    Don't know why people hate on Lennox Lewis for, he was seriously avoided by a lot of opponents. Mike tyson refused to fight him in 1996 and vacated his WBC belt so he couldnt fight lennox lewis who was number 1 contender at the time. Riddick Bowe completely ducked lewis, he didnt want no part of him after the olympics. He fought Evander twice, having a highly controversial draw in their first fight and winning the second. Sure he was KO'ed by Mcall and rahman but he avenged both of those losses. I'm not saying he was the best heavyweight ever, i'm just saying he never gets the credit he deserves.

    • @CoronaJoe
      @CoronaJoe 9 років тому +7

      Not defending Bowe at all, as he did clearly avoid Lewis. However, that being said, I think it would have been a great fight myself. I think had they met in 1992, Bowe would have beaten Lewis. If you watch Lewis around that time, he was too awkward and high strung. He would swing for the fences too much, and be outboxed, perhaps even caught with something big, as Bowe could bang. The Lewis who fought Ruddock would have lost to the Bowe who fought Evander the first time. I wouldn't have bet much on it though.
      However, a mere few years later, after Lewis lost a couple of times, and worked more with Steward, he became a different fighter. Some may call it boring, but what it was, was extremely effective. He was much calmer, worked harder, was content to box more, behind the jab. He could still bang like a mac truck, but didn't rely on it as much. The Lewis who fought Morrison and Tyson would have beaten Bowe. It would have looked like the Bowe-Golota fights, except without the moronic low blows. Lewis would have worked him over, and possibly stopped him late.
      Career wise, Lewis ranks way ahead of Bowe though.

    • @CoronaJoe
      @CoronaJoe 9 років тому +1

      ***** I said some would call it boring, I didn't really find him too boring. Sure, there were some fights where I was kinda wanting more, could see where he could have ended them earlier. However, I enjoyed all of his fights, and was a big fan. I rank him #4 all time at heavyweight, so don't think of anything I said as a dis against him at all.
      Physically, I would have picked Bowe back then (speaking purely physically, you're right that Bowes mental state/ fear could have played into the result), but as I said, I wouldn't have bet much..lol. The later Lewis vs ANY version of Bowe, and I'm picking Lewis.

    Big George Foreman arguably the GOAT, you cannot deny. 81-5, KO'd everyone really. Took a decade off (maybe in his prime), then returned a full decade later and became the oldest heavyweight champion of all time in that run fighting the greatest that were half his age. Only put down 3x in his life, and only a KO loss to Ali, largely due to fatigue.

    Starting at the 13:24 mark, the speed, evasiveness, acrobatic balance, finesse, and pugilistic brilliance of the young Cassius Clay - as he renders the hulking Sonny Liston helpless to employ his deadly left hand - is stunning. Speed and intelligence overcame brute strength. And The Greatest Of All Time was inaugurated into a new era of boxing.

    This is a great list. Im pleased to see Tyson so high as i find that most lists dont even bother including him, not even in 'top 50' or 'top 100' lists. It seems like they just completely ignore how he was before he went to prison and got years of his prime taken away. I'd say your placement of him is correct (either people leave him out or put him number 1, both of which seem slightly extreme). Also you chose great highlight clips to show for each boxer.

Holyfield, a blown up light heavyweight, beat VERY big natural heavyweights, undisputed champ and 4 time world champ, a record nobody has beaten yet. Also, if Holyfield hadn't of been robbed in the Vaulev fight, he would've been the oldest heavyweight champ ever at 46 and a 5th world champ. He never ducked ANYONE. Beat every top Heavyweight that are considered ATGs at a drastic reach disadvantage. He was like, an unstoppable gladiator. An Italian Bulldozer, with an Iron Will. He didn't give two shits how many shots he would take, cause he knew he hit much harder. He knew he wasn't gonna waltz around a full 15, he was gonna knock his opponent's fuckin' Head off way, before then. lol He was a Bull. Most Well Conditioned Fighta, Balls bigga, than Ring Bells. His Suzie Q measures to the smart power of an Armor Piercin' Slug, He was in the Army, & ran 5-10 Miles each Mornin' durin' Trainin' Camp. • @AdamIqball
      @AdamIqball 4 роки тому +17

      there was a rematch coming then foreman chose to fight someone right before the rematch, in which foreman lost, then retired. If there was to be a rematch Ali admitted he would be in a disadvantage this time, however i believe that Ali would have still won, but probably by decision, as he wouldn't be able to tire out foreman as much, because foreman wouldn't allow the same technique twice to be played against him, Ali would probably dance around a lot this time, agitating foreman by making gags in between rounds, tryna speed up foremans attacks and to make him waste his energy but Ali is way past his prime so he wouldn't be able to dance full 15 rounds as he did in his youth, but neither to say, foreman would have issues cutting the ring with Ali for the first 5-6 rounds, then Ali would be forced to eat body punches, but foreman would be tired, not as much as their first match, but tired, so its unlikely especially as the rounds go on that foreman would be Ali.

    Everyone should know Ali would be number one & no dispute about that. However, when Sports Illustrated chose Michael Jordan as the best athlete of all time, that was not a worthy decision over Ali! Of course, two different sports but Ali was stripped from fighting for 3 years, & truly the older Ali were the better he fought. So even though he was past his early 20's & look @ it this way, ( Past his prime ). For The Champ to have his crown stripped because of not going to the war, that was A Man who thought taking life that didn't effect his own was the mind of a great humanitarian. Barley winning his first fight after the courts awarded him to fight, he fought with Fraizer & lost but put up one hell of a fight! After that lost Ali soared the highest peaks. When he did lose towards, Norton, Fraizer, Spinx, he still soared again. When Ali was way past his prime, at least the judges were honest on the score cards when he fought his last fight. He made had put on a show & danced but not enough to win the fight between Berbick & himself!Everyone has an assessment but Sports illustrated was wrong to chose Jordan over Ali.

    Amazing video especially the ending with Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali.
    I belive Langford and Wills are the two most underrated heavyweights ever and should be alot higher, top 10 at the least (I have Langford 3rd)
    -Langford was a 5x coloured heavyweight champion with 41 title defences.
    -Wills was a 3x coloured heavyweight champion with 25 title defences.
    Although Langford did lose to Johnson but he was a much smaller man only weighing around 154Ibs at the time, believe there was something like a 35Ibs difference. I believe post 1910 Langford who weight around 175-185Ibs and had experience at the weight fighting bigger men would of beat Johnson if they fought (I would pick Johnson to win in their primes). He fought all the other top heavyweights like Wills, Jeanette and Mcvea multiple time.

    • @CoronaJoe
      @CoronaJoe 9 років тому +1

      ***** The order makes a huge difference, Tyson did not do anything in his career that would make anyone rate him above guys who made 20-25 defenses, and never got their asses KO'ed at 23 by a slug journeyman.
      Holyfield and Lewis behind Tyson? Why, in a million years, would you do that? I know, you'll have 40 excuses for Mike, say he was shot when they fought. However when he fought Holyfield, Evander had come back from heart issues, and had looked terrible against Bobby Cycz (sp), he was older and much more worn than Mikey...Why does only Mike get the "washed up" excuse made for him, just 'cause he lost?? How convenient. Everyone at the time knew what Mike had left, knew his age etc. He was still the fav going in. Yet, once he gets his ass handed to him by a superior fighter, he's suddenly washed up?? Holyfield and Lewis made more defenses, against better opposition, AND both beat him down, yet they rank behind him? You've watched way too many highlight clips, and are ranking based on personal likes rather than skills and career.
      Rocky is way too high too, only made 6 defenses, and against old men.
      You're right though, you do at least have the correct fighters mentioned... The delusional comment was only aimed at the 1a ranking of Tyson...cheers.

    • @Icyhotboo
      @Icyhotboo 9 років тому

      CoronaJoe You over looked the most important thing about all of them except Marciano. On any given day any one of them except him could be beaten, and still I didn't put him in the #1 slot where he belongs by right of passage being that in all the divisions of boxing only Marciano was unbeaten over a career lasting 49 fights. The first time around I did you the courtesy of not mentioning that 23 of his opponents suffered permanent damage in one form or another. The Ali that fought Frazier wouldn't get into the 7TH round with him. Joe Louis fought the toughest group by far I might add.
      As for excuses, you make them for your list, not mine. As for Tyson, after 1988 he never trained, became a drug addict, and that does count in the real world?
      The other thing is this. You can play the numbers game with any sport, but "on any given day".
      That's my opinion about Tyson, and after talking with Manny Steward about it I'll take it over yours! Manny also stated publicly that the only two fighters he had ever seen with one punch KO power were Tommy Hearns and Tyson. Ali of the 70s doesn't get on the list, period! If you want to dispute that here's a quote from Foreman, " I don't think he ever beat Norton." Neither do I George. As you might notice it's easy to get picayune CJ. No one on that list beats Tyson 2 out of 3. In the first Holyfield fight it was over in the fifth round when Tyson hit him with a two punch combo to the body, but he had fought less than 10 round counting sparring in 6 years, and in actuality didn't recognize how badly Holyfield was hurt, so give me a break.
      Save your alleged superior knowledge for the rookies and fool them, but not me. I was there for most of them as that was my business. I don't need an amateur to tell me I lived my life wrong now that I'm near the end. I lived well, supported two families, and had a lot of fun.

    • @CoronaJoe
      @CoronaJoe 9 років тому

      ***** Wow, a novel. Maybe I'll read it all later.

      @boxing fan uk Not every win over all time greats are created equal. There's politics of boxing, where both fighters were in their careers, how many title defenses they had or how deep their resumes were. There are some very good fights who were world champions who actually beat HOF boxers who AREN'T in the HOF themselves. Is Oliver McCall a HOFer? Buster Douglas? Ray Mercer? Tommy Morrison? Leon Spinks? James J Braddock? The journey every fighter takes is different. Some are late bloomers. Some have a shitload of loses (Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles), but they're still HOFers. Some were held back by the politics of the sport (Archie Moore comes to mind).
      It's about what you contributed to the sport and what your legacy is. Can anyone have a serious discussion about the history of the sport and NOT mention your name as a contributor?
