@@ShroobInvader I loved Partners in Time growing up and I never found it scary. Granted, I grew up watching shows where stuff like this (ua-cam.com/video/hlCwrskkDAs/v-deo.html) happened frequently.
Toad town will be my absolute number one. It literally traumatised me as a child. I even remember a nightmare, where i imagined being one of the toads in toad town while the destruction.
O-O dat is scary, and nowadays I like it more than in this video which shows how great the area is
@@ShroobInvader i remember another nightmare, where princess shroob (the skinny one) and her troops followed me and tried to catch me. In the end, they catched me and she pointed with this blaster thingie right at me, then i woke up, once again. Went to my mom and my dad (i was like five or six back then) and the shadows of the trees just looked like the shadow in the beginning of the game. Although the game traumatised me back in the days, it still is my Number 1 in the mario & luigi series.
I'm currently grinding the remake of bowsers inside story. I never really liked it, but by now, i love it.

I was doing nightmare of yoob (the giant yoshi ) that was in front of my house and walk in my town. I was the last to survive so it tried to eat me
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the whole toad thing in the vim factory and toad wood forest. You know the thing where in the vim factory you can see containers which have toads’ ghosts (presumably)screaming in pain.

Yeah everyone said it in the comments lol, The only reason I didn’t include it was because of me not really caring when I played the first few times. But if you combine the destruction entries together, then consider the toads in Toadwood Forest number 5, but for now it’s number 6

0:10 this could also apply for the Kirby series. “Oh Kirby is such a kid friendly series, there’s nothing dark there”. Proceeds to play any game and goes “WTF is going on?!”. Like seriously all 4 of the previous Kirby games have either a hellspawn for a final boss or the final boss has insanely dark and depressing lore.

To be honest, as a kid, I really wanted to play this game as a kid after I heard about it. But after I finally got the chance to play it on my Wii U this year, I changed my mind. Good thing I didn't played it as a kid.

@@ShroobInvader I probably would have been really scared as a kid. I was quite sensible to dark moments. I get easily scared or traumatized.
Oh ok, for me as a kid, I never noticed anything dark from the game, except for number 1, especially because I skipped over the dialogue as a kid

The dead silence when the Shroob Castle is locked is actually so haunting. It's so out of character for Mario. The whole game is but they NEVER do that. It's perfect

Its Dark Due To multiple Reasons First Reason younger Princess shroobs Death 2 Baby bowser comes close to Death 3 Peach Telling How She Toadiko Toadbert got captured And Tells What happened to the cobalt star And Why she shatterd it Cause she captured the older sister in it. . .
Shoulda mentioned the Shroob language being translated at the end and learning the word they've been saying all game is just "destroy".
there is actually one more moment that I think it is good is that there is a special game over screen if you are defeated after fighting against the Princess Shroob's mothership which is very dark in a funny way lol

Don't forget when you finally get to the final stage of the last boss and fight the transformation of elder princess shroob, you're literally fighting over who goes extinct.
If Mario and Luigi wins, the both the shroobs leaders will be dead and theyl most certainly be hunted down and killed.
But if princess shroob wins, earth is gone. And there's no one who can save it. The last will be taken over, the present will fail, and the future will die. Along with mankind
Would you believe if I said this is the first Mario game I completed when I was 11. In CHINESE 😭 idk why but I fell in love with this game man. Despite it's language barrier I managed to play through it. It was so tough & very scary but man was it a ride.
Dear Elder Princess Shroob
I would have placed the final phase of Elder Princess Shroob as number 1. First the music is depressing and foreboding. Second the whole idea of this battle is that if she wins the shroobs will enslave the world and the future will be completely changed forever, the toads will be extinct and, everything we know love will be destroyed and there's nothing you can do about it. If you do beat her you condemned an entire civilisation into extinction so basically both sides are fighting for there own survival and either way someone has to die for the sake of there civilisation. That's why I would have put it as number 1.

Since I’ve played the game so many time I don’t focus on that part of the boss anymore. The stuff that made the list are still effective on me even beating the game 6 times

The darkest moment of the game is seeing how the Toads were being killed in the Vim Factory.
Toad souls being used for shroob ship fuel, Goddamn.

I'm surprised Fawful's monologue to the Baby Mario Bros. didn't get a mention. It serves as a nice recap of Superstar Saga, but it also provides some... _dark foreshadowing_ for Bowser's Inside Story. Apparently, getting conked on the head by Mario and subsequently getting slugged out of Bowser's Castle by Luigi caused Fawful to start slowly getting mental illnesses. The first signs we see of them are in Partners in Time, believe it or not, and Fawful goes into a full-on rant on how much he hates the Mario Bros. of his time... only to get a bad cough and say this afterwards: _"D-Did I...Have insanity? Did I...have evil? I suppress the fury, but sometimes... The fury has me. Red and green puts the fog of rage in my eyes, and my mind goes crazy."_
I actually kind of feel bad for Fawful now that I realized this. Sure, what he did during Superstar Saga alongside Cackletta was wrong, but Mario & Luigi kind of made Fawful's life even worse and were ultimately responsible for the events of Bowser's Inside Story... *_WITH NO ONE IN-SERIES - OR EVEN THE DEVELOPERS FOR THAT MATTER - EVER REALIZING IT._* The atmosphere of Fawful's Bean n' Badge and the remix of the underground theme from Super Mario Bros. kind of make this more unsettling to me honestly, as if Fawful's mind has just become this ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
I was waiting for the princess peach taking off the mushroom off her face, or when she got the mushroom on her face, but those too are just brief moments tho but eh
If I made a top 10 that would have been like number 6 or 7
Idk why but when I was a child I feared tentacles and red pupils in black eyes. So I let you imagine my reaction to Sunnycide, and especially to Elder Princess Shroob's crowned form... 😅

There’s a glitch that lets you get into shroob castle, you just have to use the ball ability before collecting all the shards.

i honestly used to think this game wasnt really meant for kids despite being Mario, this game is so dark for a mario game
Here’s my rebuttal for that, because I played it when I was a kid, I just straight up didn’t notice any of the dark stuff lol, no but it does make sense that this should be like 10+

@@ShroobInvader I’m surprised you didn’t put the toads captured on trees into this compilation, as a kid I didn’t get it but being older and understanding the context to their vim being drained allows for one of the darkest moments in the game personally, especially finding all the different roads you can’t talk to as their text is smaller and in “…” showing their life is draining.

1. Toadsworth saying how shroobs came to take their lives, with cutscene plays where Toads are murdered by UFO Shroobs.
2. Shroobs capturing Toads of Peach's Castle and Hollijolli Village, where they are drained (tortured) till they have no "Mushroom power" (life).
3. Yoob's terrorism and having dead koopas inside his body (dry bones or dead skeletons around.
4. Shroobs kidnapping many to shroobified them to serve army.
5. Princess Shroob throws Peach into Petey Piranha's mouth to torment her whilist laughing.
6. Thwomp that landed on mothership is mostly killed by Shroobs.
7. Princess Shroob giving death threats before battle
8. The credits and more themes are super depressing or disturbing.

Where's the part where Yoob eats Mario and Co. We need to go through his body and before you can get out of Yoob you need to fight a boss to get out of Yoobs body and the boss scared me back then. 😰
