235000. I definitely want to keep it and get it restored. My daughter, whose 22,loves it and knows I'm gonna give it to her when the time comes, but doesn't know I'm about to get it restored. I want to have it restored, drive it out for her to see and tell her it's hers, after I enjoy it a lil while longer.
That's real cool of you, I have a 85 Scottsdale myself and I have had little girls with their mothers come up to me and ask if their mother can take a picture of her standing beside it. Driving it to the street rod nationals tomorrow in Tampa. Stay safe.
@@Chevy-cz9ge Sounds like you have a keeper like mine.....only ALOT nicer!😂 Unfortunately,I live up north where salt rules the roads in winter,so mines pretty rusty at this point. Not horrible, but bad enough. Before I put it in storage,I'd still have people ask if it was for sale. No chicks though🤔lol You stay safe as well my man and hope you had a good time!
Hello Neil. All I can say... Fantastic I know how you feel as I have a 1981 Chevy C10 V8 Diesel 5.7 Long Wheel Base going on 20 years now and Absolutly Love it.Thank You for Amazing Video
I had one back when. An 82, 350.
Nice simple truck. I wouldn't buy a new one today. Over complicated junk...
I'm going pick one up this weekend. Needs some work but couldn't pass up the deal. Do you have any recommendations on where to get parts for this truck. Its a 1986 Chevrolet c10 fleetside
Vary nice !! Whats the color ? And what kind of exhaust on it ?
i bought a my c10 as my first truck
I would put a 454 big block it would sound and handle amazing.
Too heavy. 383 stroker better
BBC torque all the way
Got an 83 I fixed up 350 in it rebuilt it’s a lot happier now 😁
Most comfortable trucks in existence. Period
True! That's why I plan on getting one. And you can still get anything you need for them brand-new if you have the money.
I have both a 75 c10 and a 77 k5 blazer, I love both of them, I love the fact that you can build it the way you want it and no 2 are ever the same,
Bryan Ortner I got a 73 c30 crew cab. Lobe it. Doing entire bodywork on it myself and it is coming up awesome. Love my truck.
getting one in England.
My Dad bought one brand new in '77 (with towing package and 454 V8), and used it to pull our camper trailer on vacations until around '92, then he sold it. I sure wish we still had it. But, there are several vehicles we had when I was a kid that I wish we still had; like the '49 Cadillac, the '63 Chevy station wagon, the '65 Chevelle, the '70 340 Dart, and of course the '77 C10. But, that's ok I guess. I bought an '05 Chevy cat eye short bed brand new, with 4.8 V8 and five speed stick, and I still have it and drive it to this day. I will never ever sell it, because I know that someday, it will also be "cool".
My friend had one in hs. His dad bought it new in 83...longbed will a camper. Gave it to him his Sr year in 87. Amazing how much of difference just removing the shell and tinting the windows did. I always told him to let me buy it if he ever decided trade in or sell but we lost touch after hs
I like my 1975 chevy k20 better don't know if I can go 2wd. I just have to much fun with my k20. I have a newer Chevy 350 th350 trans converted np203 and 4.88 gears lol sounds awesome on the highway.
Sweet Truck! I have an 81 chevy short bed like that that has been in the family since new. I'm slowly getting it fixed up although it is in really great shape as it sits. Could you give some info on how/where you got that leather covered dash?
I roll my window up just enough to hear what the person walking up to my truck at the gas station has to say. As soon as they ask if I'm selling, window goes all the way up, full eye contact, with a "you have a good, now" because 😐😑😐
CLEAN IS RIGHT
I have a 76 c10 i love my truck
I had a 85 blazer, best truck I ever owned, I wish I could get my hands on one of these 😂go back to a simple car again
I was just gifted this truck yesterday from my father. This is the first time I’ve ever really fell in love with any type of vehicle
I have a 81 c10 shortbed and i cant wait for it to be done (restoration)
You need a classic 1966 ford f100, Here’s why…
I’m a 19 year old college student and i bought a 84’ C10 last June. I’ve been thinking about selling due to a lack of time and money (mostly money). I daily drive my truck it’s been more worst time than good times, driving in the heat with no a/c or the first couple of times it broke down on me. I really wanna keep it but I’m losing motivation and this video just gave me the motivation I needed hopefully I will keep it and make it the dream truck I always wanted
Are you interested in selling ?
Corrado Pisani yes I am actually, well I’m trying to trade for another truck.
"Being a car guy is getting your hands dirty" Truest thing I've ever heard.
Cruisin the coast
Anyone else biting their lip a little at the idea of their Square Body?
Just got me one, '84, loots of work ahead😅💪
Anybody knows the paint code by chance 🥺?
🌏💫
I have a 93 Chev. pick up I call the Money Pit.
Thank you. Gr8 looking truck
is there a "things you hate" video by chance??
Worked on My 72 all weekend. Slowly but surely getting it back on the road it's great to actually drive it!
I've have had a C/10 or square ever since 1979...my first one was a 1973 swb square.in 1981 .i had a 6 cylinder Muncie 4 speed I was driving 60 miles to work...first with overdrive. 2nd one......so cool 1982 short bed.
there r video's on lmc trucks
Cool c 10 vid, dude. Thumbs up.
I can get a 1983 K10 for 9,500$ with 70k miles on a replaced 350 crate motor. Transmission(automatic) replaced in 2020
However, it does have:
Slow Transfer Case leak
&
Slow Rear Differential leak
Would this be a good pick up?
It would be my daily driver.
Miles on body unknown.
I want ct fletchers k30 so bad
At around 2:54 you say this used to be a diesel that was modified from a 350 gas engine. I'm pretty sure that's not true. I have a 1984 C20 with a 6.2 diesel which I bought in 1993. I made sure at the time they were not the diesels that GM had made from the gas engine blocks. Those turned out to be a disaster. The 6.2L diesel was designed from the ground up as a diesel & were the only diesels offered in Chevy's trucks in that timeframe. See this link for more detailed info...
www.hemmings.com/stories/2015/02/19/remember-when-oldsmobile-embraced-the-diesel-engine
I just bought one today.. Needs another motor, but I’m so excited to start my rebuild! Grew up with these trucks so it’s SPECIAL to me! Any suggestions on where to buy a box crate motor??
Personally I like the 68-72 c10 I got a 71 I love it and I respect square body fans, all give you that smirk when you crank it over
2:19 85? Gross! That wasn't cool in the 90's and 2000's
Just bought a 76 c10 with a crate 350 motor I think it’s 3 speed I haven’t checked haha and so far I’m having so much fun with it!
Got me a '75 c10 square body step side that me and my parents went halves on when I was in 5th grade. Me and my dad been working on it since. I get my license in a couple weeks and I can't wait to be rolling up to school in it
I have a 1979 c10 with a 327 Corvette engine and a 5 speed transmission in it and it’s a blast to drive down theme old back roads I have had it up to 130 mph with gas pedal to go bowtie till I die
What is the color code of the paint?
Where yall at? I noticed the Louisiana tag and inspection sticker. Im in St Mary. Could use some advice on restoration of this 86 c10 im working on.
My father in law has a ‘80 square body that’s been sitting in Mexico for 25 years. He gave it to me to restore. Starting in it next month
An older truck bops and hops around when you drive it, just like an chevy small block.
where’s the link to the front grill
where did you get that seat i want one
I have a 1983 c10 with sbc. Love the truck but thid vid is not to my liking.
I sold my c10 to my dad when my son was born. I put a lot into it. Now I'm trying to buy it back from him so I can have it for me and my song to restore when he's older.
Hey what that song called ??
The diesel in 85 was the 6.2
85 C10 sitting still! Threw a rod! 383 oil leak
I miss my truck 😭
what gauge is on your hood?
Appreciate another truck😂
Got an 84 myself, 350 w/.480 lift comp cam, few bells and whistles but mostly a thumper, very professional rattle can paint, done myself for rust deterrence until real paint job, all new interior, working on guage cluster, stock ride height for now. New big brakes, suspension, ect. Just a bit of surface rust at kick plates. Overall a great truck I drive to work and improve on the weekends. Turns heads all the time and it doesnt even have a mirror finish on it. Like you say, everyone relates to it and WISHES they had their old one back.
Ive got two! 66 and 74 ;)
