When I saw the start of the last The Crew video, I thought to myself: ,,That doesn't look like The Crew". Well It really didn't because I only played it before the Wild Run update and they made it worse and less special to location
Yeah i didnt like that look after Wild Run. It looka ad bad as other games like to mod out visual effects from like Race Sricer Grid or Most Wanted 2005(all look worse and oddly empty with effects off) It also ruined night time racing as headlights are completely useless in post Wildrun graphics og game had the light actually illuminate atleast a bit of road ahead.
I really like when these retrospective style videos shine a light on communities keeping games alive, on that same topic, there's a community that does a similar thing with my favourite racing game, split second. They have a discord and play the game online even though the servers have been shut down for ages. I just love when people are so passionate about a game that they keep playing it even in spite of the studios that shut them down
Back before I had a proper PC that could handle anything more than Minecraft most of the gaming videos I watched were the crew. I loved the idea of taking a classic 60s muscle car and turning it into a monster off-road beast and then driving it from Miami to New York. Also Pro Street is the superior car festival aesthetic.
I really liked your video on The Crew. Your commentary paired with the footage made me feel like I was actually there, going on that road trip with you. It felt like an exploration, and felt like it really captured the vibe of the original game. I've never played it, but the unique character of the game and its community really shone through the footage. I can't describe why that is, but your viseo felt a lot less detached from the subject matter than a lot of gaming videos do.
What stings the most about how terrible Ubisoft can be nowadays is how GOOD they used to be. Amazing games, like Rayman, no longer have a place in today's games market. Everything (on consoles, at least) is all about greedy companies squeezing the blood from the corpses of dead franchises for the sake of money. The last modern Ubisoft game I even PLAYED, let alone enjoyed, was Shaun White Skateboarding. Another semi-obscure gem brushed off as a generic copycat, in this case that of the Skate games. It doesn't deseve that criticism at all. I can't even put into words how special it is. It's better than the buggy mess that is Skate 3, at least.
I think a previous commenter's sentiment about triple a games was correct, seems like the moment a company gets real big their quality plummets and they just stop caring about the customers AND developers that made them successful in the first place. Really unfortunate, and I wish things were different. There were so many special games that were either brushed off or taken out back old yeller style by their publishers and it hurts to see that.
Ubisoft has been going in an... odd direction lately with so many massive-scope titles that take years to finish. They do occasionally cook though - I hear the new Prince of Persia is much more focused.
Idea for positive content: Cover the expansive world of Livery creators for games like Forza and Gran Turismo. One guy named Stuci got so good, he started a thriving and successful, real world livery design business in Germany. Also photographers are interesting.
Hey, fantastic job on this video and the precious Crew video. We can really tell it was a giant labor of love, you captured that lighting in a bottle. Just want to wish you good luck with the channel. The algorithm is shining on you right now, you can do it!
Thanks. Honestly can't say I expected the video to pick up like it did, but I really hope it helps to generate more hype for the Crew Unlimited folks when the offline patch is ready
13:50 I swear Vegas was one of the coolest cities in TC1. I don't know how accurate it is but it still looks cool so I like it (Want to mention as well TC1 were one of the last AAA games in my opinion that kind of fit it's theme with the music and concept compared to the slop being released nowadays)
I grew up as a car kid Mostly played racing games and watched car related stuff The crew was a big part of my life,i remember seeing the amazing cgi teaser like a day after it released i was hyped about it,unfortunately i wasnt able to play the game till like 2019 when i got an xbox one S(i also had a disk for the xbox 360 but it didnt work) Seeing such a game, all of this dissapear out of the blue, its sad but also scary to think about Im certain that this def isnt the last case we will see this happen
Hah, I had to go and look for my comment 'cause I couldn't remember what I said back then! That's definitely one of the more unique ways someone has found me
i didnt even finished the story, i liked to drive around the map stoned, i wished we have a VR mode or a VR mod for this game, i hope someday we can get it back, this game wil be glorious with mods
I love the first The Crew. Ran through the entire game with a friend before it closed. Glad people are talking about the game and the terrible situation that happened to it. Thanks for the interesting videos.
Man I miss when games weren't afraid of *offending little timmy* and making a *good* game. And to think that ubisoft *killed* it to increase sales of TCM, makes it all the sadder. "We don't like the fact that people play the non-newest game in our franchise" - dumb ubisoft. Also, the reason why it got shutdown on _march 31st 2024_ is because march 31st is the end of Q1 of 2024. TC1 is the best crew game, TC2 is a TC1 from TEMU, and TCM is failure of a "the crew" game. I usually spent my time casually driving around in some of the cool cars I bought. In TC2, I did races to buy cool cars for... *the summit* AKA summit car FOMO. And now, with the 350z ultimate edition avaiable, and now gone, its only a matter of time until its TC2's turn. (if Stop Killing Games fails, which I doubt) Ubisoft. Hell as a company.
Now thats dedication to the video, having to delay it to go get some more ram so the program would stop crashing XD Good on you for moving forward on it, and delaying it so you can finish it This just shows how much you were getting dedicated to the video more and more the futher you went in I can't wait to see what you have planned for the future of your channel 🖖
I think in total I had 13 major crashes before I truly hit the ram wall - premiere thankfully had autosaves, and I've used Vegas for enough years that I habitually Ctrl-S after every single change.
Keep providing interesting stories for future videos. I never played the crew but I've watched the last couple videos more because of the presentation than the subject.
Yeah I've just started using premiere too for some of my hobby stuff. I thought I had a pretty good computer until the project got too big and it started lagging. I dont even try to use full screen playback anymore because it always locks me in it.
8:39 oh thats me lol but it just sucks I loved driving around my "state" in game or the mini recreation, not really any other game around that has that.
I remember a less mature version of myself being annoyed when Ubisoft announced The Crew. I thought it was crazy to waste time and money on par with an AC game to make a driving game when the whole genre was outdated. As far as I was concerned, racing games were now a component of other games like GTA. Still not my genre, but I have a wider perspective now.
Okay I have to ask - how did you know this. I am genuinely impressed - I haven't touched my account in basically a decade. There's a decent chance that's me, yes. It wasn't my name back then - I had to change it a few years back so now that currently is the name for my (very inactive) account.
@@GameRevo cuckooclock, right? If so we used to play all the time back then. I recently got into my account and read through my decade old messages for nostalgia and wanted to see if any of my old friends are still around. I'm inthe if you remember that name.
@@AGSD6 Oh wow, I do absolutely remember the name. Uh, good job tracking me down! ;p How's the game holding up after all this time? It looks, uhm, very different from what I remember, to put it lightly.
Yeah, I think it's a mix between the 360 version not always hitting a stable framerate, and my old terribly janky console recording setup. Guess I know what to save up for next...

Detroid has been making a quiet comeback. The sterotypes only fit certain arras these days.
That's great to hear! Maybe I'll go look into it a bit more

I've been subscriber for years exactly because I like your style, Revo. That Sleeping Dogs video? A thing of legends!
How to instantly win my favour - mention the Sleeping Dogs video. Thanks for sticking around!
I love the first The Crew. Ran through the entire game with a friend before it closed.

The only good thing about the shutdown is that it made me come back to The Crew one last time.
Man I miss when games weren't afraid of *offending little timmy* and making a *good* game. And to think that ubisoft *killed* it to increase sales of TCM, makes it all the sadder. "We don't like the fact that people play the non-newest game in our franchise" - dumb ubisoft.

Was not expecting a mention lmao
8:39 oh thats me lol but it just sucks I loved driving around my "state" in game or the mini recreation, not really any other game around that has that.
The main problem with The Crew and what killed it was it being online all the time.
