Learn how to use one of our live traps for snake trapping. In this clip, we set out a trap where someone thinks they've been seeing a copperhead. After making the proper set, we're able to catch a juvenile Copperhead snake and relocate it a more wild wetlands.
Nice Work I bought one of these traps a wile ago havent used it yet. But will soon to relocate some snakes.
I love SNAKES
They look pretty timid, but do vary per individual. I was squirrel hunting and walked around a copperhead so I wouldn't alarm the local woods with a 22 shot. I only got within 5 feet of a 30" copperhead and it suddenly started striking at me. After considering my son might walk by the same snake but not see it, I had to waste a 22 cartridge .
Exactly what it is. We have it listed on our site and it will help attract most any snake. Even if they aren't inclined to naturally feed on mice, the lure will at least pique their curiosity and many times get them to enter.
We're just outside Atlanta, GA. I've read where color will vary from region to region and hinge a bit on what the snakes are eating too but in general, the brown you see in this video is the color I've seen for copperheads from all around the southeast. I can't say I've seen more than 10 so it's a small sampling and maybe others have come across a wider range. But the banding is definitely omnipresent.
That was the most laid back snake I've ever seen! I've had Garter snakes act way more vicious!
Man I just spotted a Copperhead on my porch going down my steps. I'm in north-west, AR. They're pretty common here. A little too close for comfort, though ha. Very beatiful snake in person. Good vid man.
I love that you can relocate and release the Snakes with these things :)
Nice video! Although you rival Bobby Orr when you brought that snake hook out. Looked like you were having a good time stick handling that snake.
You are right. The correct term is venomous. I used to make a big deal of it too, but after being worn down by thousands of customers saying poisonous, I have started using the wrong term myself. I'll have to be more conscious of that.
It's a great way to preserve the natural habitat. It breaks my heart to see people just assume all snakes need to die.
Good on you for saving that beautiful animal and moving it to a more wild place! Too many people just kill copperheads and rattlers when they come in contact with civilization. (And more cheers for letting people know that playing with copperheads they find is a bad idea!)
what a beautifull snake
I'm 13 almost 14 last year in October 2days b4 Halloween I was bit by a copperhead it's not fun I was home at night with sandals on (stupid me) and i was in the middle of the road and wasn't paying attention and I stepped on a baby copperhead I had to go to the hospital in an ambulance and everything it sucks I was crutches for 3 weeks my foot was so swollen pls watch where you're going don't be like me 😂
Probably a Southern Water Snake. Water Snakes are generally longer and skinnier than Water Moccasins. And good job not killing them :) I saw a small Water Moccasin 3 years ago in a swamp on the Babcock Ranch in Florida.
Sounds to me like an Eastern hognose (Heterodon platyrhinos). Harmless. What did you do with it?
how much are the traps and how well do they work im a snake collector and that might be useful to catch copperheads
A lot of big equipment. They are made one at a time here in the USA, and are ready to be shipped any where in the world. We recently had some shipped to Africa for a university study.
I keep rabbits in a pen and tonight I discovered a copper head in the pen. Unfortunately I was not able to blow his head off before he got one of my rabbits. Is there anything I can use to repel snakes from my property?
As long as there are no snakes nesting on the property, you can use Snake Out along property borders/entrances to keep them from entering. Snake Out: www.bugspraycart.com/exempt/granule/snake-out
Those are the cutest frogs ever! I want one!
I hate Copperheads but that one really is beautiful. I also noticed that it never once tried biting the rod you poked it with, it seemed more concerned with getting away. The few I have seen in the wild were aggressive, tried to bite even when left alone, and refused to leave the area. What type of bait did you say you used other than frogs? I couldn't hear what you said. I have a infestation of garter snakes that I want rid of but not killed.
I've encountered about a half dozen copperheads in my life and every time they were concealed in fallen leaves or mulch.
South Caorlina has so much red sand I figured it would look like this fella. If you're near the Appalachain Mountains I've seen both darker ones. Their are several sub-species of Copperheads with Northen and Southern being the vast majority, and yes cloration varies in different areas/habitats. In Kentucky they are very hard to see since they blend in well with the ground color and leaves. Anti-venin is CroFab, but isn't used unless an Serious allergic reaction occurs after the bite.
We make this product here in the states and call it Snake Lure. But since we can ship it all over the world, it doesn't matter where you live if you want to get some. Just follow the link above to find it in our shopping cart. There you can order it using one of the cart buttons on the left if you're from the United States; use the button on the right side, bottom of the page, if you're ordering from abroad and need to have us ship to another country besides the United States.
Copperheads love cicadas. If you can catch a live cicada, it would probably make great bait for the snake.
That is a pretty specimen. And patient, too.
oh lol ive been confusing water snakes with copperheads lol
where did u buy that trap?
I have them around my house too.. Im about 30 miles north of Atlanta.. in Buford.
Buck Sellers A friend got bit after he sttped on one in the evening while we were hiking in the Red River Gorge. Copperheads are everywhere there, along with Timber Rattlesnakes if your lucky enough to see one.) Anyway my phone could Sat-Link 911 and I got ahold of the volunteer paramedics. We where just a mile and a half frorm the road. He didn't get to the hospital untill over 36 hours later. Just antibioics and Vicoden. It was the largest I've seen in the wild and he was bit five times.
I hadn't noticed the shaky hook until I you pointed it out. I think it is a little exaggerated because of the length of the hook. At the hand end it wasn't really moving much, other than from me talking. As for grabbing it and holding it behind the head... I'll leave that to you. Look forward to your video of that.
The copperhead doesn't even look aggressive. Plus I caught a Massasauga rattlesnake and he was really calm. Snakes are awesome!
Just curious about where you are...Lots of copperheads in my area in South Carolina but they are darker in color...Does color generally vary in different areas or does diet have anything to do with it as I've read where other species colors vary according to diet..thanks in advance,
Seeing this video made me think of the same incident you mentioned, so everyone before you buy a snake or any pet for that matter do research on the animal for its needs/care and as well as knowing what you are getting.
whats the opening song?
Can you suggest any specs for making a trap like this? It looks like a purse string design like a fish trap?
@coilstapped1622 That is the Eastern Copperhead... the differences are in the patterns... the Eastern has the Hershey kisses shape colorations/markings, which connect front and tail and break apart over the middle of the body, Western has the same markings but wider and not a defined colorchange in the pattern.. the Osage is a subspecies of the Western.. the Eastern pictured above is highly aggressive as a juvenile, but the older ones are (strike if they need to ) less aggressive.
I bet if you or someone in your family got bit by a copperhead you wouldn't feel so sad about them being shot.
Thanks. Many more to come.
how do you make the trap?
@QuattroStig We have them made for us privately so it's not a "brand" you can find at any local store.
got a fiddle back infestation,any ideas.house and 4x4
Is that snake territorial?
what kind of trap is that and where would i get it
Thanks
Gorgeous snake.
JUST MICE, is this some type of scent attractant?
Good informative video, Thanks for the information
good eating right there!
The only snake trap I use is a 12ga with no. 8 shot.
We caught one years ago, didn't know what it was, just that it lunged at us and wanted to bite. Awfully pretty snake me and my friends thought. Many years later we went through the reptile house at the zoo and found out it was one of these!!!! LOL! We were a bunch of dumb lucky bastards.
just wanted to point out that he said "poisonous" snakes are venomous not poisonous.
I'm not particularly bothered by them, but I would never release one of these in an area were people would be likely to come into contact with the snake. Non poisonous snakes on the other hand are great for rodent control.
We had a customer that had a Black Rat snake in his backyard for years, and a neighbor dispatched it. Now this customer has dozens of chipmunks tearing up his lawn and compromising his foundation. He is not happy.
Great video.
I haven't but some of our customers have. There isn't much of a rattlesnake population in Metro Atlanta.
Since I can't send a link here, I'll email how to get these from us.
whats the name of the snake lure your using i can't order it cz i am not from UK :/
Timber rattle snake is my fear at my house D:
Is there a nature-related reason (survival) for why babies are dark, and then lighten up as they grow older? Also, what percentage of copperheads survive long enough to become adults?
@ChromeGhost0219 Haha the other guy was blaming steve irwin, where did you come from?
THNX!! Here in SC we have a lot of copperheads and we live near a river and we sometimes see snake skins on our lawn so we might just try this. But where would i let it go? I dont wanna kill it!😁😒
There's a lot down here in NC too I have about 10 copperheads in my backyard because my stepdad was tilling the garden and a family of copperheads came crawling out of the garden.
Oo COOL!! (Awk moment cause I just randomly replied)
Got a big rattler under my shed what is just mice? Got to get him in AZ black canyon city help!!!!!
letsthinkitover1 Its a snake lure used to get snakes to enter a traps. You can order some here: Snake Lure: www.bugspraycart.com/traps/lure/snake-lure-4-oz
Great vid.
@usprayvideo Great video. There is a snake in my grandmas yard and I will attempt to catch it so it dosen't end up dead between my dog thats there and my grandma. I would like to see it live a long life.
@galbatorixx Depends on where you live. it could be a Northern or Southern Water Snake :)
Hey can I buy one from you?
What the hell is the difference between poison and venom?
I did send it and I would put the link here but UA-cam will just remove it. Check your "inbox"; it should be there now.
Good video.
We package a private label snake lure that can be used to attract the interest of most any snake including copperheads. Just follow the link above to our trap and on that page, there is a link to the lure. It works great and a little bit goes a long way for sure.
copperheads are in pennsylvania i live in pennsylvania and were i live there everywhere in the summer
You can. Since I can't send a link here, I'll send it to your user account.
@trogdorpontiac that only works while your on guard. Traps work 24/7.
I noticed that as well after filming. It is really exaggerated since I was holding the hook at one end and filming the other.
@cbr6864 dogs have some sort of resistance to it. my friend got bit by 1 and he almost died. my hunting dogs have been bit alot of times and they are just about perfectly fine.
@QuattroStig Like I said, we have them made for us. I'd post our product page but Google won't let me. I'll send it as a message..
ya the snake didn't do anything wrong at the moment, but they're dangerous to have around with small children or house pets roaming around.
Copperhead venom is good for you, lots of vitamins.
Will do; I'll send it now.
great to release the animal un-harmed. nice video.
@fivedollerfootlong lol,i dont touch the poisonis ones, just the ones you can keep as a pet
o wow that's cool...for a second I almost didn't see it and once I found it I didn't see the head right away
r copperheads venomous?
I really don't know how they're made; we sell them through the site that's shown in the video. And we sell the lure used too. Just call the toll free number shown in the video and we'll help.
i would like to buy 1 if possible send a link to may page
there are rarely ever any fatalities from copperheads
yes im sure the snakes been here for awhile and used to the kids and adults in its area
@fivedollerfootlong what other guy?
bottom line is it is definitely not more than likely that you would die from a copperhead bite unless you were really young, really old, or had an impairment to your person (heart condition, etc)
steve irwin almost killed me, after watching an episode of him wen i was like 13 i decided to walk around outside with a stick looking for snakes, all of a sudden i saw one fly past me it was a copperhead, went into long grass, i went after it and it turned around and lunged it reached my face they jump high as shit, to this day i dont want to ever touch a snake.
You will also notice how docile they are. It takes A LOT to piss off a Copperhead to the point where they will bite. I had one as a pet for a number of years and I handled the same as any of my non-venomous snakes and was never once bitten,
thanks,I will try it
you said poisonus in the video the right term is venomous. that is all thank u
he's shaking enough isn't he
i saw a 40 inches copperhead, they are veray agresive, i am not fear snakes thet much, but this one really makes me fell really scare, don't get to close to them they are dangerous.
Thanks!
i can catch any venom snake in usa but i use to hook or toug and take it into safety cage
@LMck111 Thanks bud, i find you amusing too :)
That color pattern is why i've never seen one I guess.
Sorry, I couldn't stay out there for an indefinite period of time to catch it actually crawling in. I thought that I explained how to use the trap pretty well, but if you have questions please call us at 800-877-7290 You can order the traps as well, or you can go to the website in the video.
u didnt answer my question
I was talking to 'thatboyofmystery'...that's why I said "sounds to me" and not
"looks to me", quit trolling and make sure you know what you're reading next time. bet you can't even tell apart a ribbon snake from a garter snake.
@trogdorpontiac Ignorance is so COOL!
