Rich, There are so many "personas" that could have been used as the voiceover to these great fights. Your voice fits perfectly, and the stories you tell are outstanding. I've learned a lot from your channel. Keep up the outstanding work!
@@RichtheFightHistorian I was a big Boom Boom Mancini fan. He was a throw back fighter. My last fight was against another throw back fighter. A guy named Arturo "Thunder" Gatti
I would like to thank you for posting this video. Ray is my cousin on his mother’s side as you can see I have her maiden last name, but when I was very young, he was also my idol. There are about 10 of his fights I have never seen. I can now check this one off the list. With his mom from NJ and later from the Upper West Side where she met Lenny Mancini, I’m sure Ray had a lot of family at this fight. Thank You Again!!
Good one on Norm, an early test in Howard Davis’ he’s’ career as you noted. Appreciate the Mancini highlights here as many of us followed him as a pro. Nicely m, nicely done!!
You're really pumping out the content, Rich. Like double jabs, and the old one-two, stick and move; every video you are making is a solid technique with precision timing. Thanks so much, for sharing your knowledge and talent with us. These classic fight clips are priceless. Many blessings to you, brother. ✝🥊🙏
Although I'm pretty familiar with Ray's career, judging by the short video length, I'm guessing the fight was a short one as well. Amazing that Kim was able stick with him for 14 rounds....crazy. Thanks for your diligent work, Rich. Yah Bless You All.
I remember this fight. A good win for Ray. But I remember seeing Goins' record in the old Ring Record book, I had to ask myself," who was matching this kid?" He had skill and started his career well. At one time, he was 16-0 with a no contest. Then they just threw him to the wolves. He was a good fighter with no connections. A real shame.
Hearing Norman fought Howard Davis and beat him I thought he would go a little farther Ray looked good. I always liked Howard I really thought he was going places but not to be. Maybe sometime if you got anything on him you could run it. Thanks Rich another great fighter enjoyed it
Thanks!
Norman Goins, was training at Atterberry Job Corps, In Indiana. Where boxing was taught, under Sarge Johnson.
Another excellent video, Rich! Hope you will create a bio video on Ray Boom Boom Mancini soon? Thanks again for producing such excellent content.
Probably not. There are two really good docs on Mancini and I don't think I can add anything more to his story.

Sure thing, Richard

Wow! Sweet historical fight!!!!!! I am a subscriber & very much enjoy your channel!! Keep up the good work!!👊😏👍
Thanks and welcome to the channel.
I grew up watching "Boom Boom" Mancini 👍..."Pops"#truschoolsports🥊🥊
Wow, these two look like middleweights.
Great lightweight. He used to push a log up a hill for conditioning. His ill fated Kim fight was one of the reasons bouts were moved down to 12 rds.
Mancini is a true legend but got wrongly treated for killing a Korean in the ring.

Agreed. He had some power and potential.
I seem to remember Goins being beaten by a British boxer in an amateur international bout?

Thanks, Ron. Yes, Davis is on the to do list.
