    When it comes to the ATEM Mini, you have 2 stereo line/mic inputs and 4 HDMI inputs for sound. In this video, I go over ways to get sound into the ATEM mini using the stereo line/mic inputs and the HDMI inputs.

    Ajay,
    Thank you for all you do. We started to get serious about live streaming when we shutdown inside service 6 months ago. Prior to this, we were just recording a single cam and taking a recording from the soundboard. This worked, but wasn't live and we had several production issues. When we went to stream 6 months ago, we started with a webcam and a 6 channel PA system. With your help and videos, we now are back inside our building and live streaming on a 2-3 camera ATEM Mini setup pulling from Pro Presenter for our lower thirds. With your videos and suggestions our full setup went from a borrowed laptop and webcam to a 4-channel HDMI Splitter (for our projector, ATEM, and our extender), laptop, 4-channel HDMI extender (for sending signals throughout the building to multiple rooms), and 1 1 channel HDMI extender (for our remote camera). While we still tweak our setting and are now working on a good audio mix, our congregation is extremely happy to have this as a viewing option. Thank you for all the help!

    Hi Ajay, One small corrections. The ATEM input is a STEREO UNBALANCED input. So XLR (Mono) to 3pin mini plug (Stereo) is not a good solution. Using an unbalanced audio feed... the Left channel goes to tip and ground / the Right Channel is to sleeve ring and ground of the mini input plug.

    Our ministry uses the Aux send to mix to the to live feed. We control mix for in-house volumes separate from the live mix (using the Aux send). Doing it this way allows the team to not mess up live stream sounds when correcting in house volume needs, and vice Versa.

    • @AJaytheCEO
      @AJaytheCEO  4 роки тому

      This is the best option. My board does not allow this. I'm trying to get a new updated mixer so we can do this and so much more.

      It only works correctly if you use the aux-send in the pre-fader modus. Otherwise you change the volume of the aux-send each time you adjust the faders for the live mix.

    Ajay, it's best to feed the audio into one of the cameras and then turn ON the audio for that camera's HDMI input on the ATEM Mini. The reason for this is because HDMI is delayed by 2 to 3 frames and will be out of sync with your audio coming into the Mic In. Feeding the audio into a camera will sync up both the audio and video.

      The only issue is that many churches cameras are more than 20 feet away from the console. XLR to Stereo Splitter going into the line in of the camera is unbalanced audio cable. Past 20 feet you may encounter a heavy hum from the EFI spectrum that comes from lights and television monitors in the sanctuary..

    • @AJaytheCEO
      @AJaytheCEO  4 роки тому +1

      Correct at this point an audio interface to the computer would be better

    • @jtsweeney79
      @jtsweeney79 4 роки тому +1

      On the Behringer X32 , you could press the Routing key next to the LED display, scroll to the appropriate stereo out matrices and roll the dial to a sound delay of 200ms. If the ATEM is right by the mix console, although using unbalanced cable, then it should be ok to connect it directly from console to ATEM without having to use an audio interface in the middle of your connection chain.

    You don't want to take an XLR output straight into a stereo jack input. The three pins on the XLR are ground, signal, and a reversed version of the signal (for cancelling out interference), for one channel of audio. If you plug this into an input that's expecting different channels of audio on each pin it will put the "normal" version of the signal on one side and the reversed version on the other.

    The only thing I may add becareful when you connecting the audio from the mixer to the mic jack of the camera, it will have a lot of distortion. Cause the camera only like mic level. The board send line level. To avoid this you need a converter from line to mic level -50db. If the camera has already included the xlr port is a great chance that has the converter included. Or you have to drop all fader almost all the way to the bottom.

      @@AJaytheCEO Yeah, this is very essential information. The Atem manual doesn't put this info up front, and that cog icon sits out of the way in the lower left of the ATEM software - I forget about it sometimes. It would be nice if BMD printed "mic/line" on the back of the unit for the two physical inputs, giving some indication that there is internal attenuation built in on this unit with a selector. Line input should be the default for any switcher, and mic levels are the bonus. Glad I found it. Also, it's possible to still get your two mics input when you're using one of the 3.5mm jacks for stereo line-level from a mixer. You can split any of the HDMI audio or mic inputs into two distinct mono signals and simply route the two mics (with the right cables and adapters) to a TRS stereo input. They would then be independently controllable in the ATEM mixer. Pretty cool.

    • @mayomode

    Loved this as an intro, but I am ready for the deeper dive and I got my ATEM Mini and started testing. Audio was pretty good, but when the group started singing and playing, it seems to have some distortion and it wasn't peeking on the ATEM or OBS. I have heard adjustments need to be made to something maybe on the EQ or Dynamics side. Do you have ideas or thoughts on changing that in the ATEM Mini?

    • @tthomas9980
      @tthomas9980 4 роки тому +1

      The distortion can be a couple of places. It could come from your source audio mixer that peaking and getting distorted before the sound gets to the Atem. Or, the atem mini audio is set to wrong. Check to see if the audio input is set to “mic” or “Line”. The preamp May be over driving the input (could cause damage to the input)

      What type of mixers do you have. Without knowing the type, I would bring a line in from both into the 2 separate mic inputs on the ATEM Mini or you could feed one mixer output into another then you only need one line going to the ATEM Mini

      We are having a ton of issue with our audio and the ATEM. One of the things I've learned is that you need an unbalanced cable going into the ATEM. I don't know if you are having consistent low volume, but we found ours was going up and down which indicated a phasing issue. Getting an unbalanced cable fixed that, but still working on getting other audio issues.

    I read that if you plug in an external mic into the atem mini there will be a delay with the video so audio and video will be aut of sync. Do you know if this problem and if so, do you have a solution for it ?

      Hey Vincent. First off you are welcome. I only get a sync issue with one of my computers. Here where else I have not had a sync issue. If you experience this issue and you are using OBS or VMix, you can add an audio delay to make up for the delay if any.

    I like your videos but you really could do better with your post edits. For this video, know what you are talking about if you want people to find you credible. This was a really good video idea on helping people understand how to get audio from their mixer into the ATEM mini but you didn’t even know where the monitor send was on the behringer mixer. You were pointing at aux returns. Also, be specific when talking about your cable connections. You kept saying convert your rca cables down to stereo. It’s actually down to 1/8” trs which is stereo. Good stuff you’ve been doing on the mini but please do a dry run before recording live.
