The Anglos built the industrial and financial strength of Montreal. The separatists DESTROYED all that. They contributed to the AMAZING GROWTH of.....TORONTO. Thank you, all you separatists ! Merci 1000 fois !
You are off topic, my friend. This is a report on the fortifications that existed in Montreal, during the time of the French regime and their dismantling under the English regime, between 1804 and 1817, in order to open the city to the river and its suburbs. The decline of Montreal as a metropolis of Canada began well before the advent of the sovereignist movement, to the benefit of Ontario and Toronto in particular. It is federal initiatives that are at the origin of this decline, such as the construction of the seaway on the St. Lawrence river to promote the port of Toronto in 1959, the Auto Pact in 1965 and many other initiatives of the federal government to weaken Quebec. If you have someone to blame, blame fractious federalists like you!
